When my family and I first went to Japan, we visited Ichiran Ramen in Tokyo (can't remember the exact location). We waited almost an hour in line and we enjoyed their ramen. We personally thought the ramen was okay but it's honestly nothing special and we tasted ramen at lower prices from local ramen restaurants whose ramen we preferred over the ones from Ichiran. We met up with our friend who lives in Japan and he told us that Ichiran is mostly visited by tourists because of their successful marketing campaigns. He also told us that you have to ask the locals, preferably someone who's lived in Japan for years, their recommendations for ramen restaurants if you really want to experience the highest quality and most authentic Japanese ramen. He introduced us to different ramen restaurants whose ramen we personally thought were way better than Ichiran. I don't think there's a single best ramen restaurant in Japan because everyone has different preferences and every ramen restaurant is different (although there might be a few restaurants whose ramen tastes the same but this isn't necessarily a bad thing) and their taste is unique depending on the region/place in Japan. My family and I didn't visit Ichiran the second time we visited Japan because we already tried it and we wanted to try more affordable and underrated ramen restaurants with shorter wait time. We met up with our Japanese friend who once again introduced us to great ramen restaurants that were very underrated and mostly frequented by locals. This is a long read but I hope if you visit Japan you could travel with a local who can introduce you to great restaurants that are hidden gems and one of the best in the area ❤️

Felt the same. There were much better ones around Tokyo. There was one particular ramen restaurant in nishikasai area which was heavenly.

One rule of thumb is to really go by instinct/intuition, I was in japan with my friends before and we spontaneously tried a ramen shop called "Kyushu Jangara", everybody inside besides us were locals, and the shop wasn't spacious but I heard that's a pretty localised thing there, we sat at the counter seats and it was a very authentic experience; the wafts of smells from the various broths in the kitchen, loud bantering between the cooks while passionately prepping the ramen, with warm and friendly staff, and the myriad of conversations between the patrons there, overall a pretty lively atmosphere there which was more enjoyable than ichiran for me.

If you ask me, the restaurant with the most locals probably has the best food.
Ive tried it in both NYC and Osaka and I have to say that as much as the NYC location is good it hits different when you try it directly in Japan even tho there’s many local ramen shop that could give Ichiran a run for its money haha

Love all your videos Lisa..I'm living my food adventures thru you and enjoying every moment 💚🙌🙌💚
I actually had it in japan before, it was soo good, I chose a similar level of spice the first time too in order to fully taste the broth's flavor, lisa next time you should try the matcha almond tofu pudding too, it's a light and refreshing dessert to end the meal with
You’re making trip back home TO NYC omg!!! I’m making a list♥️😘😅♥️love you Lisa!
my mom enjoyed your videos, we watched it during lunch and she was amazed at your cooking skills! ❤️
I just tried authentic ramen yesterday and oh boy im so excited to try other ramen shops 😍
this looks LIKE A WHOLE EXPERIENCE. I love it so much!! Order forms are always so much easier for me, from the POV as a customer and a worker.
Oh i love the little booths!!
Thanks for this, Love ramen, never knew they had such places!
That looks so delicious ♡

Your foods looks so good 🙂
Can’t wait to go soon! From Arizona!!
That looks really good, Lisa! I recommend Grace Street if you’re in the K-Town area! I went in the summer, and I think Ichiran is great, as well! I forgot the name of this other great food place at K-Town, something Kitchen, it tastes amazing! Hope you have fun on your trip in NY! :)
Great review !
Looks delicious!!!
I love Icharin Ramen and I love their noodles and side dishes. Really great place! XD
I’ve also went to an Ichiran in New York, though we went to one in Brooklyn, which is kinda smaller than the one you went to. But I really love the ramen there and was actually the first ramen I have ever had, and so glad that it was 😋🍜
That looked so tasty! 🤤🤤💖
Ahh I live in NYC and I’ve been watching your NYC videos these past few days, but it just clicked in my head that we’ve been experiencing the same cold weather 🥶 Please stay warm!
I love how organized they were.
Yum!
This just reminded of me when I visited japan! I cant Remember the exact location, but I waited for about 1/2 hours. The noodles were good but gotta love my grocery store ramen 🍜 haven't been to Japan in 3 years, I'm planning to go there after covids gone!
Awesome👍
You presented your visit very well in this video. Thank you for that.
I like that they have a instant version love it 😎
It looks so good😭
You should’ve tried the vegetable broth they have, I usually love Meat broths, but this one slapped 👌🏻👌🏻
Ichiran is so good! My first experiences was in Osaka, Japan and it totally hit the spot after a late night of clubbing. Since then I’ve had Ichiran in Tokyo and Osaka during the day time and it’s always a must. Hope you get to try it in Japan!
You should definitely try yum yum noodles!
I love your vids !!

