The fibre connections are usually given to societies where they have enough customers. This breaks that barrier. It doesn't matter if there are other Airtel customers or not in my building, I can just buy this and start using it. Plus if I move around a lot, I could just carry the router with me without having to setup a new connection

When i was in saudi I used to carry the miniature version of this having 5G. which I find quite useful to connet multiple devices at the same time. and the speed was not limited to 100 there, thats a catch. I was getting 600+ speed with unlimited 5G. Its actually happening in India. I think this is a cool idea to implement here. I hope 5G will be available soon everywhere.

Those are available in India as well. They go by the name of dongle or hotspot. They used to be very popular at one point but they seem to have been rendered redundant with the abundance of cheap 4G/5G data plans which allow people to simply turn their phones into a hotspot and connect multiple devices to it. This AirFiber device is however meant to give WiFi coverage to an entire household with always on multiple devices connected.

Useful content. Living in Mumbai and no fiber connection is here thank you for covering all points is short time
Yes, This will be a boon to me and the people who live in my area. Since I live in a town that's across a river, The Airtel or Jio doesn't want to give me internet, whereas the people across the river have internet service by both. But using this to their advantages many small ISPs are giving fiber buy getting lines from a city that is 50Kms far. Since they buy multiple connections (From Airtel and Jio) . The problem with these services is they are not reliable like Airtel or Jio.

Bro... starlink type services are best for your situation because - reliability is good, esp. more in hilly areas. Starlink should launch in India. Reg. the setup you said - that's only option now - like those peoplelease and give. This 5g thing wont help you because RJIO has to first setup 5g towers - which they don't do. So, look for alternatives like starlink. Also, another option is - to get your town administration to do the line leasing / 5g tower and ensure quality (fixing in case line broken etc). Most time these are possible, but they don't want to do because they know there are no alternatives. So do push for them , write to PMO etc.
I live in Maharashtra in an area where although fiber connection is already there (thanks to BharatNet initiative of the govt) but only for public institutions like Gram Panchayat and so on. Another thing is our village has an Airtel tower with only 4G capability. For long, I tried to get the fiber connection but could not. This would be a good opportunity for telecom companies to extend the last mile connectivity because if they could equip their current network towers with 5G connectivity then they don't have to laid down the Optical Fiber cables underground and can still provide the fast internet connectivity in the rural areas at much cheaper cost. The two things they should always remember to make it successful is that the price of their Air Fiber plans should be same as that of the actual fiber plans and the data limit should also be the same as the fiber plan. Of course the speed of AirFiber will never be as good as the actual fiber cable speed but still in the same price customers in the dark patches of the fiber connection can avail good internet connectivity without having the presence of OFC network in their area.
I think adding a big antenna outside which connects to the satellite or other far off towers would be a great addition

I live in Mumbai and I recently purchased a WiFi 6 router TP-Link AX1500 for 3499 and got a new internet connection of “Mach1 internet” of a yearly plan of 200 MBPS Optic Fiber for 5650(including gst) so my total cost is 9149 which is substantially low than the proportionate 1 year cost of Airtel Air fiber. It feels more of like upgraded version of dongle & jiofi device that was initially there 2-3 years ago with new tech.
Airtel has got 1800/2100/2300 MHz frequency bands for their 5G network. Whereas, Jio is using Reliance Communication's 850 MHz frequency band which is far more efficient than the bands that Airtel has. So, you may (may not also if they too surprise you negatively by not providing coverage in your area) find it more useful to shift to Jio once they launch it commercially in a few more days.
Is there any additional antenna that must be installed with Airfiber. Or Can we take wherever we go and use like plug and play method. Please reply
My area has excellent 5G connection but no fiber connections are available at all. I think if it comes with lower mbps plan (lower cost), I will consider buying one 😅
The main problem with AirFiber is that it can never give you pings and latency close to a fiber connection. They'll fluctuate and will be a lil high compared to a wired connection (same goes for speeds) AirFiber is a wannabe Starlink and a fancy replacement of mobile hotspot at best. It can be good for rural areas where fiber availability is limited but right now even mobile data users are getting unlimited 5G so i don't see the point of it now. It might make a little sense when unlimited 5G mobile data is not available anymore.

i have been in a situation where i had to rely on a hotspot for all my needs at home. the problem is that i had to keep the hotspot on all the time and it fucked my phones battery cause 5g is a power hungry network and the hotspot usage on top of that generates heat. this device just adds a little convenience and always ready to connect network. definitely doesn't worth the price tho but i mean if someone is considering this they don't have any other choice.

