I hope I bump into u one day have u seen montin pods u got to be on a harness.
I stayed in a place like this in Heathrow. My layover was 15 hours (Yes, i know but I saved a ton on airfare from Asia)and it did the job versus snoozing on a bench. I still find it hilarious that i could literally roll off the bed into the shower.
£85 is not what i'd call cheap tbh just for a few hours

Pretty sure tim something on the lines of relatively cheap? Compared to other accommodation around the airport itn will be
@JD-wn3cc

Yeah, I'm not overly loving that price either. But that's the micro economy of airports. Sure, yotel have set themselves out as the most budget option available, but it only means they'll be a little cheaper than the next option up, rather than truly budget friendly. Tim's also probably got a decent deal on it and booked at the right time, so it's even worse

There is a difference between value and worth, if you are super tired and need to sleep before a long flight it’s worth it, and £85 for airport is not overly expensive especially when it’s right in the terminal. I’ve paid more for a premier inn that was a 5 min taxi ride away from the airport.
@handsoffmycactus2958

I’m guessing it’s owned by the same company as Yo Sushi? The logo looks similar and the name obviously
The spooky sound in the cabin... tension, claustrophobia... like a scene from Alien.
This is such a good idea for an airport, sometimes you just need a nap and it’s great that you can book in whenever
I like the idea/ingenious use of space. It's good for a short stopover, but £85 feels kind of steep for what you get!

One thing to note is that you're paying for the convenience of staying in an airport, it wouldn't be my first choice, but I would stay there in desperation.

@@hierophantics4876 I would stay there too in a pinch. Super convenient if you e.g. have a long stopover or anything like that. My husband and I could have used something like that at Heathrow. We had to drive around 3-4 hours home after a long haul flight, and we would have happily paid for a few hours of kip at the airport before the drive, but there was nowhere suitable within the airport, so we ended up going to a relative's place elsewhere in London for a pit stop before making the long drive. So I was very much for the concept of the Yotel until the price came up! I know the cost of living is up these days, but £85 really does seem like a lot, especially given that a quick Google brings up cheaper rates for both Travelodge and Premier Inn near Gatwick. I was honestly expecting more around the £40-50 mark for a capsule room.

It's like they're trying to ease you into the idea of being on the airplane before you're actually on the airplane.
Reminds me of the room that Corben Dallas lived in the film The Fifth Element! Multipass! 😃

The rooms are well sound proofed plus no one was down there with me
The rooms are called cabins and they remind me of a ferry cabin - somewhere safe and comfortable with private facilities, which is important for some people. You could sleep on a bench in the corridor I'd find a chair in the lounge but for a modest fee you can get something better. Also remind me of a Japanese Love Hotel! Hope they change the sheets after each guest... 😅

You need to add a cabin on some ferries when booking. Much prefer a cabin than being out in a lounge especially with children and on long journeys.

The Gatwick travelodge is very often less money, in fact can be as little as half. We’ve stayed there several times and it’s always been £40-50 per person.
Very interesting place & super-convenient & great you can get tea & coffee/snacks etc but £85.00 for that tiny little thing is far too steep, I was expecting £50 maximum. If it was cheaper then I would say its a good option if you need it before a flight or between. Good review👏🏼
Nice One Tim 👍.Hope You Washed Your Hands After The Sticky Bits🤣🤣.

Made me claustrophobic just watching, don’t think I could stay there.
What a great little room and tour. Really all one needs before a flight when traveling alone.
I’ve stayed in one a few years back…relatively cheap and comfortable. Easy to get to the part of the airport I wanted, too.
This is actually cute, if you're not claustrophobic! Sofia Nygaard stayed in one in Japan that was just the bed part. It was literally like a capsule.
Hi Tim seems like a good idea. Had no idea they had these . Thanks for sharing with us. Love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
I always stay there; probably had that room on one of my 50+ stays. No hassle with trains or taxis rides in the morning of flight. There is a M&S opposite to buy nice food.

Hiya Tim, great vlog and enjoy room tour, good Idea for a couple hours sleep and shower , especially for someone who travels a lot and want to be in the airport terminal ready for there flights,
I've seen the very popular capsule hotels in Japan. They seem even smaller. Maybe because Japanese people are generally smaller, and maybe because the Japanese people are used to everything being smaller, cars, seats, etc. The one I saw at the Tokyo airport did have tea and coffee in room. A very compact service, with some rice cakes.
Thanks Tim I think I would just get in there thanks for the view look forward to the next Yvonne 😊
I've stayed in a YOTELAir in Amsterdam and it's great for a few hours of rest on a layover with their bonus being it's airside so no hassles to clear security after. It's not somewhere to spend a long time but they've made great use of the space.
Stayed in the one at Schiphol a few years ago. So convenient and found it quite cozy too !
That noise would make me run for the hills 😂😂 thank you for these though! They’re so cool to see
Evening Tim thank you for the vlog on the Yotelair. I didn't now about them till I saw your vlog. Really enjoyed your presentation. Thought it was a bit pricey!
As someone who spent their childhood dreaming on living in a spaceship I’d totally stay there, lol. £85 is a bit steep but you’re also paying for the more unique experience, rather than a bog standard hotel room.
Just watched this I must have missed it before, nice seeing different places you stay in, not cheap but looked ok gor a night 😊x

