I studied anxiety for 12 hours to realize this 1 thing about fear and freedom.

In this video I will discuss two things.
On the one hand this video is more or less a summary of lacans tenth seminar on anxiety.
It will provide the main idea of his work in this book.
But I will also go beyond that, and explain how Lacans notion of anxiety does explain freedom. And what we mean by it.
Time stamps:
0:00 introduction
0:15 What is freedom in relation to power.
2:25 Explaining Lacan's notion of anxiety, freedom and desire.
Here is an overview over everything I will go through, and sum up the points.
Topics:
What is meant by freedom and why do we want it?
Quick recap of the oedipus complex.
What is lacans explanation of anxiety
How is anxiety formed within childhood and what can be done to prevent it.
How to come to analyse anxiety within ourselves and why we experience it.
Main ideas.
1. Freedom is the freedom of constraint to pursue our desire. It is to do what we want, when we want it and how we want it.
2. Power has a role in no matter what you do. So does control. When we say we want freedom, it's not say that we want to avoid control. In fact self control is also a form of control and a form of power. Every form of power includes objectification. Even self empowerment.
3. Freedom is the lacanian sense is to have power over our object cause of desire (the things that causes us to experience desire).
4. When somebody tries to take away or want our object cause of desire (lack) we respond in anxiety towards it.
5. The oedipus complex is the desire for the attention of the mother. But perceiving the father to be more desirable, it makes us envy the father to become like him.
6. The human mind is full of desires. But through the prohibition of certain desires, only a few get embraced and accepted. Those few is the object petit a.
7. Children who don't learn to pursue and develop a healthy form of desire struggle with anxiety. This anxiety is usually caused by the parent who uses the child to fill their own lack. One symptom of this early created anxiety may be for example due to seperation anxiety.
Some terms used in the video:
Big other: It's to whom we perform our desire and actions. You can think of it like a caregiver we used to perform to get the most attention from. But in adulthood we take over those behaviors that we're considered to be desired, and internalyze them.
Primary caregiver: The parent that takes the most care.
Phalus: In the oedipus complex, the phalus is the trait which the father makes seem more desirable than the child. The child tries to overtake those qualities.
Paternal function: The fourth element of the oedipus complex. Prohibiting the child from becoming the phalus.
castration: A prohibition of a desire. In this sense, to accept defeat not to become alike the father.