It could have been great if it has an outdoor antenna. Cause in in low band 5g network the speeds don't cross 20-30mbps most of the time. And the high speed band can't reach the indoors in most of the places even in the cities. With an outdoor antenna it can give 100 mbps connection in most parts of the country. I think that's what jio is trying to do
I used to live in an area where Airtel Fibre was available, and boy I was happy with it 15MB was just that easy. Now, that I've moved from there to Mumbai there is my society which doesn't allow Fibre connection from mainstream companies such as Airtel and Jio instead I have to outsource them via my local provider which is really horrible. The speeds are bad, the fluctuations are too much and the ping is through the roof. I play Fortnite and I face so many issues that it's annoying. The answer is to incorporate an antenna port and on the device and then offer high quality (pole mounted) directional antennas which can then be fixed to a building at roof level. I’ve been searching for this, but haven’t found it in india yet.
The issue is that Airtel Fiber will work only if there is an Airtel 5G coverage in the area where AirFiber is installed Also a direct line of sight to Airtel 5G modem (usually installed on poles near roads/ towers) will greatly improve signal and minimise disturbance.

I think, air fibre is best for someone who works remote and want to settle in mountains/fibre_dark areas( with 5G connection obv.) . Sitting in the laps of mountains, enjoy coffee and scenes while working = peace
Meanwhile I get 300+ Mbps in Jio 5G at my home in my mobile. And why would I pay 799 rs per month with the Airtel Airfiber when Jio is giving me at 239 😂. Besides, rural areas will never get 5G maybe so, a useless device for 8k wasted

I thought we are finally going wireless for all our internet requirement. But guess, at least with airtel's air fibre that's not true. I hope Jio's offering would actually be a real alternative to fixed line connections. I get 100mbps on my fibre connections, but looking at the 5g speeds, if one can get such speed with fibre like offerings (speed, data limit), I'm sure people will love it. Please answer @Beebom :- If I get it at my 5G covered place and later if I take it with me to my 5G covered office or 5G covered friend’s place like 20-30 kms away. Will it still work ? Basically is it restricted to a geographical location ??
Should perform it's stress test. Connecting multiple device and run high data consuming processes.
I live in an area where there is no fibre connection but I have good reliable 5G connectivity of Airtel and I wish this device was available here.
I would happily buy one of these, if they make sure places where there's no 5G yet, the device can revert to 4G and give same unlimited data on 4G, it doesn't matter if it's 5G or 4G, right now 4G is getting better and better, 4G+ easily gives me 40-50 Mbps, more than enough!
I am using Net Plus Wifi for like 2 years now, with 799 pack 100mbps/ sec and i am not disappointed. The speed is really good and faster than my Airtel jio sim speeds. I am happy with it
Airtal has a good network coverage of 5g in Hyderabad also I'm shocked to hear that it's not there in Hyderabad.
This will be revolutionary
I think AirFibre can replace the fibre connection all together, making it the best use case of 5G network specially millimetre wave technology. Given that a very strong 5G network will be required.
I think it's a pretty great alternative. The only doubt that I have is will it be able to get consistent speeds like in fiber connections. Also, it would be great if they supported multiple plan options and wouldn't coerce customers into paying 6 months advance. Not especially if you're committing to a 6 month plan.
Basically it is a 5G Router . Although there is no competition of Wire connection Fibre.
Yes this will be very useful since my locality just had 1 broadband provider.
