TBF, Wakuraba did what pretty much any rational person would do in that situation. Muzan had all the Lower Moons set up to fail and die no matter what they said or did, and the death of Makugo (Lower Moon 4) had just made that fact painfully clear: LM4: I’m scared to death of the Hashira! MUZAN: You’re a coward! YOU MUST DIE!! LM4: No wait; I won’t be a coward anymore! I’ll lay down my life for you! MUZAN: Are you contradicting me?! YOU MUST DIE!! After that whole fiasco, Wakuraba quickly figured out that his only chance of survival was to try to run for it. He didn’t make it far in the end, but his reasoning was perfectly logical in context.

The reason he killed the lower moons was cuz he thought they were fodder and never really accomplished any of his tasks and he constantly had to keep changing them and replacing them cuz they always kept dying over and over so he ended up just disbanding them. He also doesn’t want too many demons anyways cuz he wants demons to be more on a low profile until he obtains the blue spider lily

I mean the lower moons didn’t really matter. If he was actually smart he would’ve just sent Kokushibo, Doma and Akaza everywhere to do the jobs since they‘re easily strong enough to face off against multiple hashiras. Like those three are the only ones he needs but he never utilizes them until the very end. Imagine if he sent Doma or Akaza to the sword smithing village

Muzan’s fatal flaw as a character is that he looks down on humans. He sees them as inferior to him in every way, so of course they wouldn’t be able to find something that had eluded him for centuries. I’m also not entirely sure he knew the flower only bloomed by day. That being said the only information on the plant came from humans so that should have been a clue that he could use humans to find the blue spider lily. Honestly his behaviors are contradictory: he discounts the demon slayers as not being strong enough to worry about, but hides away as if he’s terrified of being tracked down. He wants the blue spider lily, but doesn’t seem interested in doing even the most common sense actions like asking someone who deals in flowers what they know.

The point is that muzon could have put two and two together and thought of some way to make him an asset rather than discard him.

He was foolish because he could never fathom that as a demon the flower would have been inaccessible to him. The reason why he couldn’t find the flower was because he was a demon. To be fair though he did use humans to his benefit with his various disguises but the flowers own needs did make it a rare treasure in its own right. They only bloomed a few days in a year only in daylight not to mention if conditions weren’t right then they wouldn’t bloom at all. However it is very satisfying to know that given his character there would have been no way for him to ever achieve that goal.

I think it's all three as part of why he hates Tanjiro and goes into a rage because Tanjiro reminded him of the Demon Slayer that nearly killed him. Him a demon, something superior to a pathetic human who dies in the blink of an eye while demons are immortal and neigh unkillable. He did employ humans in the past though and they all failed him to so he gave up on human help. And he didn’t know the blue spider lily only bloomed in sunlight, he just thought it was somewhere super hard to find. Him finding humans to help him wasn’t elaborated on but it was indeed shown for a second in a flashback of his life. The part of the flashback I’m talking about is where he says no matter who he got to help him they always failed (or something like that) and it shows three or four human faces that suddenly scream after his clawed hand grasps at them(hinting that he killed all the humans he employed). I’m pretty sure that was shown somewhere in the manga too.

Crows are not nocturnal. It be a waste of his time chasing birds that sleep during the night and hunt during the day.

It kinda of makes sense as he has a lot of time on his hands so he always experimenting it is also understandable that he underestimates the Demon Slayer Corps, just think about it even after centuries have gone by but no one can defeat an upper rank. This is explained in frieren too.
