PvE games often try to scam their players. E.g in Payday 2 they have a ton of DLCs, but they haven't learned because Now Payday 3 they said they will take the same DLC aproach, plus they will also add an in-game store for cosmetics in 2025 & a premium currency. Other PVE games that come to mind with premium currency are: Rainbow Six Exttraction (had an in-game store for cosmetics), killing floor 2, etc

This is only half of it. They were also changing their website and what is included in the EOD, live during LVNDMARK's stream. Removing the line "includes all subsquent DLCs" from the EOD account and adding it to unheard. Won't suprise me if they tried to do the same thing again with another 400 dollar editon on launch. Edit. It seems Nikita is starting to walk back or maybe was changing different line of text. I guess my overall point was. They're trying to manipulate us and pull the wool over our eyes. And they will do it again

I played it for about 3 hours and got bored. Did well in multiplayer matches on whatever map I was on, but as a fresh noob I obviously had no idea where my extracts were on a massive map and ran out the time limit, losing all the crap i’d got after killing 4-5 scavs or players. Messed around with that mode where you can spawn into a map with bots but you don’t get to keep loot to try and learn maps, but it got old quick. It’s not made for casual players, unless those casual players are willing to sink hours into learning basic things like where to go on a map. And at least for me, the loading times were absolutely asinine and i’d have to sit there for 10 minutes while a I loaded into a single match

Charging $150 for playable content is absurd in itself. Charging $250 for playable content is unforgivable.

I stopped playing Tarkov years ago when the playerbase started to grow, causing the strange meta of almost CoD-like speed combat that has evolved now. I think they've leaned so hard into that meta with things like the grenade launchers, large caliber guns, LMGs, etc and nearly unlimited money from the hideout, that they lost sight of what the game originally was. I miss the days of going around the map slowly, looting what I needed or completing missions, and being careful about engaging other players because dying meant something. Now after dying all you need to do is go into your hideout, get some bitcoin, vendor it and buy your entire kit back from the flea market in a few clicks.

When this game came out the inertia was awful chads literally just stomped. What Tarkov were you playing? As games get older they get harder because people get better. Not to mention when they lose casuals. Then its just a pool of players who want to better at the game. So yea harder game and this game is hard to begin with.

I gotta agree with you. I've been griping about OG tarkov compared to now for so long, I think my friends are annoyed about it: But its certainly far, far different than what it started out as. OG tarkov really had that "everything is F*'d kind of feel. Finding an M4 was a miracle, and something you cherished for a long time. I miss when everyone had shitty AK's and PM pistols, and half the scav loot was partially broken weapons. It really had that STALKER vibe. It was slow. Good loot was rare. And there wasn't this insane, annoying meta there is now.

Definitely had the most fun when it was just getting popular. Everyone sucked and you were still learning the game. Me and my friends didn't even bother with any quests back then, we just played for fun and progressed through looting and killing.

To be fair to Star Citizen due to that comparison you made : You can actually get all ships in the shop by simply playing the game. In EFT, you cannot get the Unheard edition by spending some fictional money...

I haven't played star citizen (I wouldn't even try until I get a better PC) but I have seen some of the prices on their ships in real currency. You could theoretically earn those ships using in game currency, but can you practically? Helldivers 2 for instance, has a currency you can buy or earn, but it is practically feasible for a person to earn enough premium currency with gameplay to buy the monthly DLC on a monthly basis.

Some studios can't help but think they're better than their customers, and that they're the only option, so they can get away with ridiculous levels of asshattery. No matter how many times you tell some people that they literally just quickly made an overpriced coop mode in 2 weeks AFTER Incursion released and they saw they can make some money from it, they think it's "perfectly fine" and "worth it". So yes, they actually do in fact absolutely bank in on a a portion of the player base. Do they care if their player base drops? Probably not, they already got your money. If everyone leaves: What do they care? They'll just close the gates and leave with their earnings. The money some people already spent on those versions could've literally been given to the Incursion & Gray Zone Warfare devs, at least those (especially Incursion as the first one that got announced, back then as Project Quarantine) did come out building a game from the ground up to satisfy the question for coop that was unanswered for years, those are smaller devs, they're not precisely BSG who are still swimming in millions - and in incursions case the devs even specifically allow mods and want people to create them, for 16.50€ instead of 250€ without taxes, lol.

