After watching the video, reading and commenting I realized if I ordered a High Country I could get both the 2 speed transfer case and max tow package with the 3.73 gears! I went to the dealership this morning and changed my order from the LTZ to a High Country optioned with both! Thank you!
Congratulations 🎉🍾🎈🎊 I’m so happy for you man. Thank you so much for sharing.
Great video, I have been looking for tow specs and having a tough time finding good info. Reading comments seems others have same issues. Looking forward to your updates.

Just took delivery of my ‘23 LTZ Z71 LZ0 and excuse my language but I FUCKING love it!!! Put 700 miles on it in two day driving from Dallas where I flew out to buy it to corpus where I live and then to San Antonio and back. So damn glad I waited on the LZ0. Thanks for the videos cause they were vital in my decision to wait!

You look happy. That’s good.
When traveling cruise is a must or I will be zipping down the road at 90 MPH. It takes such a small amount of throttle input to maintain speed. I usually get 28 MPG with 33 being my best. I find that keeping your RPM between 2-3.5 K gives you the fastest acceleration. I absolutely have no regrets in regards to buying this truck, I just wish it wasn't so expensive.
It's the spring rate. They will loosen up a bit over time.
I ordered a gmc. The problem is I can’t get the front bench with a higher gearing. I am forced to take the 3.22 gears. But I am not willing to budge on the front bench. My three no compromises are 6 foot 9 or 10 inch bed, and the diesel. All other options are negotiable.
I have a ‘20’ 3.0, Z71 off road package with the bigger off road tires, and the 3.73. It’s a great setup with the 3.0 and 3.73. My truck rides like a Cadillac it floats over the bumps.

I just can’t pull myself to put an Idash anywhere visible on my Escalades dashboard or pillar. The Bluetooth to my phone is enough I guess, but I do miss the “at your fingertips”info on the Idash Bigtime! I may have to rethink this.
Can't get these. Never see on lots. Will be interesting too see how reliable this engine is.
Interesting to hear about the stiffness with the max tow package.
I have an H1 with 6.5 turbo that could uses a refresh. I'm contemplating engine swap but 6.6 requires body lift and other mods. The LZ0 seems like I could improve power and mileage that would drop right in, making something that could be daily driven again. Well maybe when gas goes to $10 a gallon.

The problem is you need that 10 speed trans to make it work in that heavy of a vehicle. The power and torque is there but its higher rpms to get it. LBZ or LMM would be my choice for a donor and the 6 speed allison. No emissions to worry about either
Thanks for the post. I have been searching for more information on the LZ0, especially tow ratings (it doesn't sound like they increased at all). I don't know why Chevrolet seems to be keeping this such a secret (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places). I have a truck on order (no build date yet) that is very similar to yours but mine is a RST crew cab with the Max Tow package & a standard bed. I thought the LZ0 is supposed to have the same HP and Tq from idle to 3k ish RPM. If so, the big difference would be the 3.73 Gears making the difference. The revised turbo and variable vane programming help I’m sure. But the big difference would be the gears. The top end will be better also due to the increased flow injectors. @DemonWorks - okay 1600 rpm and below is the same power numbers. Gotcha. Then that’s a bigger deal than I imagined. From 1601 RPM on up you have a tic under 500 FtLb of Torque and over 300 HP all the way across the Tachometer! Man that is unbelievably perfect for a light to mid duty truck. Kick in the pants daily driver. Monster tow ability for the average suburban truck owner. GM hit a home run with this. We already know the MPG is awesome. Now, longevity. Will this newly designed architecture last as long as it’s grandfather? I’m talking Detroit diesels and the like. That’s a tall task my friend. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my LM2’s. Yes that’s plural. I own two of them. I gambled and took the plunge. I’m just hoping longevity is there. I guess we will see!

@@peltel2222 It has a faulty, belt driven oil pump that you need to drop the transmission to replace every 90k. The longevity isn't there lol. @peltel2222
Жыл бұрын
@@Connor4x4 I’m sorry but a lot of what you’re saying is a little bit incorrect. Yes you do have to drop the transmission to change the oil pump belt but that’s really not that big of a deal. When the engine first came out it was recommended that inspection of the pump belt be performed at 150,000 miles. That has recently been raised to 200,000 miles. Yes that is the official interval for the new LZ0 as well. So this engine came out approximately three years ago or a little bit more maybe and you have already thrown away 17 engines with oil pump failures? Wow that is simply amazing! I remember when I worked for Oldsmobile way back in the 80s when the DZ block 350 c.i. Cadillac/Oldsmobile/Buick 350 Diesel Nightmare started. From the sounds of things you have certainly stumbled upon a major fault in GM’s design that rivals even that terrible blunder! Based on your findings I think I’m going to sell both of my vehicles as soon as possible. My 2022 Sports Platinum 4x4 Escalade Onyx edition, and my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 4x4 Ultimate Edition both with LM2’s. On second thought…..NAHHH, No friggin way!!!
Is that up from the 9000lbs, from before and what is the GCVW?
The LZO def has more balls. I had the lm2 and this newer version is waay quicker of the line and thats that i went from a base model to a high trimmed sierra elevation so it weighs almost 1000 pounds more
Do you think the increased throttle response and agility you’re feeling is from the 3.73 gearing rather than the LZ0? Have you driven an LM2 with max tow to actually compare? I feel like you gave a lot of credit to the improved response to the revised motor when it could just be the gearing. Overall love the video! 1st one out there and pure impressions! I have not towed with my max tow equipped truck , yet. I will say, the LM2 handled the 6000lb open trailer no problem. 80mph up hills, not problem. Once I hooked up a camper trailer weighing like 3500lbs, I felt it with wind resistance. That being said, in your case, I would suggest you look into the max tow. A regular truck will tow fine, but the max tow will be better setup for the task.

