When he was done with the grapes, I thought to myself "He ate the mango like a madman and made a giant mess. How the hell does he plan to open the melon? Chrush it against the wall?" And in the next shot I immediatly see him smashing it against the bathtub. I mean he did end up opening it with the tweezers, but I wasn't that far off. I guess he really didn't want to buy a knife when he spent like $600 on fruits, or even borrow one from the hotel or something.

i really like this. it feels genuine, and real. i could eat a silly-priced fruit, and yeah, it might be nice, and a great memory, but its not going to make me blow my budget if i ever get to japan. it's good to know, given how highly ranked the fruits are.

it's more like different type of mangos, the green ones usually have very thin skin which cannot be peeled like a banana.

I can almost guarantee Toast is the first human on Earth to eat a $200 melon in a bathtub with a pair of tweezers.

Petition for Toast to continue this as sort of a series, where he finds expensive foods (or drinks even!) in Japan and tries them to see if they’re worth it. Maybe comparing street foods, or trying some pricey restaurants, idk but this was actually pretty fun to watch!

OMG! I used to live in Miyazaki and even though I also don't really like fruit, that mango is out of this world. Only in Miyazaki at the peak of the season could you get one at the grocery store for about 1200 yen because it was local. 懐かしいなぁ～ I was so excited to see this thumbnail and crossed my fingers that you were talking about Taiyo no Tamago. Miyazaki is known for 3 exports: Miyazaki beef, Free-range (jidori) chicken, and the Taiyo no Tamago mango. The highest sale price so far at auction was ~$4000 for a pair. I'm so happy you tried it and loved it!

This reminded me of the series that EatYourKimchi studios used to do on these fruits. It was crazy seeing the difference as well as the way everything was packaged. I can't remember how many they did, all I know is the price got steeper the more videos they did.
