I tried being social in New York City for once (instead of in bed by 8:30)
Here's my truth about being social in new york city when I'd sometimes rather be in bed early scrolling on instagram. A few days in my life filling up my social battery, seeing & supporting friends... and then an announcement at the end!! New york is freezing right now so its lucky I left my bed at all lol. Can anyone relate?

I’ve been a fitness instructor, trainer, weight lifter, and group fitness participant since my 20’s. I’m now in my mid-50’s. I guess you could call that a “hobby”, but it’s gotten me through the highs and lows in my life. I have cancer, strokes, high blood pressure, and heart disease in my family and it’s always been important to me to stay on top of my health. But it’s always been fun doing it, pushing myself to become and stay strong, sharing my love for fitness with others, and discovering new and improved ways to keep this going as I age.

I love this!
I have given birth three times. And I can honestly say that I genuinely felt the same sense of accomplishment crossing the finish line at my first half marathon that I did giving birth. I mean, if you really think about it, they are kinda similar. Both take months of work and yes, training. Then the actual event finally arrives and you genuinely aren’t sure you can do it or make it thru. At times you feel like giving up, but you push thru ✨pun intended✨and are rewarded at the end w a prize (of sorts). When I began to cry at the sight of the finish line, it recalled the same emotion I had knowing one or two more pushes would bring my baby. Anyway. Can’t wait to see your latest video about the marathon!! 🎉
One of my hobbies that I can’t live without- doing “brain dumps” on my Google Keep notepad and/or voice notes. No judging myself, no orderly fashion, doesn’t need to be coherent, no deleting anything. This is one of the most cathartic, empowering and revealing habits I have. The other day on the plane, I was listening to one brain dump + analysis of said brain dump from 3 years ago and it was so new, so entertaining (like a podcast by me😂). I actually reminded myself some important life lessons I’d forgotten

Wow, I'm in awe of anyone who runs. I can barely run for a bus 😂 Well done, that was amazing! My hobbies are mostly art and craft related - I'm 'the creative one' amongst friends. I love upcycling things, glass painting, crochet, amongst other things. I do sometimes tell myself to make the most of it now because one day my eyesight won't be the same and my hands may not work as well. But I'd find a way to work around it.
Congratulations on qualifying for the NYC Marathon!! That's an awesome accomplishment. Writing music is my hobby/job that helps me to express myself in ways that I can't in normal conversations.

Love the bit about trying to cherish your able body, as well as running to clear your mind. I used to only try to exercise to try to lose weight (a.k.a. to punish myself for eating) but I've developed some health problems over the past few years and now I go for a lot more walks in nature and I'm trying out yoga to feel better in my own body and not only is it so much more motivating but I'm getting so much more out of it. Can't wait to see a video of you running in the NYC marathon!!! I'm sure all of your subscribers want to show up for you :)
Classical piano. Re-learning it after a 15 year break in my 30’s and hoping this time it sticks for the rest of my lifetime!
Climbing has been that hobby for me, never in my life have a felt strong but climbing has made me feel strong, can’t wait to see you run the marathon this year!
Congratulations for qualifying for the New York Marathon 2023, Chelsea! An anchievement most people aren't able to accomplish themselves, so it's well deserved.

Heyy! I’m obsessed with your vlogs and channel! I truly truly believe you deserve way way more subscribers than you currently have. It’s the fault of the algorithm I guess. But, don’t stop your vlogs! My dream is to move to nyc someday and live the hustle life
Loved going back and watching this! Running has recently (in the past few months) become a hobby of mine. It's the first time I've ever consistently exercised where it's not been about how I look or my weight... And that's been very freeing as someone who's struggled with disordered eating and habits. I think it must be the combination of being in the outdoors, with no mirrors around, and alone with my own thoughts that's made it such an enjoyable habit that I've quickly grown to love. It's my time for peace and quiet, to feel grateful to be getting in my 'greens and blues' for the day and listen to some music that pumps me up and sets me up for the day ahead😊 Congrats on running the half marathon too - what an achievement!
How great that you have running in your life as such a positive force. Congratulations on qualifying! The “hobby” (maybe activity is a better word for it) that sustains me is writing. I have called myself a writer since I was 10, and it is some thing that I do professionally and creatively and for personal development. It helps me express myself and process what’s going on in my life. It’s a big part of who I am.
Merry Christmas Chelsea, thank you ❤
I came across this channel at the start of this summer coz I was trying to figure out how to use the subway (I had an internship in NY). I found your videos helpful and so I subbed as an appreciation for your help. Nowadays I watch your videos feeling like I have a virtual friend who updates me on what’s going on in their life. I even genuinely smile when I see a new video. I’m glad you are able to find peace in your hobby and I’m proud of you for qualifying for the marathon friend!

