@@emilyfrazier8392 I stayed at the shard once. The bed was dirty, shower didn't work, I could hear the heating and the staff spoke to me like I was bellow them. The food was good but not worth the money and I was overcharged. It took three months to get a refund for overcharging me 597 quid. I then received an email saying I owe them for the mini bar. I never touched the mini bar. I argued with them and they apologised before saying we're not going ask you to pay for that. As beautiful as the views were, it ruined my experience. I saved up six months for that night.

Looks like a typical deprived seaside Victorian room! $35 in torbay, and you get a sea view! 🎉

Thing is though, regular customers/the rich won't blink twice, so you have to look at it from the point of someone who can just throw money around, they don't care about whipping out a measly £50 after paying £1k plus a night

Shampooing is French for shampoo. The glass hats are also coasters. The “instruments” in the drawer are shoe trees. Hope you had plenty of cash for the staff tips 😄

Whilst you may not be their target market you've raised some interesting points they should really take note of

Modernisation isn’t needed, you can make the antique look work well, especially in this price bracket, even Vegas hotels can do it…. So why not the most prestigious, overpriced and reputationally old money hotel in the world? This just looks cheap…

I am sure I watched a vlog from Walk with me Tim when he stayed at The Ritz recently & he couldn’t get hot water either. I think the rooms look a bit old & tired tbh & relying too much on the name rather than present luxury. I would be so disappointed if I spent that amount of money . Thank you for showing this cos reinforces idea not to splash the cash & waste money staying there for a special occasion

I've had afternoon tea at The Ritz. I had to borrow a suit jacket for the occasion. They'll bring you as much tea as you can handle. I drank three pots of Darjeeling and felt rather unwell afterwards. There was a harpist who played Stairway To Heaven.

The items you couldn't work out what they are - they're shoe-stretchers. Used for leather shoes, and for keeping your shoes in shape when they aren't being worn to avoid creases forming in the leather and to ventilate them.

When I was a teenager I was a late shift room maid at Marriott. We did turn down service, basically pulling bed covers back, refreshing towels and leaving a chocolate on the pillow

Fun fact, over 45% of uk jewellery and top notch sliver wear is made in the famous jewellery quarter in Birmingham , it’s where most of royal families crowns, jewellery etc are made… 😏 👑 💍 Btw those prices for what is a tired and average looking hotel is outrageous, try the Grand Hotel in Birmingham for a proper five star experience for less than half that price (the king, Tom cruise, Johnny Depp, Beyoncé etc have all stayed there 🤫)

Its literally an premier inn, except premier inn's rooms are bigger and less expensive.....a LOT less expensive.
