Walking while photographing is the best way to make pictures. Senses are sharper, thoughts clearer, feelings deeper, dreams are better. And really lovely work, too.
Haven't shot it myself yet. Haven't watched this video yet. But yes, It IS worth it. Anything to support new film stocks and those who continue to produce them!!

But it's not new stock. You aren't supporting anything other than their business of taking already existing products and upping the price. They are nothing but a middle-man. If you want to support the film industry, you should see if any local stores are re-spooling and developing ECN-2 process Kodak 250D (what this film is)

@@SAGGING_GUT It's new in that they are creating something readily available for people to shoot. Oh yes, that "local" shop would respools ECN-2 process Kodak 250D, that doesn't exist or cost way more. It's about making film stock more accessible to everyone, while offering something different. You can argue the semantics of "new" or "different" all you want, but you miss the bigger picture.
I have been using long weekend film pouch, and it's been working great. I always used plastic zip bag and threw it away, but now I do not have to use plastic anymore! the pouch is so much better than those film cases! I love the material and partition in the bag.
Great video dude! I am soooo excited to get the two rolls I ordered and test them out when I go to Chicago
I like the color scheme of this new film stock, it has those classic halations, but a lot more subtle, which I like. Also I got my copy of ‘From the Sunny Side of the Street’ this week and I’m enjoying it a lot!

Just a heads up, if you like those subtle halations, Tilden has made an offshoot of their diffusion filters called GlitterGlass that is spot on at strength level 1. Not that you asked lol

You make me rethink the way I see the environment in which I live. I've gone to San Pedro and the Korean Friendship bell on multiple occasions and have never seen it the way I just saw in your images. This is a big eye opener.
Such a pretty film stock! Huge of of this, thanks Willem!
Such an amazing film! Thanks for the video!
Spanking job! I'm so glad I've backed this project and can't wait to receive the rolls.
I think I need to get couple rolls and try that one. Thanks for sharing your images and thoughts on 400D. I was surprised to see that you were shooing in my neighborhood. I walk those streets every day.
The video person really makes your work stronger , I love the eye of the video person it’s really strong composition
Love these! Can’t wait to get my rolls
I still haven't tried Cinestill, but I love the colors and halation! Definitely going to buy some soon!
Great video as always!
I’m a big fan of 50D, can’t wait to try this one
Always nice watching your videos.
Nice one, really interesting stock and photos. I think the halation's add character but as you mentioned might not be something id shoot all the time.
Willem is definitely in his flower photography phase😂... The "portal" one is my fav out of the lot👍
Perfect as always!
Love how much beauty you find in monotony, or everyday scenes. I find it so hard to convince myself to shoot a picture on film, but you inspire me to do the opposite thank you.
Can't wait to get mine! Looks like a fun summer film. Love the vid and the photos, as usual~ it's funny seeing peacocks just roaming around freely in the neighbourhood 😂
I haven't got mine yet but looks so nice! even the day time halation look good! thanks for the video!
The shot at 2:29 is beautiful. Thanks for the nice video review!
I kept wondering if you had Jake’s Leica! So awesome to see him in this 👏
OH YEEAAAHHHH!!! NEW WILLEM VIDEO 😩🕺✨
Very Nice video will ! this film is sooo cool 👌 good job 👍
I have a fun idea: dslr or mirrorless scanning has become a very popular alternative to scanning film, so, what if you take a photo of another photo with film? Like, you scan a negative with your slr.. I mean, negative with negative=positive right? It would be interesting to see what that would look like, though its probably just a waste of money

I’m not sure if you mean duplicating a digital image (some form of light box display?) or film on film. If the latter some of us have been doing that for decades! Either to have back ups before the digital age (I used to send duplicates to the Image Libraries that I sold to:through way back when) , to increase contrast and saturation and to change tonality etc by copying, say Ektachrome onto Velvia.

I was hoping you'd make your way to the Friendship Bell at some point since you moved out! The new stock looks like a trip, the colors pop in a really interesting way.
Color palette almost reminds me of the old school Eastmancolor motion picture stock. Might have to try this out.
That halation is nuts. Reminds me for sure of shooting Kodak 250d for sure!
Good that I've backed this stuff
Thanks for the detailed review and cool frames! On a totally unrelated question, where did you get your sweet bag/satchel from??
9:59 WOW the red halation is so pronounced here! 😍