I loved Tarkov, then took a break one wipe and came back to a banned account, I sent a ticket to the devs and asked if I can get unbanned or at least find out why I was banned. I was told it's in the terms and conditions that they can ban anyone and no reason needs to be provided. I never cheated and never even reached a super high level or even got super rich. I guess they assumed I'd buy another account but gg I'm sad about quitting but it is what it is.

1:27 Actually, the SPT mod is not co-op and never will be. SPT stands for 'Single Player Tarkov' and is ONLY single player intentionally. The mod team that made it aren't giving BSG any ammo to use against them in court if BSG try to cease and desist them. Also, it installs to a new folder directory and does not use your online account in any way so BSG has NO idea you are playing SPT.

Nikita still hasn’t apologised. He’s regretful and disappointed that he got caught however. Not suprised we’re only just getting to shine a light on the greed of BSG and their lack of care towards the community. A new edition was never needed. They just needed to fix their game. They had a loyal community that supported the game through and through, but still decided they wanted to throw it all away. I’ll miss tarkov, only pre innertia though.

Every EFT player should check out the single player mod (SPT), especially those that want offline but don't have EoD or want to buy it.. There is absolutely no way for BSG to know that you're using it unless you show them publicly. SPT creates it's own server on your computer and does not connect to BSG servers.

would also like to add, if you want to be able to play pve with your friends like the unheard edition has, you can. MPT (Project Fika) is a free mod that allows a peer-to-peer server connection to be established between SPT launchers for co-op in SPT. Setup was mildly jank and a tad bit confusing, but simple enough using radmin. My friend and i are on level 2 traders and have done around 30 raids with absolutely 0 hiccups!

Because they're very well aware that some people will buy it regardless. And loads will forgive it either way - in fact, they already got some people defending the pack who bought it, so they achieved everything they wanted even if they'd give everything for free to everyone. what i cannot get my head arround is... the "no wipe", first, existing for just SOME players, and seccond, not being included on the edge of darkness edition... simply blows my mind.

Ghosts of tabor took me from Tarkov. Awesome VR shooter inspired by tarkov. you even get a home base to fill with guns and cool stuff.

BIG difference in star citizen is those ships are always made available in game to purchase 3-6 months later.

Star Citizens monetization has been communicated to all backers back in 2013 and they been supportive of this approach. All changes since then have been wished for by the community - like the ability to upgrade purchases or to buy back previously deleted purchases. Its totally ok to "not be ok" with that approach and stay out of it.

If you don't realise connection between those two niche loot-based shooters it's over for you, and just fyi EFT authors never hid their inspirations and openly marketed alpha EFT as "multiplayer STALKER" in STALKER spaces early on (~2017)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Nikita also moved the goalpost for when "access to DLC" begins for EOD owners to post official launch. I suspect he's going to claim any new modes added during EFT's beta phase are not part of EOD's DLC access bc the game isn't fully released yet.

its been 2 days hell they could go dark not long after this shut off lights sell assets, and find somebody to buy the game from them and just move on like nothing ever happened, hell tencent would probably buy it up in a heart beat and still not suck as bad as BSG and that is worse case scenario that a Chinese company takes over, i hate ubisoft but its either them or Microsoft

I haven’t watched level cap since I watched herbs gaming big bump of nostalgia today

I’m fairly new to Tarkov (January 2024) and I really enjoy the core difficult gameplay that eft has to offer. I got standard edition for around 40 bucks. The game is so good I even want to do a hardcore run for next wipe, it sucks seeing this company just shoot itself in the foot as if they don’t get it together I’ll most likely switch to gray zone warfare later this year

The argument in court over the EOD thing would be that the unheard edition includes a downloaded update but there are features behind a paywall. If anything this is just prompt for us as the people to get "DLC" or Downloadable Content a legal definition. something like - Any increase in features, playable content, restricted behind a seperate download from the original base game. or something

I've seen other devs fumble the bag harder. But hell they tripped on that one and went down the whole flight of stairs

lets see now if LevelCapGaming will use the same tone when talking about Star Citizen

I spent 210 on two hard drives. With them combined i can hold well over triple the games i could spend on this. That sure is something

Pro tip for HDD savings, you can buy refurbished enterprise drives (4x the expected life of a normal consumer drive) and they're filled with helium.

