I stayed in Truth or Consequences | New Mexico's Best Kept Secret

I only planned on visiting for 24 hours. ...I stayed 72.
Truth or Consequences is New Mexico's little hot spring haven. Everything about this place was magical, from the healing hot springs, to the wonderful people, this place will steal your heart.
🚨 ***UPDATE!!!! My mannequin sold at the auction for $220! David, the owner of Junkology scooped her up and you can see her for yourself in his shop. ☺️☺️

I grew up there! Riverbend Hot springs is a gem! The town kinda died off after the lake was drained in 2000. But there is a good vibe still around. We go back once or twice a year to hit up Riverbend. Also the hike up Turtle back mountain is amazing. If you go back go tubing down the river! It’s so chill! Great video! Cheers!

As someone who used to live in T or C back in the late 80's it's cool to see how much it's changed, but soul crushing to see how little water is in the Butte (used to have 3 to 4 times that amount of water in it). Might have to go back one of these days just to revisit it.

Story time.. I lived in New Mexico, up in Socorro County, for about ten years. I used to make the hour drive down to T or C for the hot springs. (Riverbend.. best choice) I sold my property there and rambled around for a few years, before heading back to New Mexico to spend the holidays with family. Ended up staying and working as a ski lift operator at Sandia. My dad had heart surgery, and I left for Nevada to care for my parents while he recovered. Did a bunch of concrete and heavy equipment work while I was there, and made over $25,000, and got a vintage travel trailer in trade for a concrete driveway for my cousin (because I wouldn’t charge labor to family, but when he insisted that I take the 1962 Serro Scotty Sportsman.. how could I say No? Long story short.. Dad was healed, and it was time to push on. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner together, and I told the folks that I would be leaving the next morning. My basic plan was to head to T or C, soak in the springs, and focus on writing a novel. (NOT the one you are currently reading!) I would buy a small parcel, park my trailer, soak daily, and try not to get a job.. just pay myself to write. I never made it.. My first stop was Alkali Hot Spring, near Goldfield. I had planned to soak and stay the night there, but the windy, cold weather made me rethink the camping part, (still had a great soak, and all to myself!) and I decided to head to my next stop, further south, and lower in elevation. I arrived at Bailey’s Hot Springs, just outside of Death Valley, and just north of the small town of Beatty, to find it closed, and appearing destroyed and abandoned. I met the owners that day, (an absolute omen of fate, as they live in Las Vegas, and visited very infrequently.)Their latest caretaker hadn’t worked out, so i was in. I never left. I’m still here almost six years later. It is providing material that threatens to eclipse the fictionalized autobiographical true crime tragicomedy of my first novel, and I have soaked twice a day, everyday.. and it is the best hot spring water of the many I have soaked. Still closed for business, but I have kept myself busy with gardens and animals, repairs and improvements, and the adventure and intrigue that each new place holds.. If you are ever in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by. The water is miraculous, and friends and family are always welcome. p.s.: I’ve arted, too!

Pretty bad fishing most of the year but if you catch it at the right time you can get some nice striper and white bass. There is a burger spot in elephant butte called Bigfoot restaurant and I forgot what the burger was called but they had probably the best burger I’ve ever had in my life and it wasn’t very expensive either

In 1950, the TV Game show "Truth or Consequences" (Hosted by Ralph Edwards) offered to come and broadcast from any town in America that would change it's name. Hot Springs NM took the bait, and Ralph Edwards fell in love with the town, bringing the show and tons of Hollywood celebrities to town every year for decades. The name stuck.

LOL. I thought I was the only one who knew about T or C. I tried to get a surgery position at the hospital, but because KY had suspended my license back in 1994 for a nurse's medication error, no dice. The orthopedist there wouldn't work, so they contacted Jackson and Coker to recruit me. Mentioned T&C in my memoirs, "My Medical-Legal Back Pages." Archway publisher. Based entirely on true events in KY, then NC with my last stand in MS. Also been to Hot Springs AR, and here I grew up in Buffalo! The world can't get any weirder.

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

I was on my way to quartzsite, once I got to t or c, there was no reason to go further. I went right to snake island and camped on the point. In the morning the water was up to my tires. I moved up a little but ended up in the campgrounds and dispersed camping. I lived in an RV park for 1 month. That whole state has the nicest people ever. Good video.