@@ChelseaCallahan You should find meetup groups that do kayaking day trips. That's what I did when I lived in NYC. There is a whole world not too far from the city. Really made a difference in how I felt after I got stuck in a home/work routine and lived alone for too long. I didn't have a car but in these groups people usually offer rides to each other.
Love all your videos Chelsea, keep up the good work , take care and many greetings from Stockholm Sweden
Hobby I found during the pandemic: astrology. I can't picture life without it! I love your channel. You are so creative and will definitely go far in your life. I am from NY and relocated to Hawaii 5 years ago. Ironically, NYC is the hardest place to meet someone, especially romantically. That has been my experience anyway 🤷

My self-defining hobbies seems to be playing the guitar and programming. Yeah, right? And one of these is kinda impossible at the moment, 'cause I didn't have an opportunity to bring my guitar with me. Programming feels more like discovering the Universe through logic and construction. It's like LEGO, but in your mind, mostly. Sure, you can see the results of your program working right there on the computer, but it's so much more fun knowing exactly what happens under the hood. And music is the spiritual side, and I so sorely miss it. It's like having an exciting and delicious meal with so many flavors and so fulfilling afterwards, but for the soul. I hope I can find money and time to buy a guitar and start doing it again. And thanks for the new vid! I hope you'll find the missing gloves! And, of course, congrats on your huge and important accomplishment!

I've been watching your videos and I LOVE them! You give a very accurate description of living here. It's not all glitz and glam, but it's good. I share the same perspective. Our stories are very similar as well. I moved here in 2014 with no job or money, but I had a friend with a sofa who later put me out...long story! But I made it! I even won the NYC Housing Lottery. Life is good here, but it definitely has its challenges.

Yes I’m still here. It’s a brand new luxury building. I’m fancy 😂😂😂
My hobbies is crafting and adult coloring. I have anxiety and this helps me so much. I literally color everyday and craft at least a couple times a week.
A lasting rewarding hobby - exercise. Alone. I maintain a regular routine including strength, aerobic and agility components. Gym three times a week, bicycling twice or brisk walking if weather is bad. This is a major bulwark to my sanity, mental health. PS - running doesn’t ruin your knees.
There’s nothing as rewarding as training for racing and racing itself. I never felt as I tuned to who I really was as when I’d just fin8shed a race knowing I could not have run it faster. Nothing else has ever replaced that.
So i took up photography after my dad passed away and now i couldnt live without it - it lets me express all my emotions in pictures and then editing afterwards really allows me to make it my own

People have this idea that people in major cities are social 24/7...but that isn't always the case. When I lived in Chicago, I probably socialized out 2 times a week at most..but some weeks I stayed home with a good book and some coffee
Growing up poor in 1950's Brooklyn and stickin' it out for nearly forty years, I find it interesting that some folks WANT to move to Fun City (John Lindsay). Living there prior to air conditioned trains, CD's, AM only radio, no cell phones and lack of personal computers was a challenge, but what did we know?. I lived thru the Commie scare, duck-n-cover drills, several assignations, going to Woodstock, getting drafted and running in the 1978 NYC Marathon. No, I didn't win. Not that I loved the Apple, guess I was just used to it. Sounds like you're learning the ropes. You appear to be a smart kid and I think you'll do well. Life can be tough in the asphalt jungle but you can't quit, gotta have drive. I ain't no, whatcha call NYC expert, but I picked up more than a few survival tricks over the years. Don't worry about makin' friends. That will happen. Better a few good friends than a thousand acquaintances. BTW, my first apartment in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn was a studio (with use of the back yard). Got that pad in 1974, rent was $90/month and gas/electric was included. Stayed there till movin' out in 1989.
CONGRATULATIONS ON QUALIFYING!!!! Answer to your question: Writing is that hobby for me. It's such a huge part of how I perceive myself. 🥰

Performnig improv comedy really helped me - great fun - did it for 12 years everynight every weekend - but now you have to be politically correct - so its no fun - because doing improv, you cannot censor yourself, everyting has to be spontaneoous. - times have changed.
Hobbies? I've seen a guitar in your videos. You could try getting better and better at it. I'm still playing in my "old age".