Yoooo every pic was amazing but that freakin flash photo in the car was nutssss🤯
San Pedro!!! Love photographing that area!
Id on the shoulderbag please. Really nice one!
This video is gonna be a BANGER I can already tell! Picked up the Santa Fe shoulder bag and I am STOKED, sadly won't be in before my trip to SF but still just as excited
Awesome video! But what’s even more awesome is the CRV having the spare cover! Hahaha hard to find
I wasnt able to get 400D looking for a 400H alternative and this popped out nice video~ unfortunately its 15$ which is quite expensive derpy "its something when you see it" ooooh! That is quote of the day
I naturally assumed this was 250D with the remjet removed. The higher ISO rating would be consistent with 800T, which is 500T. It does vaguely have a look of 250D.... did you have to cancel cyan out of the shadows when scanning? Nice film regardless.
I really can’t get over the fact that the light is always so beautiful around where you live. Can someone tell me if it’s always this way or does he show only good days 😂😂
Look at Willem getting that fade. LA is rubbing off on him now 😂👍🏽
Hi, love the video! One question, do you use flash in some on these photos?
I mean your editing is first class so it hard to tell for me if this film is so special. The results are amazing I think anyhow. So it should not be a bad choice.

Rocking the Sling Blade haircut 👍 get ya some French fried potaters
It reminds me a lot of the vision3 250D processed in c41 and a roll of eterna 250D I've shot on 16mm. That hearthy look not too easy to correct on a digital process, that still could be appealing to a lot of people and could suit a lot different lighting condition. It's all personal. I would be curious to shoot it at night
Hmm, what if this is Ultramax 400 on a vision 3 base? Looking forward to getting mine and trying it out!
It's most certainly another modified film of Kodak. They probably get the film delivered without the remjet now - translated into "not a repackaged motion picture film". It looks very similar to the Kodak Vision3 250D. Which can be had for $5 if you look around. Beats Portra all the way
@trulsdirio
2 жыл бұрын
I mean they might pretty much get all their film that way now. They have had their own edge markings done by Kodak for a while, so it would be strange if that would not go in hand with Kodak just omitting the remjet application as well.

I agree, even if the look is not that similar, behaves like a 250D. Knowing that EVERY (maybe almost) Cinestill item is a rebranded product from another company, I don’t have doubts that is Kodak
When are bags restocking !!? I ordered mine ages ago not knowing they’re on back order ); I also got a strap that I’m dying to throw on my camera
will you test the medium format version of this film stock when it comes out?
Damn,,, can't believe you were in my neighborhood and I didn't know! San Pedro has some crazy good views, right!? Hope to run into you some day.

Aww...friendship at the Korean friendship bell. 🤗🔔📸
Oh~beautiful film!!!
Interesting as usual. At 4:49, they have painted the house.. 😁
The complete change of mood here 😂 5:40
I love the look of it
So you ran into my old coworker Mike, in San Pedro. Did he tell you he was a photographer? I can totally see him yelling jokes at you. When we were out shooting jobs, people would ask us to take their photo. He would always reply: " Sorry, I didn't bring my ugly filter." Good that you and some young folks are shooting film still. Personally, after all these years, I love digital. Having worked in color labs processing and color correcting a variety of films, the look of the film you tried is like nails on a blackboard - I spent too much time trying to correct issues with off brand film. As you said, the look is neat, but not on everything. Keep up experimenting! That's the fun part.
Willem, man, the Leica suits you well!!!! I think it’s time you swoop one for yourself!
You were in my neighborhood! Visit Rancho Palos Verdes next time! The Glass Chapel is beautiful and photogenic and Abalone Cove is beautiful during sunset :)
Wow, lovely. How could I have missed the release of it? Is it already in Europe as well?
2 Leica-featured vids in a row, prepare yourselves, Willem is about to get a Leica and eBay is gonna get crazy by the end of the year.
I’ve been on 2/4 of the ships of the same class as the one you got a photo of.

Since I am an adaptive photographer, I do photo rolls in my wheelchair. And yes, my Canon L1 goes along for the ride. And it's Canon (Leica Screw Mount) 50 mm/f2.8 lens.
do you always take more images from the exact same angel/of the same exact object?
By the way...since your Bessa is in the shop, are there any camera repair places in LA you'd recommend?
I live in this town and didn’t know you were here until the day after 😐
This video took me at least a half hour to watch, I kept stopping playback on each photograph just to look at this place and your beautiful compositions. This is my favorite style of photography right now. What do you call it? Street landscape? I love it. The color pallet of this film seems to really vibe with the very unique and warm light that we have anywhere in California near our coast. It also reminds me of very faded Kodachrome slides my Dad took, probably when he was around your age. But for me, this one is all about the photos that you’ve made in the end.✌️

It isn't 250D with the remjet removed, but it is 250D without remjet. They've gotten big enough to pay Kodak to deliver the film to them without applying the remjet at all. Hence the ambigous language on the website. Still 250D though :-) Which is good, cause it's a really nice film! Hopefully it will also result in better quality film with less scratches and such.

@@WillemVerb Really happy to hear that. I am still sort of upset this has halations. I think it's a misstep. Halations are a defect, and 400D is supposed to be a professional film. Its especially disappointing because CineStill says, "400D is specifically designed for still photography." Still photography film has antihalation layers built in that clear in bleach.
