I Tried Following Anna McNulty's Back Handspring Tutorial

Ойын-сауық

I did my best but I think my body is not in good condition. After watching it, I see that I'm not jumping with both legs, my right leg keeps coming first. And I keep bending my lower back that's why it hurts so much. Please comment some tips on how I could get it. Thanks in advance. Thank you you for watching and please leave a like if you enjoyed the video.

    I feel like most of us can do it, its just the fear of *Jumping back and our arms being to weak so then we fall onto our heads and die*........ Well thats my problem anyway.

    Samara soy is not as easy as it looks, you need arm strength and for many it’s hard to learn how to swing and jump into it, but with practice it is possible for almost everyone!

Just some tips: 1) the impulsse you are doingo is wrong;you should start with your arms up,then they go down,and then they go up another time really quickly 2)Don’t jump the “sky” jump back but high 3) don’t focus in doing a back walkover,focus in making a flip,I get my backhandspring without having a back walkover Hope they are useful! Sorry for my bad English i’m from Argentina 🇦🇷

    Yes!! I am curreently taking tumbling classes for cheer and I am close to my backhandspring with only a good handstand, cartwheel, one-handed cartwheel, and roundoff! I feel like backwalkovers are different than backhandsprings, but there is a huge misconception that you need that first. Someone told me (in other words) that I probably wasn't gonna get my BHS bc I didn't even have my backwalkover yet. I have four more classes to get one before cheer tryouts.

    The reason u weren't getting ur back handspring is because u were throwing ur head back before ur arms. When u go into ur back handspring follow ur hands back with ur head instead if going head first. Anyway u did a good job. Keep practicing

  • @hadleyb7595
    @hadleyb75955 жыл бұрын

    You’re so close! Right now it looks like a swing into a back bend so to help make your feet go faster, make sure you really jump into it. To help the jump you should point your toes to get extra power. Once the jump is good don’t throw your head back. If you throw your head back before you jump, it will be a lot harder than it needs to be. Good job though!

    When going in to backbends, backwalkovers, backlimbers, anything backwards pre much squeeze your arms next to your ears because in your back walkover and things u threw your head back then out your arms up. That’s also where you were going wrong with this. U were throwing your head back. And the putting your arms up which is quite dangerous especially when your first learning but good on ya for having a go 👊🏽🔥

    I would suggest to work on that back limber a little more! try get used to pushing off with two feet and keeping your ankles and legs together. This will give you some more power to get both legs over at the same time😊 To get more comfortable jumping backwards, try jumping back onto a bed or a thicker mattress on the floor. Use your arms to swing back onto the bed like you would in your back handspring and land with a tight, straight body, squeezing your tummy and arms by your ears. I hope this helps! you'll get there eventually 😊

    I have some tips. I have just gotten my back handspring. I am a 12 year old self taught gymnast. Here's what I did. I stacked pillows up behind me to act a spotter, since I don't have one. Then I put pillows down behind that to cushion me if I fell. As you do it comfortably remove the pillows one at a time! Two days later, I got my back handspring, and now I have my roundoff back handspring as well! :) I hope this helps!

    I am a gymnast and I think my biggest tip is to tie your feet together so you avoid splitting them to go into a walkover and also try to jump back not just bend down into a bridge. Try jumping back onto a big mat or your bed landing in a flat dish shape. Also getting a spot would also help you get it or even on a trampoline to get that extra power in the legs. Keep trying and good luck :)

  • @MatterhornedCrassy87
    @MatterhornedCrassy875 жыл бұрын

    Great attempts but remember to really squat down to get your power and push off, and try doing a prep for a backhand spring but don’t actually do it, do the prep but jump as high as you can. This is a drill that definitely helped me. Remember, never ever split your legs in a backhandspring unless your going for step out. Last thing, don’t be afraid to relly swing your arms and go for it, if you still can’t get it because of a mental block, if you have a. Couch or a bed, try and keep jumping back on the bed or couch, whatever works for you. Anyway , I hope these tips helped you and I hope you get your backhandspring soon. 😁🙏

    Here are some tips I have for you... 1) when doing your standing back handspring push off the floor with your legs as you’re swinging, 2) do not over arch your back you should be in a handstand position in the middle of your handspring not a back bend. 3) once your in a handstand position push off your arms and rebound with your arms by your ears. 4) get a spot if you can. 5) if your scared, try to get it fluent with a spot and do roundoff handsprings instead. It helps get you used to the handspring and really drills them. And it’s less scary. I did this and now I have all fluent handspring passes. 5.5) if you chose to do roundoff handsprings make sure you have them fluent enough with a spot. Make sure you do a roundoff and when you land it have your feet slightly in front of you. The momentum will throw you back but don’t bail out. Keep going. 6) try to do handsprings in a bouncy house or trampoline. If you overcome your fear of throwing it back it will become automatic. 7) don’t be afraid. Open your eyes when your doing it and don’t bail. Worse thing worse you’ll not do it or land on your knees. 8) try not to get into the habit of bailing out because that could lengthen your handspring journey. 9) Remember to not give up.

    Dude, you are totally capable of doing a back handspring! The fear of jumping backwards is what is stopping you. I also noticed you are not falling back in a sort of sitting position before you jump. I noticed the girl in the video did not show how to do that properly either. I would recommend you watch some other tutorials on doing the back handspring.

    Hey, you are doing a really great job just remember to keep your arms close to your ears and they should go back with your head not chucking your head back first. Oh also use your legs and toes to push off the floor but keep up the great work!!!!

    Amazing video! Just a tip is that when you are doing your back limber you are not flipping over with 2 feet at the same time. You are doing a back walkover. Good job though

    Anya P back limber is like a back handspring but without the jump. You come over with you feet together, just like a front limber

    The problem that wrong is that when your jumping back your throwing your head back you should be in an arched position with hands going backwars first not head...

    Okay, after watching her tutorial I don't think it was very helpful in learning the mechanics of the Backhandspring. So: 1. Always start with your arms up, then swing them down, then bring them back to your ears before you jump. You don't want to whip your head back and then put your arms down because you could land on your head if you slip or bail out of the skill. 2. The jump into it (you do have to go for it, but it's really not that bad once you've done it a few times) is not just a jump up, but it should be a jump backwards as well. Before you jump into it, it should feel like you're falling backwards. Then, reach backward with your hands and try not to look at your hands, but some are too nervous not to, etc. 3. Your position in the BHS, when your hands hit the ground should be an arched over handstand, from which you should snap your legs down and then pop off your hands (by pushing in your shoulders off the ground) and bring your chest up and your feet down. Extra tips: The jump back can be very scary, and timing is a little hard to get right so I recommend doing some 'sets' to your back onto a bed or something. It should be the very beginning of your backhandspring but just a set to your back where you try and jump up and backwards and land flat on your back on the bed. Extra skill to practice: Handstand snap down. Kick up into a handstand, slightly arch your back and try and snap your feet down and bring your chest up into a rebound, this is the end of a round off and the end of a backhandspring. Practice on a trampoline, if possible to get more confident in your timing, jump, and just doing the skill more often. Get someone to spot you! Your confidence will increase if you can do it with spot, but make sure it is someone who knows what they're doing, not just a friend. Keep your arms strong at all times! This will ensure you don't land on your head because your arms crumpled. Good luck, I hope you can get it!

    you're bending your back first before jumping making it very hard, you are also not following your hands with your head and leaving your head behind making it even harder. hope you found this helpful, not trying to criticise just giving advice :)
