    From my knowledge of machine learning and advertising in general. You have to let the ads run for at least 1 full month because in (simple term) Etsy is learning what type of buyers are buying your products and they will match more and more your products to those customers and so on... If you need to know more let me know !

    To be fair to etsy, I had a phone call with an employee once and she told me it takes 1-2 weeks for the ads algorythm to figure out whom to show your ads so you get sales. So if you dont get enough sales the first week, maybe don't stop the adds, just switch up the items that didnt work at all and give it another week or two.

    I've noticed that with my shop. I ran ads at $2 a day for months and would up it to $5 over the weekend. Our ETSY orders on Saturday-Monday are always the highest. We had 60 orders in January and only 8 of them were from ads. I turned them off on Monday after getting 0 orders on $6 in ads spend. We've got 8 orders since I turned them off in the past 3 days. I think weekend ads are the way to go. Love the channel, great vids!

    I also started my shop recently I didn't do ads until a week or two in because I was getting like 3 visitors and no sales. Now I am doing ads and I am getting a few sales. However, I'm pretty much breaking even/losing money (I sell digital products so..they're cheaper). It's kind of frustrating because I feel like as a new shop the odds are stacked against you since the algorithm won't put you anywhere near the front unless you a) are getting sales/ favourites or b) getting traffic to start with. I don't know if you've had the same experiences but ahhh being a new seller definitely takes patience!!

    Just curious how you decided the items to add to your promotion. I think you said quick-sale items, but I was wondering if you took profit margin into account too? For example if you paid $50 for an ad and sold $100 of items, but it cost you $50 in supplies, material, and labor, you just broke even. Just curious if you looked at profit margin. I noticed your campaign was in late December - do you think the seasonality had any affect on your sales? Also, on your $385 day, assuming you take out materials and labor, how much was Etsy fees from that day? ~ Business Analytics Professor by Day - Crafter by Night. P.S. Great video, I am teaching a unit on online retail analytics right now.

  • @muslimcosmetics
    @muslimcosmetics3 жыл бұрын

    I run a cosmetics business. I am convinced Etsy will use up all the ad budget and then give you 1 sale. The value just isn't there for me. I have only ever turned my ads on on the weekend, kept it till I got a sale and then turned it off. This is because the first time I did ads, I did have it at $50. I got 2 sales first day, 1 sale the second day. It didn't even make my whole budget. However the next 4 days after that, it just kept using and using till the money I made from the sales was all gone. I did the same thing again few weeks later and the same thing happened. I also sell on Amazon, Amazon ads are pointless to the max. I already get organic sales daily, the ads just took away my money and gave me nothing. So to me, I think ads are not something I would want to waste my money on. Lucky you get so much money on your business though.

    I think you also have to consider/compare/analyze the total number of sales you get when you have ads vs when you don't. In other words, I have found I have up to 50% of my sales come from ads when I run them. But the total number of sales I get when I run ads vs when I don't is about the same. Maybe 2 or 3 more but nowhere near enough. Which means the customer that clicked in your ad would have found your item anyway. I think it's a good strategy when your views are low for a particular item and you have multiples of that item) and you want to get that initial boost in sales to rank that item higher until it can stand on its own.

    You need to let the ads run at least 30 days , and then contiune to run ads on the listings that were successful. Some listings might not do well because there might be too much completion on certain key words and phrases. you can start by running $10 a day for 90 days then adjust it as nessacery. $50 a day is too much for an unproven listing

    We have a six figure shop. I always do 20.00 a day. I going to try $30.00 per day to see what happens. I’ll come back and let you know. Also how many days do you do for shipping. I currently do 2 to 5 but have been thinking about dialing it back to 1 to 3?

    I almost forgot to come back.. haha! So I ran the adds 30.00 the first day 50.00 the rest of the days. I got more orders but I can’t really tell if it’s because of the ads or because its getting closer to Valentine’s Day. I do think it helps I’m just not clear how much. I know not the best answer. Sorry!

    I have just placed an order for my embroidery machine Brother PR670E, 6 needle machine. I want to make embroidered hoodies and sweatshirts. I am hoping to use ads to boost my visibility and sales. I already have a KZread channel and ads have certainly added to my growth. From my experience, the more expensive the ad the more you get out of it.

    If she was doing print on demand, probably not, but since she probably bulk buys her shirts thread and ink, she probably still makes a decent profit. I primarily make tote bags, and when I wholesale/bulk buy, each bag costs between 2 and 5 dollars and then I sell them for somewhere between 16 and 23 dollars. If I sell enough items, that is an amazing profit margin, even with the cost of ads.