Yeah, but sadly gray zone has the same crappy payment options as tarkov, just not as expensive and greedy.

I remember seeing trailers and gameplay in 2014-2015 in my realistic survival game phase and was in awe. Never played it as i only recently got into PC, but seems like i dodged a bullet

It's a good game. Problem is the same issues that plagued it for years (audio, recoil, cheaters) still do to this day and the only one they fixed was recoil.

@@pannik_lucas When I thought that the devs were Ukrainian, I thought as a joke that they made the prices so ridiculously high to support the Ukrainian war effort. But since the devs are Russians, those high prices will now in a way support the Russian war effort (via taxes of course) against the country, where Tarkov’s inspiration comes from. If you think it this way, than it makes those (unnecessary) prices (I’m not a Tarkov player, so I don’t know if 150 and 250 are worth it) kinda messed up.

when i saw this version came out, it just made me more excited for gray zone warfare lmao

the whole stalker situation is even funnie when we take on account that stalker 2 about to come out, with PVP multiplayer only, but since it will run on unreal 5 it will be easy to mod for PVE and even servers like in gta 5. i can already bet that the grok and anomaly team are already taking a look at those leaked files.

Gray Zone Warfare is coming into early access on Steam tomorrow. It is both 1) a very similar game and 2) run by someone else. Just food for thought.

No. Because: a) a court would have to rule that it in fact does count as a DLC (and therefor would have to be included), otherwise it's just a differentiated product within the same application. b) they're in russia, so good luck getting them to even appear in court, they'll at best laugh at you.

Furthermore several Reddit users are now known to have requested a refund of their “Edge of Darknesses Edition” with the understanding that if BSG don’t respond within 30 days they can and will submit a Lawsuit.

It's entirely possible but that would be a long drawn out back and forth. The Consumers have evidence of BSG literally changing the description of what was in EoD in near real time. Since PVE isn't a near separate entity like Arena, it could be stated that PVE is DLC, but it is not a easy argument considering the bs BSG is pulling with it's personal definitions of things. Also the original TOS would have to be looked over. BSG has proven that they have no issues with rewriting things on the fly. So the TOS people signed when EoD was still on the market, and what is visible at the moment could be different since this all started. People could try to do a class action. But if BSG is slowly sinking, thus why the Unheard of Bundle exists, there might not be anything to win. Long story short. It's might not even be worth trying.

You just skimmed over a major FUBAR situation.

Early tarkov devs worked on stalker with stalker devs, stalker devs also helped them with their first arena extraction shooter they made before tarkov.

I've wanted to buy EFT for awhile, and when I finally was ready to pull the trigger, I see this lol

Battlestate games is cashing the fuck out. arena breakout is going to kill it, not becuase its wayyyy better or more inovative, but because it has a huge dev team that listens to its player base, i played it on mobile and still do. they have competetive teams in china on their own version. For level infinite (Arena Breakout) or AB money isnt a problem theyre huge. they have more daily players than tarkov. I wouldnt doubt most tarkov streamers move on, i wouldnt be suprised if they stayed though. My point is that AB is starting its cycle and by god are they good devs. they actually fucking listen. broken weapons get nerfed, while op weapons get balance changed. ALSO THE MARKET IS BETTER. You guys know that bullshit about not being able to sell items or gear to flee? well guess what AB fixed that. When you buy something from the market it will have a "supply marker" meaning that if you want to sell it back on the market you have to run through a raid with it first, ALSO if this item has a marker that means it cannot be put in your case. so if you die beacuse you wanted to horde you fucked up. THE only thing this doesnt happen on is bullets, while yes you can manipulate the market, you have to be incredibly rich and have rich friends. AB is also new, new maps, missions, weapons and atmosphere. Tarkov is cashing the fuck out because of that broken ass game everyone seems to complain after every update. dont get me wrong tarkov is great. i just rather see people play arena breakout because of its ranked mode. makes the game interesting and gives good players some extra stuff and objectives

Small number streamers probably stay with Tarkov, otherwise they'll loose their viewership. Bigger Streamers like Slob, Lupo, Shroud etc can easily move on without risking anything. But I agree with everything else you said.

I play star citizen and I can admit the prices on ships are pretty high. But at least with those ships have full interiors and heavily detailed, so it at least feel like its semi worth it ya know. Cant buy Single player EFT with in game currency lmao.
