I Took the Cheapest Flight Ever - LEVEL AIRLINE FLIGHT REVIEW

I took an extremely cheap flight from New York to Paris with a relatively new airline company and read so many horrible reviews on the internet about it. I tried it myself and decided to make my own review of Level.

    I read reviews of them canceling the flights without even giving notice and denying refunds and stuff like that. That's completely unethical and should be condemn. But as far as it concerns the travel experience itself, remember to bring food, headphones, something to keep you warm and a pillow if you need any, and you're good to go.

    I took a discount carrier last year from New York Stewart to Dublin for around $200, and was looking forward to more and more long-haul LCCs between the States and EU but, with the B737 Max problems, a lot of flights were cut (ex. Norwegian). Good to know there's Level now. Thanks for the review (esp. since I'm also 1.83 m)!

    @@WhatashameMaryJane Not sure how much I could add, but basically long-haul low-cost carriers (LCCs) were supposed to be the next big thing, due to more fuel efficient aircraft, like the Max. Norwegian still crosses the pond, but from a lot less EU airports, IIRC, and that's cause they had to ground their Maxs. I suggest looking up Wendover Productions and watching all their airline videos.

    The whole thing about French people wanting only to speak French is so true. I will be flying on Level next month, and I will be on the lookout for that. I'm American, but I speak French fluently since childhood, because my mother is French. The American influence of my English, however, is perceived by French people as maybe Caribbean or "New York" - So, when I speak to French people in French, they hear this slight accent, and immediately answer me in English because, in a sense, they do not want me speaking their language. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. One would think that maybe they want to show off their English skills, which would be nice, but that is usually not the case. Almost always, their English is so so so bad that the entire conversation becomes tedious. So, to fix this, I start speaking to them in very rapid and convoluted English - using subjunctive tenses and obscure words or idioms that only a native English speaker would easily understand. Within moments they surrender and speak in French again. If you are French, you know that you do this, do not deny it. LOL. BTW --- Mary Jane's channels is great. She should have a travel TV show.

    @davemattia

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@juniorrose5138 Okay - perfect example - Saturday night I went to a big birthday bash for one of my friends. Lots of people. I didn't know many of the people, but I was introduced to a couple and their two young children . They're visiting from France. I reintroduced myself in a half English and half French way - and they said - "ahhhh - you speak zeee French? Zat eeeese so nice?" Then, they continued in English with really heavy accents - like so heavy that they would need subtitles if they appeared on an English speaking TV show. Don't get me wrong, they were nice people, and they were very engaging, but I would suggest that most people only understood 1/3rd of what they said -- and they were a pair of chatterboxes. So guess what they do for a living in France? They are both English teachers. They not only teach children in a school, they teach immigrants at some kind of language arts school. I had to laugh because I imagined that year after year after year, they have been churning out students who speak English as bad as they do. It was hilarious. I suggested that I would like to spend summers in France and teach English. The husband responded, "No, you would not be good because the students would have too much of an American sound." After a few moments, a young woman came over and they introduced her as their nanny - she was a Russian and a former student. When she spoke English, she sounded EXACTLY LIKE THEM -- only worse! It wasn't something I would make fun of -- never - but it was amusing. They had created yet another bad-English clone. I mentioned this to my mother the following day and she said, "Why do you bother?" My mother also speaks Italian like a native speaker because as a child until she was 14, she was educated at a school in Asti, Italy because her aunt was the Mother Superior of the school. My mom's lament is that she should have taught me to speak Italian because I would have more use for it. So, anyway, I thought this was a funny story. I know this is a travel page and I shouldn't fill it with my issues, but it is helpful to let people know that if you speak or learn a little French, or you plan to learn a little for an upcoming trip to France - don't bother. Pretty much everyone you encounter in the tourist businesses will speak English nicely with a charming French accent. The rest ....not so much. LOL.

    Why native English wouldn’t try to pick up few French words and use them when traveling abroad? Foreign languages is learnt at school and the purpose is to use it when being adult. It’s not because English is the international language that the whole planet shud be fluent at it. If new French generation is getting better in English American shud make a way towards foreign languages and speak them. Not only the ones from different nationalities

I took 3 rt LAXBCN this year and if you ADD PACKEGA FOR EXTRA OVER ECONOMY BASIC PREIS, includes meals, luggage and drinks. To mention that enhanced the product. I had two amazing soft landings and crew exided availability. Also important comment. Economy has two size bathroom, like handicapped door and inner space I have not noticed it on pricy airline. I slept good, enjoyed a quiet flight and pleasant crew experience Highly recommended.pleanty of reduced price offers on email notification.

I see flight was full which is a great indicator how successful was the route. I think LCC on long haul has a niche and just needs to be adjusted to the correct destination and advertised to find it’s target 🎯

The A330s bellong to Iberia, crews sometimes come from Iberia, they have the same training and maintenance is the same. What happens is that all airlines of the group are polivalent. Hi, MJ. A few comments: first of all, I disagree with you when you say that French people only want to speak french. Not true, not my experience. ITS THE AMERICANS who only want to speak english and who believe that english is the only language that should be spoken by everybody! Second point (technical): please check the sound level (Yeah... it's a pun) of the musical "segments" in your vlogs: their sound level is appreciably higher than the sound level when there is only your voice. It's annoying (well... it's small thing, not a major disaster!) because if I'm listening to your posts at night, when family members are sleeping and the house is quiet, I have to quickly lower the sound level and then bring it back up when the music stops and you start talking. A small detail. Part of "learning" the trade, I guess. Good luck and keep coming up with such interesting and USEFUL topics!

  • @WhatashameMaryJane

    @WhatashameMaryJane

    Yep I'm looking forward to start learning the basics of sound editing very soon. In my opinions Americans expect everyone else to speak English, but they're not even aware of the fact that this is absurd (I treat Americans like little kids: when they have nonsensical behaviors I just tap them on the head and say "yes, yes, it's like you say"). With the French the situation is 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 different. They know that only few foreigners speak French and they are aware of the fact that their language is not as spread, but they WANT everyone else to learn it. I consider the American behavior naive, the French one arrogant. I don't know if I was able to explain myself though.

    Just not agree with you on the reclining manners. I sat an a plane for 14 hours in front of a tall guy. I cannot recline because his legs won't have enough space. I could not sleep sitting straight and all that. When I look back he has his seat fully recline sleeping, I feel like my comfort was stolen. I think if you have to ask ppl to give up their comfort for you, it would be better to consider paying it yourself. Appreciate your review tho, very informative.

  • @WhatashameMaryJane

    @WhatashameMaryJane

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah let's say that I was talking about the majority of the flights, which are 2-3 hours long. If you're going to spend more than five hours on a plane you need to change position and get some decent sleep. When I do recline my seat I usually turn to the person behind me and at least warn them that I'm going to recline. I think it's nice to acknowledge the awareness that what you're about to do is going to affect someone else's experience...
