I got the same 168 markers at the end from Temu for under $10. It was when they first started pushing sales. There was a massive discount. When my husband tried to find them to buy more for the grandkids, the prices were up. I guess I got lucky...🤷‍♀️

@@mythribg3349 I love them...I used them to make some canvases for one of my grand daughter's, who loves Paw Patrol. Only one tiny issue but minor. Sometimes when pulling the cap off, the whole end piece would pop off but an easy fix to put back together. It didn't hinder it's use or break it. These products aren't beholden to any countries' safety standards, as you, the buyer, are the importer of record, who'd normally be held liable for making sure the products met any level of safety. I think some people who are less well off you prefer to buy new, cheaper things rather then second hand or smaller amounts of quality items. Because they want to feel like they can afford new things and second hand makes them feel poorer. Whereas some people who are better off put value on being socially conscious with purchases and like to shop second hand either because it matters to them or becauses its trendy.

But, I do read the description thoroughly by scrolling down for extra information. Also, I don't usually go by all of the rave reviews unless they show me a detailed video backing up their claim. I've bought inkstones and calligraphy brushes, which are of good quality. Also, gold ink, and cinnabar powder. Some of the papers are a bit dodgy. The rice paper was fine. I found the mulberry paper was nice, also got a gold flecked paper. You have to be careful with some things, some are cheaper amongst the products listed and the quality is lower, accordingly. Also bought some embroidery kits to learn with, the thread is not great but it's fine to learn with. (I do cross stitch so I know how to determine a good quality thread!) Also have some storage shelves from them, which have been insanely useful. And because it's hard plastic it is easy to move around.

Most important thing, I'm glad you're okay :) As for Temu, the old Latin phrase maintains its power to this day; "Caveat Emptor" or "Let the Buyer Beware". As for those warnings about the cheap prices being due to worker abuse, while you're right, I hope you're not posting from an iPhone. Apple is notoriously horrific to its Chinese workforce, just Google "Apple worker conditions" to see the horror show for yourself. For at least a decade (if not longer), they've been constantly reported on for their abhorrent factory conditions. So expensive price tags don't negate the abusive dynamics of a company. Just sayin''

literally any computer chip will have poor conditions; from the materials mined to produce them, to the factories where they are assembled. As for temu, they do actively audit suppliers. Temu itself is a bit like ebay; Temu does not produce any goods, they simply offer a platform for manufacturers to sell on (like wish and aliexpress for example). If someone on ebay sells stolen goods, for example, I would not blame ebay, but the dodgy seller.

My mom got me those alcohol markers 2 years ago from Amazon and at the time they were like $40 but, I could never find them again on there 🤷🏽‍♀️. The red and pinks smelled terrible and and would make everything I drew smell just as bad, They did a really good job coloring . They’d be great for those wanting affordable alcohol markers. Unless if you have a sensitive nose.

Wait.... Houses can get struck by lightning and not set on fire? So glad you're safe but man that must SUUUUUUUUCK. I'm glad you did explain that some people can't afford to buy even cheap art supply and have to go through super shady, near slave like conditions for employee type places like Shien and Temu in order to survive. I hate that those sites exist, but I'm also sad some people can't even afford (or have) thrift stores near them. Although thrift store prices are starting to get to at or above retail for art supply

I am so glad she said the market was so good. I just literally bought 120 markers from Temu. For $33 and was wondering if it was going to be a waste of money since I know alcohol-based markers are so expensive. So I'm so glad I saw this video now I know I got my money worth and at a cheap price too!

Gosh, I'm glad you and your loved ones are safe after that scare! And I'm glad that nothing did catch fire, after seeing Rachel (from RachLovesLife) tell the story of how she lost a whole lot of stuff after a candle did catch fire over her holiday table it is a relief to know that it didn't happen to you too! I know how scary it can be because lightning struck a light/lamp post (? not sure of that, Eng. is not my first language) across the street. The sound was so scary! And the power went off for hours. It was in the middle of the night so most of the electronic stuff was off the only losses were the internet modem, cable tv thingy, and the HDMI port on the tv. We were without cable tv for a week and without internet for a month because the lightning burned the entire neighborhood modems. The guy that came to change the piece and test the connection said that they had to replace more than a 100 devices and they didn't even have that amount in stock to do it so suddenly. And they had to hire extra people to help in the process. At least we got a bill discount for the trouble.

Gal, my family had lightning hit the house twice and fried everything the first time. Now we unplug pretty much everything during bad thunderstorms. Thank you for trying out this stuff. I always wonder if their art supplies are worth the price, even as cheap as they are.

I'm glad I found this video! I've been wondering for a while now if the markers were similar to Ohuhu and I might just get the big set! It'll be a while before I can afford it, but I love the small set of Ohuhus that I have!

thank you for that intro ❤ i really appreciate how you mention that fast fashion is the only way some people can buy in fashion clothes. i rarely shop from sites like that, but i know what it feels like to be in high school and jealous of all of the popular girls for having the cutest clothes. there’s a lot of shame that you feel when you feel like you stick out because of your clothes.

@@annabellelee4535 I said more need to think about the effect of their shopping. I did not say the poor should go without. Im absolutely not financially privileged, yet I still do my best to think about the ripple effect of how I shop. I buy some things from temu but use discretion. The tarot cards on there for instance are counterfeit. That hurts the original creators of those cards who are usually not financially privileged themselves. If buying something like a scrub brush or something, yeah buy from temu or walmart or amazon if thats what you can afford. Its a grey area. Not black and white. Think about what you buy and where. No matter our financial status, if we all did our best there, the world would be a much better place, including economically for all. Didnt go into detail like this on the original comment because I was trying to not write a book. Sometimes I forget that there's a lot of black and white thinkers out there and think my concise message would be understood within the grey area.

The aquarelle and markers do indeed look nice, but I'm mainly concerned about the quality of the pigments used and therefore how light fast they will be. Name brands might come with a hefty price tag, but at least you know your art will last and you won't be left with an empty sheet of paper where you once spent hours painting on.

As far as alcohol markers go, they are pretty much never lightfast. Even Copics are not lightfast. They use dyes, not pigment inks. The really cheap watercolor are likely to use dyes as well, either exclusively or to enhance inexpensive pigments. The good news is: You won't be left with an empty sheet of paper anyway. Many times colors change, but they usually do not outright disappear. If you store your art well, without direct constant sunlight, it will last even with cheap supplies. If you want to hang it up, you could consider using UV resistant glass.

What brand did you buy? I bought the brand that was featured with similar results. I think if you search for example charcoal pencils you will be directed to all pencils and if you search cotton socks you will be directed to all socks. I wouldn't rely on the reviews because they may be paid reviewers.

SERIOUSLY 0:40 THANK YOU! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. For talking about this. There are people who cant afford the more expensive or local products. Me for example I WISH i could spend my money on locally products and pay they amount people deserve for their work, but in some cases i just cant afford it.