Presumably with how the rooms are positioned, it's like a bunk bed so someone else is sleeping above you and they can get more rooms in that way. From what I saw, not cheap, but designed for just one night essentially.
I would like to try it out !! Looks very nice !! Just enough room for one !!
I think that sticky feeling can maybe come from sanitizing this surfaces over and over. But they could clean and maintain the rooms a bit better. The idea of this little room is nice. Especially because you have you have your own toilet. That is why i won't stay in a capsule hotel. So that is definetly an alternative. I think the price is high if you consider that the travelodges around the airport are often very cheap. But you have to stay for a typical night. For your time that would fit, but if you arrive in the morning and just want a few hours sleep until you leave in the evening, a typical hotel with check in time at 3 PM does not fit.
@jenniriley482

Sometimes it's the cleaning stuff they use that make it sticky. I had it in a cafe. The lady had just wiped a table down so we could sit at it. I said the table is still sticky. She said it's the cleaning fluid we use. !!! I politely suggested they get a different one as customers don't want to be sticking to the table. And left. It was unpleasant. Xx
The lift in the Yotel is Glasgow is a full on rave with heavy base flashing lights ect...wakes you up after a heavy night that's for sure

Looked really good Tim. I would stay there looked extremely cosy but probably wouldnt stay there more than a night because i would get claustrophobic. Hygiene looked ok but not great and the price i would say its not cheap but not expensive i would happily pay that for a hotel in the airport. Thanks for sharing Tim 👍
Great for getting a bit of rest and to freshen up between flights but a bit too claustrophobic for me, and pricey at £85! But it is in the airport so you're paying for convenience. Cheers Tim!

Hey welcome Amanda
This is the exact Yotel I stayed in last year. The room is so small, I think two people staying there would be literally a squeeze. I didn't have an issue with the temperature of the shower as it got warm/hot quite quickly. The one thing you didn't point out is that there is a sort of "drainage system" that allows the water to go down. But saying that, the bathroom is extremely narrow. However, I like the concept of the sink, toilet, and shower being in "one line." I like cabin style bed with the attached TV. But the whole space is small, very box room size. The price I paid, considering it was October 2022, was £165.00😮. You got a bargain at £85.00, Tim. Would I stay there again? Only if I got it at the price you paid, but I understand that people think it's steep because Yotel is really only for that few hours stopover to sleep before a flight. For me, it's not really the place to spend more than one night, unlike a Hilton, Travelodge, Premier Inn, Holiday Inn. Unless it was on a cruise.
Makes a Pontins chalet look like Downton Abbey 😮
Never heard of a Yotel. Don’t think we have them here in Australia. I love it! I’d stay in one travelling on my own 👍🇦🇺
I actually like it! it's got everything you need, minus kettle but I prefer that cos at least you know nobody's used the kettle to boil their underwear in (I used to be a housekeeper, so I'm now overly cautious 😆). but I like it. it's cosy. but if you were sick, it'd be both gross and convenient to be so close to the toilet 😆
Would have liked to the see the fire exits. I like a window that I can jump out of in an emergency, lol.

Hello Tim,at first it looked very small but the bed seems quite big for size,if I was travelling I probably would use this cabin to get a few hours sleep.price is good.
I mean pretty perfect for a layover or something, i like it.
Given the location and the noise around there (aircraft) i guess the soundproofing and price are quite logical. Ideal for people transferring from plane to plane.
I think the convenience of having somewhere for a few hours sleep is the only thing it has going for me!

You can stay at Victoria Station until the late Gatwick coach around 4am or go to a club in Londpn until the early hours.
Blast off! Really, with the heavy door and the window it reminded me of a decontamination room. "Hey Tim! You came back to Earth with Denebian Fever, have to stay in one of these for 48 hours. Sorry." But really, I think I'd give it a go, especially if my flight was delayed, and I had hours to kill. Better than sleeping on a row of benches in one of the terminals. Another great vid! Thanks

Last Friday, we stopped at Yotel in Istanbul Airport landside, due to us missing our flight, we paid 248 euros for the room and didn't have tea or coffee making facilities but did have water, beds were super comfy and the room was clean and modern and very large, I thought it was quite expensive to be honest, but it seems pretty standard across the board for these hotels, the check out time was 11am, we asked for an extra hour and they wanted 15 euros per hour, so we checked out at 11am LOL - I would stop in another one again but don't know if I would like a room as small as yours though.
I enjoy the variety of hotels you review. It sounds like you can check in at any time day or night and get the full six hours you pay for. That could be an advantage over traditional hotels with set check in/check out times.
Looks almost like a cabin on a sleeper train just with a few more features
Definitely a good idea if u want to stay over for your flight cos literally all u need is a bed but should be cheaper if your just having a few hours if that was a full night the price would be fine

Had a quick look on their website, and saw they had hotels in Central London. Was surprised that they didn't have these capsule rooms though - their cheapest room was over £250 a night!
hello Tim hope things are well
If you get to New york, try the Jane. It just got sold so not sure what will happen but it's an old sailor hotel. Imagine this room with no bathroom (it's nearby down the hall). They were wearing traditional bellhop uniforms too!
It is good there is a window shade for the door. Otherwise if you were taking a shower a person from the corridor could look in and see you!
It was a very good travel blog today of you chilling out and staying in yotel capsule hotel in Gatwick Airport tim you can visit sweden to stay in tree hotel in Harads
That bathroom reminds me of our first visit to Paris in 1982. Very compact, but all you really need in an ensuite. £85 is a total ripoff though!
looks like the higher beds are then situated over the lower beds in the next room, to maximise use of space
I would stay there for a sleep between long flights, £85 isn’t bad at all, amazing location right in the terminal. Shower too! Yeah it isn’t somewhere you’d stay for a holiday but it’s functional….reminds me of the premier inn hub hotels! It’s not worse than cabin crew beds 😂
It’s an extractor fan in the shower that comes on when you close the door to the bathroom
For an overnight stay/flight connection these are ideal! Better to be cold than hot!
