Great idea to travel from place to place on such a good budget although I was a little stunned at your admission of having not a single Euro on you until finding the atm.

Thanks, Charles! I don't carry cash! 🤣 Lesson learned for sure.
Valletta, Malta was so beautiful! Thanks again for another fun and interesting trip with us! I'm looking forward to Greece! We Americans will let that one slide. 😃

Thanks, Fredwina! Malta was a great start, let's see what Greece has to offer 😁 HAHAHA It's not my fault!
I was in Valletta from March 31 till April7th and the weather was exactly like you are experiencing every day! Truly perfect weather!

Lol, the current City Gate is younger than you! The one before the current gate was built in 1964 - looking at pictures of it now, I agree that it was a horrendous piece of architecture, but as it's the gate of my childhood, I still feel a bit of nostalgia. It was demolished in 2011 and building the current gate took till 2014. So much controversy about the gate! Also, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the Cathedral you were at when you found the closed door.

Are you serious, Gwen? 🤣 I totally thought I was walking seeing the ancient city gate! That's funny but it is beautiful! I was confused about the cathedral but the map said that's it and I tried to walk around the whole place but no open doors! Thanks for watching 😁
Thanks

If it is Sunday, that’s the reason for closed shops no matter the cruise ship. No negotiation with Maltese when it is any festa or Sunday, it will be closed, which us good 😅😊

It was a Sunday, Marina 🤣 I'm surprised the locals shops and restaurants didn't take advantage of the cruise ship passengers visiting for the day!

You need to come back! Malta isn't just Valletta. It's a small island with big country energy. You need at least 5 days to do it any justice. Let's not forget to mention the second island Gozo which deserves at least a day trip but even more. You could have also easily hopped onto a ten minute ferry to the 3 cities and seen a bit more from there. Would've been doable even in a single day. Regarding your question whether Maltese young people stay or leave. Let me put it this way - Malta has a strong employment sector. It needs to tap into foreign nationals for both skilled and unskilled labour and has a well developed finance, IT and industrial sector. Unskilled labour is not very well paid here - that's the reality. But some young people do leave, not out of lack of opportunity mostly (though to be fair depends what opportunities you're looking for), but because there's a world out there that they want to experience. And yes, Malta is also small and kind of isolated, so if you want to have the mainland at your fingertips or drive into wide open spaces of nature, Malta is not your place for geographical reasons.

Hey, Ben ! I have friends from Taiwan who own homes here. Don't see how a busy-minded person can get a good life here. You are probably one of the best walker I know. I used to belong to the same club as Larry Young, silver medalist in Olympic Games. He caught me on the 14th mile in a marathon !

Your friends are lucky people, David! And probably rich 🤣 Malta is definitely a slow paced place, an active person would get bored I think but it really is beautiful!

@@TravelWithBen121 Ben, many Taiwanese have bought homes overseas just in case China decides to take back the island by force. The thing is, as you said, this place is just too slow-paced !
😱😱 5 countries in 5 days?? You are so fit… and young 🤣. I’d probably crash on the first night after walking so much and miss all my flights for the rest of the week! 🤣🤣. I really like this place! Love the quaint streets and the buildings with their colourful doors! I actually like the building that you stayed in. It has a nice and cosy courtyard. I love courtyards. I think it would look even nicer if it’s upgraded a little and maintained. What can I say - I just love old buildings 😬 Thanks for the video!

G’Day Ben. Malta was never on my “to see” list but that has changed. I loved the vibe of the place . It didn’t seem to have the craziness of Italy. I think you need to add a Ben’s Graffiti rating which seems like it would have been quite low there. I’m with Lim I would be so stuffed from all the walking you do. Your 5 day challenge would take me 10.

Will you just drop into a hotel for the night?
I'm curious, when you bought your plane tickets, did you buy them on the same day? Or did you buy them as you landed at the airport you arrived in daily? Again, so cool! This looks so fun. Malta looks fantastic 🤩