The economy perks on the 3.0 is hard to overlook. And diesel engines if we’ll maintained can reach 1 million miles plus. The 2.7 from what I understand is performing well so far. I don’t want to take a chance on a 5.3 engine (I never thought I’d be saying that). But if I’m going to pay what they’re asking for a truck then it should be built to last.

I did the PDI, so I left everything on until I got home, in case I wanted to do additional filming. I had a 5.3 a few trucks ago, the 3.0 beats it in every way. The 6.2 will be quicker, sound cooler if you are into the V8 sound and will cost quite a bit more to own and use. I personally over the 3.0 Diesels, I think they have great power for what they are, and it will get better when banks releases the derringer. The 5.3 / 6.2 are much more simplistic and will likely be cheaper to maintain when it comes time for repairs... I love towing with the 3.0 though. So, it really depends on what your needs are.
Why did you go to the short bed vs the long bed? Which is your preference overall. I am on the fence. These 5’ boxes look odd and don’t hold much. I am used to 3/4 tons.

When I haul my dirt bikes in the longer bed, the tailgate would bang up and down over the bumps. With the short bed, the rear tire holds the tailgate down. I also started to like the looks of the shorter bed more. I still load the bed with crap all of the time and still haven't wished I had a bigger bed. My next truck will have the short bed....

@@DemonWorks I have never liked the look of the 5’ bed since GM started them back in ‘07. I’ve always thought the 6.5” bed looked best. However, they finally got it right with this platform. The bed finally fits the cab well. Thanks for the reply, great videos!
Hows the fuel mileage with the 3.73 gearing?

Do a max tow test please, would love to see mpg and how well it handles the 13000lbs

I don’t think I will ever go that high. I feel that if someone really wants to tow that heavy, they need a 3/4 ton at least.

Get a real truck if you want to tow anything that weighs more than 8000 pounds regularly.

@DemonWorks same reason I wouldn't tow 40K behind a 550. Just because you technically can doesn't mean you should. Are today's trucks more capable than a decade ago, yes. But common sense would have you utilizing a truck with plenty in reserve rather than maxed out. If you tow heavy a lot get the heavier duty truck.

@@outlaw11x I can agree with most of that but you lost me at your "real truck" comment from earlier ...
Is the LZO strictly a 2023 engine? I have a late 2022 GMC Sierra Denali w/ the 3.0, is there a data plate or something that gives the info on which engine is installed? Thanks.

23 was first year of the LZ0, in trucks only. You have the LM2, which is great as well ! 23 SUV’s are still getting that lm2

Look for the eighth character in the VIN. LM2 is “T” LZ0 is 8 but yeah only on 23+
You said you have had a new truck every year for 3 years in row? I couldn’t help but be curious why got rid of other ones? Im assuming just upgrading maybe? Im jealous haha

Upgrading. Started off with a RST and no options, then to RST with some options and tow mirrors, then the 22.5 RST with the new interior and a bunch of options then the current High Country. The values of the trucks continued going up so I just kept going with it. Luckily, we also get a tax break on trade ins.
So I just purchased a 2023 High Country With the LZ0 and at 185 miles the emission light is on and is at the dealership now. Talking with the tech he has another truck in the shop with the same issue and he is in contact with GM with no results yet. The light did come on at freezing temp 22 deg in Texas and it did not go into limp mode or de rated the engine. Comments ? Thanks in advance…..

@@DemonWorks No Sir, I will pass on the information as soon as I get the technician’s evaluation or resolved repair. But maybe some followers might help with information. This engine has excellent reviews and power to say the least.

all 23 trucks have the LZ0 engine, can verify by the 8th digit of the vin number. Should be "8"
Any plans to do any deleted or tunes? I’m trying to decide if I should go i6 duramax or 2500. I don’t need the crazy heavy towing which is why I was thinking i6 but I also love tuning and having a fun truck.
