I travelled 9071km with Macbook Air M2 - Real use review

I take this Midnight M2 Macbook Air overseas for a documentary shoot. I took the ultra portable laptop instead of my 16 inch M1 Max Macbook Pro.

@@mirandadunsterville You are welcome. Another thing if you end up traveling in Europe or Asia, and take public transportation to get around, then traveling lighter would be better. If you have the means and take taxis, uber, grabs rides then the exta weight isn't so bad. I have spent close to two years traveling around. The less baggage and wieght I had the easier the mobile experience was. I did the slow travel experience where I would spend about three months in one location and still found traveling lighter was the better experience.

No scratches but finger print is the only thing visible in certain light. Wouldn’t get any other colour for MacBook Air though I love it. Space Grey is the safe option if you’re fussed about finger prints and silver usb ports.

Hey thanks. The battery I was showing in the video is made for video cameras and gear so it’s a little expensive. I’d get anything that can handle 40W power delivery via usb c (look into Anker). The vlock battery I used in the video was about $400/battery which isn’t worth it if you’re not using it for production.

I think the biggest reason why I want to buy the apple laptop is it's battery life. I've used windows all my life and I like it because I've never had compatibility issues with windows. I'm scared to buy Apple because I feel I might have compatibility issues. No one talks much about them. Like can I use MS Office, can I transfer stuff from my Android phone to the MacBook (phone behaving like a pen drive on windows) and vice versa. The battery life changes the way you use a laptop. When you don't have to worry about plugging in the laptop while working, it makes a huge difference because now you can work anywhere and that increases productivity significantly. The procrastinating thing comes under control because how easy it is to use it. Yeah! The battery life kinda impacts our life.

Not really. I use a M1 Pro 16" as daily driver and take it anywhere when i really need/want it, but i also have a car so weight is not an issue. In a basic backpack the 16" as well any other device fits in so i cant care less. The bigger screen makes it so much better to use than anything Also, remember - like 5 years ago a 15,4" notebook with 2,8kg was considered "light" and compact. A modern 16" MacBook weights about 2kg so even 30% less than a once "light" notebook. Also its smaller than most 15,4" notebooks. 15,4" was a "regular" notebook size, 13-14" a small notebook and >17" a "desktop replacement". Just seeing how powerful and silent M1/M2 macs are nowadays and with that screen size, yet "small" and "light" even the 16" - Its definately compact and light! The only issues i would see with the 16", as in the video seen regular usage on planes, so basically small areas to use might be a bit wrong for the biggest model. But how often you are that limited in space to be a problem?

How does the smaller screen size effect video editing? specifically colour grading?

Yes. I upgraded from 14 inch macbook pro to 16 inch specifically for editing on the go. It's doable but feels crammed.
