I never heard about people getting hurt by the heat of their sleeping bag. I've seen plenty of people of being cold and getting pneumonia from being in the bag that was rated exactly as temperature outside as per my watch(+10 bags at +10 temps in the mountains are main offenders). I think such warm bags are specialized equipment, and my way of doing it is having normal bag rated at -6c comfort, that i use 80% of time in the mountains, then i have blanket for warm weather (aka turkey and africa) that is rated for +4, but when i combine those they handle everything my balkan and carpathian mountains throw at me in winter, as low as -20c.
The Decathlon spaghetti Bolognese is an absolute winner 😋 great video again chase just got myself a -10 degree sleeping bag from alpkit for these winter nights in the UK wish I knew about this brand sooner as the prices are pretty similar and there gear looks great 👍
I appreciate the video Chase! I have been curious about Cumulus gear for a minute, so nice to see more content from them.
Probably never going to need one of these but great review 👌atb Brian 👍
You don't need a liquid fuel stove. You can use an inverted canister stove. Or use an alcohol stove.
You’re such a raw and ho eat personality for your videos. Makes it a blast to watch.

Thank you for your first thoughts! I'm already very happy with my Cumulus quilt and I'm considering them for a winter bag.. Can I ask, what was your thought process in choosing the Alaska model compared to the Teneqa? Is it only the increased insurance against cold spots from the baffle design or some other features? Cheers!

Cumulus make some great gear 👌🏼
It would be great if you've tested this close to its ratings, 2kg is lot considering weight and price, May you should make another video on this later.

The Teneqa line is their lightweight offering for winter conditions.
I'm curious why they only use such a low rated 700 loft down, when up to 1000 is available...
Ok this is freaking me out. At 2:49 the bag starts moving before your hand touches it. Did you reverse this clip?

Hahahha yes it’s in reverse
the cold butt problem is so real, why is it always that spot
I've been considering their 250 quilt for summer

I have the Cumulus 250 LW Quilt. Only needed the wide model, but since I didn't buy it directly from Cumulus It came as a long-wide model. It says it has a comfort temp of +4 Celcius. But I have slept in it down to -5 - -7 C. Yes I did put on my icbreaker longjohns and had the pants on. I did have a T-shirt, hikingshirt, an Aclima merinowool hoodie and patagonia nanopuff on. But those were still things I had i my pack for camp. So depending on if you are a warm or a cold sleeper, you can really get a lot out of their quilts. I'm thinking of buying a custom quilt. Probebly a 350 with 900 cuin hydrophobic down and then get som extra down in it. It would make it easier in the outer fall and spring. And during winter I can use both of them at the same time, if it gets really cold. And you can as Cumulus to make a special elasticstrap for your sleepingmat, with 4 clip for attaching both quilts.
Do you ever get up and relieve yourself in those conditions? If so, how bad is it to get out of the warm bag in the middle of the night?

Thankfully I didn’t have to but my pro tip - bring a pee bottle. Especially at high altitude

Any options for women? I bet pee bottles are solely for men

@@oushbaboosh5578 If you are handy you can pee into a wide mouthed bottle as a women. I prefer to just nip out and brave the cold. Shewee type device can work too, better aim!

@@ChaseMountainsI never use a pee bottle, even though I generally sleep naked inside a winter bag. I'm used to standing outside in the mountains at night to pee, wearing just my birthday suit during winter storms, rain or snow. I'll use either a Rab 1100 down -25C sleeping bag, or for cowboy winter ❄️ sleeping without a tent, I'll use the Mountain Hardwear Ghost SL goose down -40C/-40F waterproof sleeping bag.
Anyone know the temperatures he was camping in are though?

Somebody got a new Drone!? GO slow, alway remind yourself "I could crash it THIS FLIGHT! Helps me. . . Personally, I'm such a restless sleeper I Love to using a quilt but, now I think I need to get a more insulated pad, R 3.5 just isn't cutting it for freezing temperatures. Maybe time for a quilt review, it is really nice, like being in your bed. . .

Im really terrified of crashing it. Especially since it’s got no obstacle avoidance 🫣
Great little video. Seems like a nice bag. 700 fill, though? Sure you know, canister stove works better if you put it in a hollowed out trough in the snow. The surrounding walls funnel the heat back, creating a warm pocket of continuous heated air, to keep canister warm, thus improving efficiency.

Hahha yeah you can’t see my legs in the video because they’re in that hole (which I dig with my skis) 🤣

There are also 850 fill options, I believe they wanted to keep it sturdier. Cumulus, Małachowski, Pajak - Polish manufacturers customize fill/another section/change down distribution etc. if you’d need to. One of the few businesses still going strong here 😂

@@ChaseMountains The new Cumulus Excuistic 1500g & 1200g sleeping bags have 900fp down and the Tenoqua1000g has 850fp down.
Get yourself a good quality bivouac bag. It might just save your life.
Only 700 fill power? I thought you said they use high quality down? That’s actually quite low.
