I Synchronized a Race Track to Music - Trackmania PF #3

Ойын-сауық

This is no ordinary race track. It took me over 100 hours to create, matching various jumps and bounces of the car to the beat using trial and error.
Nadeo pushed multiple updates to the game while I was working on this. I was terrified one of them would change the physics and cause all my work to be lost. Thankfully the physics remained deterministic. Moral of the story, don't make pf tracks on a game that is still in development if you can avoid it.

    Same. It's probably because of the visibly hard hits/redirects the car takes against the surfaces, changing the velocity significantly, making it "visually punctuated" as I'd call it. And they are definitely well timed. Another analogy I'd use is that it's almost like the car is being "punched" by the track, in time with the beats

    @commandercritic9036Ай бұрын

    The fact that it doesn’t even look like your even controlling the car, but just letting it free fall through the track is perhaps the most insane thing about this, every bump, turn and jump is carefully timed and placed to be EXACTLY right so that the car doesn’t fall off the track, WITH the music then synced up to that. I don’t even want to know how many hours you put into this making it perfect, go take a breather man, you earned it.

    The only thing he does is pressing the gas. Thanks to Trackmania's deterministic physics, the same sequence of inputs will always result in the same behavior from the car. So by only pressing the gas pedal, the car always reacts the same way to collisions. Same speed, same direction, on every single attempt. Thanks to this, Doodle was able to create a track and focus on the synchro instead of focusing on getting lucky with the bumps. Hopefully it helps to better understand this masterpiece

    This is why I love KZread (and the internet in general). Someone’s experiences and development from the time of their birth has led them to feel the need to create an incredibly satisfying video of a car being tossed around a ridiculously impractical racetrack in a manner that synchronizes with the music being played over it. Instead of making this artwork just to satisfy themself, they can now share it with thousands of people who are not necessarily in the position to make similar art, but certainly in the position to appreciate it. And what a wonderful niche of the internet to occupy.

    It's probably not a tas. The track is built in such a way that pressing forward takes you all the way to the end. The only time he actually drives is after the song has ended.

    That was clearly the coolest PF map I've seen. Could have been fewer "boring" straight lines IMO, but I've never made such a map so I'm not one to judge. TLDR : great work.
