I turned in that Swift lease truck and got myself a truck from Lone Mountain and signed on to small carrier for an 80/20 split driver negotiates and books all loads and just submit rate cons, fuel receipts, and BOL in for pay the next day. Never run the spot market before but I’m making more money than I ever did at Swift and each week that passes I get a little better at booking my loads.

People are going out of business because they don't have big monetized KZread channels and are socialmedia famous...They don't know the right people, (brokers) who are ethical...They are only stuck with big brokerages who don't negotiate and apps that bs with rates and lying about how much they can pay...And lastly, most shippers don't want to deal with a carrier with one truck and trailer and would rather deal with a fleet...And a lot of brokers don't want to negotiate...I've kept my W9 in the good lanes, no truck and trailer payments, and still have considered calling it quits after 22 years and last 10 as an owner operator with 8 month old authority...My break even is $1.88 based on my own expenses and hardly get anything at $2.00...So this whole industry has turned into a charade and rat race and won't miss it if I decide to throw in the towel...

Lmao I feel your rant bro. But let me add, the brokers I deal with know nothing of my KZread channel. I’m just another carrier. Also, I do make some money from KZread but, the examples I give in this video are booking one truck on what I’ve been averaging per week running. $15-20k per that truck monthly. Notice how my KZread money isn’t factored into that equation 👌😎

They dont realise communication will save their life and others. The cb has saved me twice. If you have the cb antennas only inches from your cab your not getting the amount of reception and transmission capacity you need. I found my self in fog with freezing conditions. I tried to tell the schneider and others that they were coming into a crash and traffic was fully stopped. I heard later that there were fatalities. If they had a cb radio they would be alive and saved others. Buy a great stock radio that offers the bells and whistles. I like the galaxy 959. It has features to keep you aware. Get two antennas. Mount them on the upper Outside western mirror mount. Newer trucks make a sturdy mount for each siide. Live longer.

QUESTION ; How many of you have called at least 4-5 Businesses a day trying to add direct customers?? I find very few "O/O" that actually run a trucking business like a real business and that's probably the #1 failure causation the last few years. START CALLING DAILY and get direct customers, you'll be just fine after gaining 20-50% higher rates by cutting Brokers out 💪♥️

I dont use a cb anymore because im a company driver and been in 15 different trucks in 3 years. Would get a loaner truck without a cb and would just wait it out until my truck was out of the shop. I just get lazy and tired of hooking it up and moving antennas. Then let the truck be a different model now you got to buy $64 antenna brackets. Ive got 6 cb radios and a bunch of antennas at the house though chilling in the garage. For the guy why owns his truck or is OTR in the same truck for 5 years yea you should have a cb

Yeah some of the folks these guys lease to are straight crooks. Problem is that most of these guys don’t know the difference. If someone is taking 25% off the top plus plates, insurance, escrow accounts, IFTA and on and on it’s no surprise so many go bankrupt. The only ones making money are the ones they’re leased on with. Too many folks I think just don’t do the math or just don’t know what things cost that they’re paying these crooks for.

I used to work I.T in the oil fields those Foreman and PM were making money so they were buying 90k trucks and expensive houses that was a bit more than they needed. The oil tanked people got layed off then they tried selling those over priced trucks. So I think the same is happening in trucking instead of saving majority then spending they spend as it comes in

    1. Over-leveraged. Into the business tipped from jump. Funded with debt rather than profit. 2. Starry eyed. Trying to keep up with the Jones. Bad advice, talked into more debt. 3. Low bid was at one time just common sense. But now seems like a broadening campaign for a cheapy weepy rate market across the board. 4. Lopsided freight to driver ratio, and bidded freight going on the load boards rather than awarded to lowest biddder. 5. Too many greedy hands in the pot. Any entity even remotely affiliated with trucking have raised the cost of operating to difficult and unattainable levels. 6. Milk toast oversight, regulatory and Law enforcement. Blind eye, look the other way. "not my job."

@smokeclouds8 trucking is top five in risk. so its up to you if you want to risk your life like that. if you have a chance, find a trucker to ride along for a week, and see the driving from inside the truck.

@@MakeCentsTrucking I had a terrible week on during 4th of July. $5300. After truck/trailer payment I spent so much on fuel I brought home $300. Following week after I saw this video and decided to slow down, I made $4800 ( another bad week) to the truck , but I brought home $850. I cruise at 62mph as long as my hours let me. So thanks for the example.
