    I think this really depends on the individual. I know Ms. Jackson doesn’t like hearing that but I did the things she’s doing now my entire life and it never seemed to pass a certain length. Now that Ive been pre-pooing and deep condition my hair weekly it has grown and it’s healthier than it’s been since I was a child. I never had dandruff so that was never an issue for me. However breakage was a problem for me since I have thin and fragile hair. Pre-pooing helps with detangling in my experience so I don’t put as much tension on my hair which leads to less breakage. Deep conditioning softens my hair and makes it look shinier and bouncier. But that’s just me. Different hair does require different things. This might be the best thing for her hair but doesn’t mean that it’s what works best for everyone, in my opinion.

    👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 you mentioned some good points, especially for people with hair not as full and lucious as others. This information can cause some people more unneeded harm than intended. My natural hair needs all the moisture it can get, in order to flourish. When people make such videos there should be disclaimers and consideration for people whose natural hair is not in perfect shape. People come on these pages for ways to improve their hair and instead, they get misleading information like this. Unless you have full and naturally gorgeous and fast growing natural hair, consider skipping videos like these and moisturize( oil, butter, deep condition etc) your hair for optimal growth and health. 😉

    @@reslastsong8292 I honestly don’t think it’s hate at all, but more of a genuine concern for people who don’t know any better. They might try this and end up damaging their hair. I’m pretty sure people follow natural hair pages to improve their hair health and not damage it.

    I totally agree about protective styles. Isn't the goal to enjoy and wear your beautiful, natural hair? Some people claim that they are protecting their hair, but the reality is that their hair is really used as a foundation for wigs, weaves, and braids. Protective hairstyles are literally addictive...you ALWAYS feel the need to have one, you don't feel attractive without added hair, and you may be willing to expend a crazy amount of money and time to maintain this "addiction" just so that you can feel good. I am not judging...I just know how I used to feel. Also...only wearing protective styles often results in never learning how to maintain and style your real hair..."braids are just easier". I never understood the point of protecting hair without the intention of wearing it out and/or wearing your hair out 20% of the time and in protective styles 80% of the time.

    Hey Jenn! I really like your channel! I am shocked to see that "No oils/no butter" is a thing now. Here is my story....I was experiencing EXTREME scalp itching and pain for about 3 years and following many KZreadrs who suggested oils (I did not use any butters), I piled on the oils and made a bad situation even worse. My dermatologist prescribed a shampoo to help elevate the intense itching and horrible scalp pain. The Rx shampoo gave me only mild relief even though I used it for over two years. As time went on, I started focusing on physical therapy for chronic back pain and forgot all about using oils on my hair. It was only about a month ago that it occurred to me that the scalp pain and itching was GONE! I immediately realized that it was because I had stopped using all of those oils. So, by default, I learned that oils ( especially when I was doing a concoction of several "natural oils"), was what was causing me problems. Thanks for sharing your insights on natural hair care.🧡🙂

It's easier to gage when it's time for a protein treatment! I can see coils in my "4c" texture. Products be producting, water be watering, shampoo actually has slip instead of feeling stripping. I've been using Pantene's repair line of shampoo and conditioner and I use Lotta body foam to style. . . No leave ins, no nothing! Been saving my oils and butters for my skin and it's smooth and glowing😁💪🏾❤

    I'm always pleased with your honesty. I love that you say using (or not using) oils and butters is not the crucial factor of what is (or is not) growing your hair. I kind of used this method for a few weeks, or at least called myself doing it. When in reality I was just neglecting my hair and still not giving it the moisture it needed from water. So whatever your preferred method like you said it comes down to good habits outshining the bad ones. I am going to look back at your other videos and other content about the no oils and butters method. I have always been a minimalist when it comes to how many products I use on my hair, both for financial and just ease reasons.

    I have noticed when I once pre shampooed every week using oil I lost so many hair and even oiling my hair again during mid week made me loss more hair like in really noticeable way, by end of the week my hair gets extremely itchy and so much dandruff as well I’m losing so much hair, I believe my main problem is the oil, I’ll just stop using it. I only use it once a week and that’s it, but it could be my main hair problem without me realizing it, maybe even little of it stills create problem. The straight hair community always talks about the danger of leaving oil on the hair for so long and that it should be washed as it’ll make the hair full out, it should be kept for few hours only but never to seat on the hair

    I stopped putting Oils and butters directly on my scalp/hair and noticed the same things mentioned in this video. I would not recommend using O & B in their pure forms directly on hair. In product formulations yes that's how i maximize their benefits.I don't want people thinking O&B are bad the side effects of overuse is the concern here. We need more data to properly access the pros and cons of no O&B for a prolonged period. Cleanse your scalp properly as whatever you use or don't use is irrelevant if your scalp is in poor condition. I have a sensitive scalp nothing touches my scalp aside clarifying and anti inflammatory shampoos

    I think everyone is saying the same thing but differently. Water is a moisture and any product of preference (grease, oil, cream, butter style cream etc..) is a sealant of the water/moisture of some sort. Preferences of sealant, how much you use, when you use it etc… will vary. This variation of moisture sealant preference will vary person to person based off their personal ideas of how they want their hair to be.

    That’s actually not consistent with the teachings of See Some Curls tho. They teach that moisture can’t be sealed, and the styling products that we use should be water soluble (to help avoid product build up) and make sense for the desired style (gel for defined wash n go’s and foam for twist/braid outs). And the only way to get moisture to your hair is thru shampooing and conditioning your hair

    I can understand this. When I got sisterlocs, I was adviced to stop putting oils & butters on my hair. I was REALLY sceptical about that, but I did learn that my hair needed less oil than I thought. My hair is down my back now, super healthy, strong, & my scalp is very healthy. No flakes anymore at all. A lot of the change came from changing my eating habits as well. But I do use my homemade aryuvedic oil treatment on my scalp maybe once a week. I live in a SUPER dry dessert climate. But I want to learn more about your method. Great video 🙂👍🏾

  • @JennJackson

    @JennJackson

    I was told to wash more often and really one should listen to their hair and scalp. Once it is dry, wash and condition again. I personally didn’t wash more often because I am busy and don’t have time to wash mid week so I just keep a weekly schedule. As for the products, yes they matter, particularly when it comes to stylers. Botanical gels with humectants are KEY to keeping your hair moisturized for as long as possible.