There was 1 ichiran place in Osaka, been there twice, and I always get the 3 spicy because I want it to be spicy yet tasty, and I must, best ramen noodles I have ever had, the broth was amazing everything about it was amazing
Osaka has 2 locations in Dotonbori, and it’s really fun to order because instead of filling out forms, you actually punch in and pay for your order via vending machine just outside the main entrance door and then you’ll give the receipt to the person behind the little curtain thing :)
OMG YES ICHIRAN NY I GO HERE ALLLL THE TIME
I need good reasonably priced Thai food recommendations in NYC. Please and thank you! Lol
I went there on a solo trip to the city for an event and I think I got the regular or step up but this was some of the most amazing ramen I've ever had
Look delicious
Where can I find this kit?!!!!!! I soooooo want to try this?!!! My pantry is full of Ramen because of you!!! Lol 🥰🥰
Wow didn't know they opened up a NYc location. I tried the restaurant location in Shibuya. I'm excited the kept the same theme in NYC.
💜
Hey Lisa, you should try Irachi Chai, it’s the best chai you can taste
as someone who lived in tokyo for a time, idk what these people are talking about ichiran is AMAZING and even in japan where you're surrounded by great food it's some of the best ramen you can find
Lisa you definitely need to try The spicy Rose falooda if u do find it anywhere. It kinda has the flavour of a ramen broth but with a hint of rose flavour .
That actually looks really nice.
Lisa happy birthday 🎊🎂
yess
Lisa pleaseeee try momos and soup next time ,its one of my personal favorites and momos are like dumplings and are very juicy , you might love it!
That is a really creative business for sure.
Good one, go to ichiraku next.
Amazing and I love you
Crazy
I’ve had Ichiran in NYC and Osaka they were both good but the best ramen is definitely those underrated ramen shops that you mostly see locals at in Japan!
Please try Spicy Shio Ramen from Ivan Ramen, it was featured on Chefs Table & I am addicted to it lol
If you are ever in Boston you need to go to Yume Wo Katare! Only 2 things on the menu... Pork ramen and spicy pork ramen. It's also a great experience since the whole point of this ramen shop is about achieving your dreams and everyone shares their dreams with the small dining room when you finish your ramen
I ate at this shop at Osaka. The ramen was great!
Yummy Ramen
Since I live in NYC 🗽 I will go there in the new year
I dont even care about the ramen, but a place where no-one can see me eating has me absolutely hooked. I HATE eating in public, i always feel vry self-concious about the way i eat and it would be heaven to just be able to relax and eat with no-one watching
I would love to go there
That is one of the most appetising ramens I have ever seen
ive been making ramen for like 3 months in a row like at least once a day and i make the dough myself ect. but while its prepping and resting i watch this restaurant on youtube and its hilarious because i cant believe they havnt made people stop filming youtube videos here because there are at least 15 youtube videos of this exact restaurant with tons of views. so thats prolly why. but this stuff looks so good i watch to catch and see if i can catch anything that i can do to make mine better.
gotta try ippudo they have 2 locations in manhattan, downtown is biggger but the midtown is the first one. hoenstly best ramen ive had in my life
I read that as ichiraku ramen. You should try that next.
The Ichiran in Japan is the bombbb! I am a huge fan of ramen so obviously going to Japan is always exciting for me bcs I look forward to all the food there >:)
It was nice
The way Lisa just signs that paper feels like Lisa is giving away her soul for ramen
Hey Lisa can u make food content from other countries too? Like Turkey have kebab, lahmacun etc. could u make a video abt these?
Dammit, I live in ny, but in the wrong burrow to experience all these foods. That looks so delicious im so jealous
I wish I had local ramen shops in my state
I tried Ichiran for the first time this year in Ropponggi, Tokyo and it was 🔥🔥🔥
😋
❤Ramen❤
First time i tried this was when i was 8 and it is still my favourite restaurant but i only go there once every few years cos i live very far from japan and rarely go there for vacation
I love you Lisa your videos really
I came here without notification lol with in 3 sec 😁😁
I think Ichiran is pretty average, even compared to ramen in the US. Speaking of the US, though, if you're in California you gotta stop by Ramen Nagi. The ramen there is amazing. And then in Japan, there's a ton of great little ramen shops, and some are really unique. I had a chicken broth as well as a vegetable broth ramen and both were unlike any ramen I've ever had.
@aurevoirlesfelicias1337
2 жыл бұрын
Chicken and Vegetable/Mushroom Paitan isn't unique though lol they're pretty common too.
If you ever come to Japan, make sure to visit Fujikyu Highland. They have the best ramen 🍜
Oh oh oh I been there before!!
Hi Lisa I love your videos they really inspire me and I have made some of your recipes before you’re also one of my favourite KZreadrs
Must be heavenly
Oo I’ve been there before a couple months ago, except I didn’t read the signs on the side of the booth ;-;
I was just in New York City for the first time with my boyfriend for Thanksgiving weekend. I wish I could have ran into you there. :[
hey Lisa I want to ask something.... can we buy kimchi online?? and if yes, then will it taste like actual homemade one?
