5:45 yes that’s the point! You’re supposed to enjoy the final performance of the Bellas more than the Treblemakers’, cause it was the first time the girls changed their act to something fun and they were actually happy performing!

If you end up watching the first two movies, you might notice that the Bellas take all the songs that were sung through out the movies and mix them together in the final performance.

Just to give some clarity, when an Acapella group is as large as the Treblemakers are, not everyone needs to be singing at the same time. Additionally, most larger acapella groups have one or two, maybe three, main/lead vocals with the others making up the voices that create the various instruments and the percussions and bass lines. Not all acapella songs require full blown singing harmonies with everyone involved and that’s actually one of the main differences from generic boy/girl groups where all the members have some line at some point in a song. Beatboxers/percussion and bass line singers rarely have solos but they are the literal backbone to the group

yes it's also good to point out that the fact that not all of them have mics is on purpose. The mics are only to make sure that the soloist is heard, as the rest of the group are singing out and should mainly be heard without the mics due to the acoustics and set up of the space

Two quick things: - Those enormous guys who sang Bootylicious are the actual Green Bay Packers! - The team with the letterman cardigans are all made up from comedy TV stars: Joe Lo Truglio from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Donald Faison from Scrubs, Jason Jones and John Hodgman from The Daily Show, and Reggie Watts from The Late Late Show.

Additional note about your first point as I'm not sure Matthew knows - the Green Bay Packers are an American football team. The team loved the first Pitch Perfect movie so much that they put in the time and effort to practice the music and were brought in for this special cameo in the second movie!

personally, the riff off in pitch perfect 3 with ruby rose singing zombies completely altered my brain chemistry (especially when Wake Me Up and Grenade was added)

The way you said "Bring it on Broadway boy" to Ben Platt felt so derogatory and I loved it

PLEASE watch the pitch perfect movies 😭😭😭 they’re so good and emotional and will fill you with nothing but fun and straight love for the characters

when you talked about them being expert at mixing the songs you literally nailed the point of the movie(s)!!! the story is mostly about how becca changed the accapela scene by mixing songs for the bellas and they're all very good!!! if you end up doing more pitch perfect videos i do recommend the campfire song and the bootcamp one from the second movie, they're very nice and the second is also fun to watch the video!

Also fun fact for the long riff off, the jelly song guys are the greenbay packers I believe! They like begged to be in the second movie and said they'd learn songs and dace for it

Just for the people who didn’t know who the Green bay Packers are (american football isn’t really a think outside of the US): „The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It is the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, dating back to 1919.“

We would love a part 3 all the songs are astounding

The just the way you are song gives chills because it's SUPPOSED to. In the film, at that point, their group completely fell apart. For lots of reasons but a huge part was creative difference- the blonde refused to let anyone have creative say. And so this was the moment when she let go, let Anna take over for a trial, and when she comes in with a new song, it's literally one of the moments the whole film has built to because it's the official moment that she gives in and realizes how powerful something different than her own way is. (Ie each of the bellas and their idnividual dreams are just as beautiful just the way they are)

The "original" song they sing in the movie is Flashlight by Jessie J, they actually do a couple of Jessie J songs like Price Tag. But in the context of the movie Emily (Hailey Steinfeld) writes this song and when she was put on the spot during the riff off her brain broke for a second and she just defaulted to the first song she could think of. And on another note, I agree, I would give anything for a Bellas/Anna Kendrick cover of Before He Cheats.

You might enjoy checking out some of the popular real-life acapella groups, like Pentatonix, Home Free, and VoicePlay. Pentatonix actually has a small cameo towards the end of Pitch Perfect 2 as the team from Canada.

Lol. The entire tone of the Pitch Perfect 2 riff off is a parody vibe. They're totally poking fun at the first movie and the individual characters while still being awesome. And the Green Bay Packers (famous american football players) ASKED to be in the movie because they liked the first one so much lol. So their role was comedic on purpose. And Bumper (Adam Devine's character) left the last movie to sing back up for John Mayer and skipped out on the final, so that was a deliberate call back haha. John Mayer is a famous singer-song writer, but arguably more famous for dating like EVERY young female celebrity around for quite awhile.

Ahhh I'm so happy that you chose to do the Riff Off in Pitch Perfect 2!!!! Genuinely was addicted to that part since I was a child. But I won't lie, I did cringe at the same parts you did as well. Really brings back memories!!!!! 😅

I think you'd love Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. A silly premise but a great show. Some fun (and sad) songs with silly choreography and great singing. Skylar plays a character in the show and we get some more of his lovely singing.

Freedom 90' is such an underrated cover of Anna Kendrick. Her high notes and riffs and runs man. I cant even.

