    My husband and both took the test. He scored on more of the mid to low end, whereas, I scored very high. Husband has been diagnosed with Asperger’s since the age of 12. I was just told that I was just “lazy” and “unmotivated” and there was “nothing wrong” with me. Given my constant mental state, I beg to differ.

    There's a lot of people in the world who get told they're "normal" and don't get treated. I had a similar experiense even though I was diagnosed, so I can understand the struggles. My mother decided that even though I was heavily on the spectrum I was able to get over it and attend a normal school without any professional help. I am now a 24 year old man. And I am still struggling with the basics in my every day life. And I can barely find a job or study. And have motivation issues. I assume it went a similar direction for you right?

    Oh yeah. I was “the smart kid”, the “know-it-all”, the quiet kid who knew all the answers and would go far in life. When I did struggle, it was because I wasn’t “trying hard enough” and I “need to just apply myself” when nothing I did could force my mind into absorbing the information. I was put in AP classes because I was “smart” when really I needed to be in special classes. That’s because, when I came across a subject that I didn’t know, it killed me. Like I couldn’t function cause I would see myself as a failure and a loser when I couldn’t do something. I have a hard time keeping jobs because of my learning capabilities and my anxiety. All of that could have been avoided if my parents’ would’ve taken the time to have me tested as a kid and put me in the classes I needed instead of putting me in college level or AP classes cause I was “smart”.

  • @crutonpreton15

    @crutonpreton15

    2 ай бұрын

    My family built me up to be the "smart" kid, and pretty much made me hide all of the things that made me unique emotionally wise, which stunted my growth, but I always had that trump card of being "smarter". This CRIPPLED my identity the moment I lost not only my main schedule (my parents would remind me to do homework), but as soon as school went online, I was out of my element and was really bad at it and it crushed my identity. I'm better now, but the mental gymnastics that society plays on us infuriates me sometimes, especially when systems rarely are fluid enough to account for our unique brains and paces.

    I was often misplaced in Special Ed classes and daycares because of my Asperger’s. I was probably on of the smartest in my elementary grades academically, but socially I didn’t care to interact. I got put in classes with kids that had violent mental issues, very physical ticks, and were solely dependent on others for mobility. Schools definitely didn’t know how to separate Spectrum disorders then.

    I have Autism spectrum disorder, I will say, ADHD and Autism can have VERY similar symptoms or traits, if you aren’t sure you’re autistic but check quite a few boxes, look into ADHD! A lot of people are commonly misdiagnosed as ADHD when they’re autistic, so anyone who’s been labeled as ADHD might want to check out some more things about autism and see if they relate more to one versus the other! I was misdiagnosed when I was little and have only been rediagnosed as autistic at 19. Before you do begin claiming you are either or, do ALOT of research first! Make sure to learn about different coping mechanisms for both and see which works for you best as well! I hope everyone who feels they’re autistic gets their diagnosis someday.

    i was always just a "weird" person but i went through chemotherapy, and as i was going through it i figured that i may be autistic, asked for a psychiatrist psychologist both cus i still dont really know the difference and the one that was trained for it referred me to adult autism registration...i finished chemotherapy and have grown back my hair a fair bit and still am in queue for diagnosis :)

    My friends half ass tricked me into taking a tism test. And I say that because like halfway through there was a question about light type/brightness that tipped me off. But out of genuine curiosity, I still did the test as honestly as I could and I ended up scoring the lowest in my friend group.

    I took the test and to be fair I am fairly certain I had it before taking but I scored a 197 so I have a heavy touch of the 'tism

    A lot of these questions are kind of a "if you know, you know" type of deal, so it makes sense for someone who really doesn't seem like they're noticably on the spectrum to not understand them

    What some people don’t realize is ADHD and Autism has some overlapping traits and symptoms, so you can just be a little ADHD and not autistic at all. Also possible to have both too. I just know I have ADHD and definitely not autism, but I have some similar struggles; like Hypersensitivity, needing a structured routine, and random hugs bother me.

    I have the tism and mental tard brain. I got the diagnosis in the third grade. I do think it's cool that some youtubers are actually covering this whether it's a joke or not. :)

    I have high functioning Autism with ADHD and let me tell you, it is interesting. I can remember the most outlandish and strangest things but when asked about remembering simple things I just forget.
