2:24 "media offline" as a full-time video editor, that pain felt so real😭 about the "point" of a capsule wardrobe...I think it's really up to your goal. If there's no need to be dogmatic about it, why do so?

This was great. I don't think that borrowing is cheating on your capsule. I think it's creative. I love that red patterned jacket and the plaid dress, but all your outfits are great. I've been trying consciously to wear pieces that I seldom wear at least a couple of times a week. It's fun!

I really love this video and your adjacent one. As a 35yr old former personal shopper/stylist who has probably designed 100-200 capsule wardrobes for individual clients, I have always felt that a successful capsule wardrobe is specifically about: catering pieces that bring you joy, comfort, individuality, and ease-of-use to your every single day, therefor eliminating the anxiety, distress, and/or confusion that comes from trying to pick random outfits day in and out without any real direction.

You have single-handedly changed the way I look at my wardrobe. I was in a rut - always seeing the same outfits in my closet and getting bored. I try to buy secondhand, but really try to be intentional and not to buy just for the sake of "shopping". So, even though I was bored with my closet, I had no idea what I "needed" to spice it up again. Thanks to you, it turns out that I just needed to shift my perspective. I have avoided layering for fear of it transporting me back to layering four tank tops in middle school in the 00's lol I didn't realize how many "styles" I had been afraid of trying because of what I thought they would look like in my mind. But, you encouraged me to play more with the clothes I already own, and I was so surprised to see what actually looked good on my body now and redefine what I want my style as an adult to be. I have fallen back in love with some really great pieces and have a much better idea of what I'm missing, in order to shop intentionally at thrift stores again. You're such a wholesome and intelligent "influencer" and I am so glad I found your channel!

I completely agree about getting set in your ways with styling. I recently tried numbering some clothing options to create outfits with a random number generator and yeah, some are awful, but it has definitely helped in making me consider wearing items in different combinations and see the full potential of certain pieces.

Your description of having a stronger, more cohesive sense of signature style, like a character in a show or cartoon character that we can easily identify is a HUGE reason why I want to develop my personal style! I want to be able to look at something and think, “that’s totally my style” or even have people text me and say, “I saw this and totally thought of you!!”

I feel like there’s a difference between buying new things and borrowing new things/receiving gifts. Borrowing from other people is more about wanting to experiment with another person’s wardrobe. It also shows a sense of appreciation for their style. And receiving gifts over the holidays shows how much someone loves you since they probably put a lot of thought into their gift.

I relate so hard to wearing PJs all day. I really like this analysis of your capsule wardrobe, and I don't think it's a bad thing that you weren't more creative with some of the outfits! Having access to your full wardrobe is great for creativity, but a capsule wardrobe, to me, is an easy way to grab some clothing and put together an outfit with little thought. Also, congrats on your channel growing!!

This was as interesting as I anticipated. Also: thought provoking. Thank you! I am firmly in the b. answer field. I recently went to an event where everyone brought clothes they did not want anymore and got to try on other people's things and maybe take it, that was awesome. I think, it's about not buying new stuff or only very consciously. Although your thoughts on trying new combinations with stuff one has is also very important and an inspiration. Finally: The part where you acknowledged the privilege of doing this as sort of an experiment really touched me. Chapeau! And thank you!

Interesting stuff Would be keen to see you do more of them to challenge that creativity like you were saying :)

Capsule wardrobe should be about having less stress about what to wear... borrowing or adding an accessory is not cheating and if it causes stress then that's what you have to question and that is what you should consider .. a capsule wardrobe is your personal wardrobe is not for nobody else... you're not having to prove yourself to anybody else.. it's for yourself, so do what feels right for you do what feels good, and don't worry about anybody else and nobody else will worry either ❤

Love how you mentioned the character thing, funnily enough I've been thinking about my most repeated (not pjs,I also just wear those when at home all day) outfits and how they could be what I wore if I was a character in a comic! And I vote for B, I'd personally feel very restricted with option A and just end up very stressed in the end. Also, amazing dedication for re-filming all the outfits! Hi! Great video! I love the scientific charts ;D I've been using the app stylebook for some months now - you can upload pics of all your clothes and log them into a calendar. For many years i've been trying to minimize my wardrobe, but i feel quite attached to clothes somehow :D now with the app i see exactly how often i wear which item and can be more rational when decluttering. But where it has helped me the most, is by pushing me to being more creative with what i already own. If an item has only been worn once, i feel bad for it and try to come up with fun ways to wear it (don't wanna neglect them ;D). This has also been a great help in spending less on clothes, because i no longer feel like sth is missing. It is plainly visible what items i rarely wear, so i don't feel tempted to get a similar one. So it also helps to find and reevaluate ones style. Also, there is a category "brands" that i upcycled to "where i got it from" - this way i can see how many items were bought new, secondhand, a gift, swopped or selfmade. I found that super interesting to see :) (i love me some analytics) The app is not free, but i've saved loads of money on buying clothes by using the app in a fun way. There are probs free apps that do the same, or you can track your wardrobe in your caldndar or in a good old excel. Also i only just discovered your channel and find your style so charming, exciting and inspiring! Bybyee

So, minimalists use capsule wardrobes to have almost nothing, infusing no stress outfit choices, so that they consume NOTHING (except replacing what's worn out) and to focus all their energy on OTHER THINGS, like work, family, travel, etc. They're still living their best life because they DON'T CARE ABOUT FASHION or their wardrobe too much. Maximalists can still use capsule wardrobes if they also don't care too much about fashion or their wardrobe, and want to think more about other things they're curating- like collectibles, furniture, or travel a ton. But, I love an approach where I have maybe triple a normal "capsule wardrobe" size-- like 120 instead of 40, as long as I LOVE EVERY PIECE. 120 items can make thousands of outfits, and I love them all, and it's great for the environment-- it works out exactly the same, because if minimalists have 40 items every season, that's 160 items throughout the year A N Y W A Y, so, what are we arguing over?? 🤪🤔🙃 I also am so grossed out by neutrals (except crisp white! That's my one neutral) Greige life isn't for me. Accumulate just a few pieces every couple of months, and you'll always have a shiny hit of dopamine without trashing the earth. And a fun, interesting, variegated wardrobe that never gets boring ❤