Just so you’re aware, the first ‘Country Love’ song that was sung is called ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ by Tim McGraw

It feels so surreal hearing you critique the first song as if it was an original and not a cover of "Magic" by B.O.B.

The flashlight song always hit me because I remember seeing it in theaters and this whole series was an integral part of my childhood!!

The Green Bay Packers love the first movie so much that the producers offered them a small spot in the second one

You DEFINITELY have to react to the Das Sound Machine Car Show performance specifically - like all of them are good, cause they're meant to be the antagonists of the second movie but if you're looking for performances that give you goosebumps... the start of that performance for sure

If you like the "leader" of The Treblemakers you should listen to songs from Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist because he's in a lot of them as one of the main love interests

The team at around 8:00 is the Green Bay packers. They’re actually players from the real professional sports team. They just happen to know how to sing and for some reason were wanted in this movie😂

I agree the Bella’s Just The Way You Are x Just A Dream mashup gives me chills! It’s so beautiful in its simplicity and has always been my sleeper favorite. I could only dream of a longer version. Also yessss Donald’s bars during the Treblemakers finale are fire 🔥

Das Sound Machine are epic, the male lead, Flula Borg you will see popping up in some american shows as some rather eccentric German comedic character, but actually done quite nicely :P He plays "Skiptracer Randy" in the rookie for instance and whenever he pops up for an episode you know its getting weird in the best of ways XD

Finally! Someone reacted to the Just The Way You Are/Just A Dream mashup. I adore that and I have definitely listened to it over and over again. It's by far my favorite song from the pitch perfect movies.

So excited you did another Pitch Perfect video (and hoping for a third 👀), but...outside of these movies you should also check out songs from the TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Don't let the title put you off, it's an incredible show and while you should also just...watch the whole thing, I think just starting off with listening to some songs would be incredible. Just some absolute bangers. And some...that are also wild in and out of context, but still slap. There are a lot of great ones so I'll just list a few of my personal faves (warning some of these titles are...well you'll see): You Stupid B*tch, Getting Bi', Face Your Fears, Let's Have Intercourse, I Gave You A UTI, I'm A Good Person, A Boy Band Made Up of Four Joshes, (if you wanna see more of the lead guy from the Treblemakers Skylar Astin HE has a great song) I Hate Everything But You, and I'll end it with Women Gotta Stick Together. I could honestly go on and on and on...and that's certainly more than you'd do in a single video but y'know...could do many!

I really think our ears and musical taste sometimes has a preference! There are male singers I really love, but on a whole, I definitely have a preference towards female vocals. There's obviously exceptions, and a few ranges between, but all of my favorite vocalists are women. My sister is the opposite and really always prefers male vocalists. Weird how stuff like that happens! I love the Trebelmakers, but I'm with you - I just enjoy the Bellas more. Not because they are necessarily better, just my internal bias at work!

For me, it’s pretty balanced. Like, (and these are all theatre singers for the most part) I love Aaron Tveit and Jeremy Jordan, but I also love singers like Laura Osnes and Ciara Renee. Personally, if music has harmonies, I’m immediately hooked.

It's a German accent (and I'm not sure about the other people in that group, but at least for the lead guy that's his real accent. He's DJ Flula, started out as a youtuber. He's doing pretty well for himself, considering he's been in some pretty successful movies, he was also in The Suicide Squad) Also, checked and noticed you haven't done any Pentatonix reactions. Not sure if that's because you've already seen their stuff or not. Just mentioning because you said something about a capella and original songs, and Pentatonix have some really fantastic OGs, I especially recomment Love Again

I just finished watching the Pitch Perfect trilogy for the fifth time this morning, so this video came out at the perfect time. Loved it as always!

Now to watch the movie!!

The one song where the generations of Bellas come in at the end, makes me fucking cry every time. Just the beginning with the now, the Bellas the ones now active and at the forefront. Capturing the moment, the now, the present, the harmonies and then the past coming in with the generations of Bellas, harmonizing together like a big family, like history on your screen, lives, loss, community and unity. All singing the song of the new generation of Bella, and to make that the point closing the light on everyone but her, the youngest, newest, the future. God fucking dammit I'm crying again. I won't rant about why this gets me so hard as that would be too much. But holy fuck that song get me every damn time, like I will ugly cry to this song because they made it so perfect.

The head of music for the first film and two Bellas (in all the movies) are acapella veterans. The only people who need microphones on stage are anyone singing lead, percussion, and sometimes solo instruments or bass lines. The stage itself is mic'd.

Mat, I’d highly recommend watching Black Friday, or at least listening to some of the songs! It’s made by Team Starkid and set in the same place as The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals but in a different timeline. There’s also a third Hatchetfield musical that came out recently you can watch after!
