✨As someone who works at Premier Inn I wanted to give my professional opinion First, yes there should have been two bottles of water in that fridge… I don’t know why it wasn’t there and I’m so sorry for that On overall that room doesn’t reflect actual standard as this room is done wrong in so many ways, including the bed which is horrible and not up to brand standards Also the kettle in that room is wrong and there is another kettle used in that room that is bigger and better Plus, there are smaller pillows in that bag with extra pillows About chocolates - you can always go back to reception or catch a housekeeper and ask fo more chocolates and tees (even if you are not staying in plus room 😜) In general, you had every right to ask for your money back as I look at that room, the bed shocked me tbh. And as you come in the bedside lamps should have been turned on the pillows that should have been a lot more neat with light in the room turned off You were also given a wrong key card, there’s another one for plus rooms that is themed for those rooms And not all premier inns have the sign about illegal substances, it might be a thing in London, doesn’t say anything about the whole brand

I've had to claim twice due to wedding parties running noisily up and down the corridor in early hours of the morning. Usually I find the Premier Inn beds excellent and really comfortable. And the housekeeping is always very good.

We use Premier Inn so 're time when visiting family around the country. We had to book a premier plus room just before Christmas because it was all that was available. It was nice, but TBH, I wouldn't book again if a standard room was available - we only want somewhere clean to sleep and have breakfast before leaving for the day - so, for me, the extra money isn't worth it.

I really do like a Premier Plus room, as I can pop down the shop and put my pepsi in the fridge to keep cool. After a night out a cold glass of water is so much nicer than the usual warm tap water too! They tend to put the Plus rooms on the higher up floors too for those of us who prefer a view, take away the £5/night for good wifi and it's definitely worth the money.

Had a premier plus room in Bournemouth (if you're ever staying try to get one of the sea view rooms, one of the best room views in Bournemouth) Main plus of the premier plus room was the fridge, there is complimentary water in it, and if you run out you just ask for more at reception. Basically unlimited. And was great to go to Tesco and get some cold drinks that I could then keep cold. WiFi was also useful

Fridges are quite useful for keeping costs down. If staying for a while you can pick up snacks that will keep for lunch or dinner meaning apart from breakfast you only have one paid meal out to pay for per day.

I had two free bottles of water when I stayed in a Premier Plus room, and quite enjoyed it. I'll certainly stay in one again when I've got more time to kill at the hotel as they're more comfortable to work in and more relaxing generally... The fridge was a nice touch to chill a drink overnight and take out in the morning... Also if you take drinks up from the bar (as I do if I'm working in the room for a while) it's handy to keep them cool.

Staying at Premier Inns for work, I take advantage of the Premier Plus rooms when I can. In some of their hotels, the Premier Plus floor is also the quiet floor. As someone who has worked hard during the day, and absolutely knackered by the end of it, those little extras make a difference. Even the stool as somewhere to unpack your overnight bags. But then, my hotel expenses are paid for me. I always love the Nespresso machine.

Premier Inn used to be my go-to chain, but they've changed to a "dynamic pricing" model, and they're now very poor value for money. September 2021, me and some friends stayed at a Premier Inn at Cardiff, and my room was £59 a night, including breakfast, which I think is pretty good value. In October 2022, we went back to the same hotel, as it was well located for us, and the price had shot up to £93 a night. The original plan had been to stay in another Premier Inn in the Cotswolds on our journey home, but their branch at Chipping Norton cost a truly shocking £160 for a standard room!! We ended up getting a far, far nicer Mercure hotel which cost just £7 more than what I'd paid for a night in Cardiff! Until such time as Premier Inn lower their prices, I will be in no hurry to return. It's a shame really.

I think this has always been the case - I needed to stay in Dover in August 2015 and it was about £80 per night (much more than when I'd stayed there a few months before). Hotels in general, like everything, have also shot up a lot in price recently. I think Premier Inn is still better value than say a Travelodge, but it's definitely worth shopping around for other options.

We never thought to check and the reason you want a mini fridge, it is nice to have a cold drink during the night or if you bought some food during the day that's need to be in a fridge or in my case insulin that needs to be in a fridge so these Premier Inn PLUS Room would be my pick just because of the fridge.

Yes, definitely a perk here in the UK. One tip if you need a fridge and the room doesn't have one is to ask at reception. Most hotels will have a fridge and sometimes a freezer that guests can use - they just ask you to have things labelled. It's obviously less convenient, because you have to ask at reception every time, but still useful to have.

You always know what you’re getting with a premier inn. With the exception of the odd, easily rectified problem, I’ve never had any issues - the beds as you say are very comfortable, the rooms are usually very clean and the staff are usually very good. I would personally choose premier inn over Travelodge as they can be a bit hit and miss although they shouldn’t be completely ruled out as I’ve stayed in plenty of good Travelodge hotels. I’ve had it before when I’ve stayed somewhere awful which completely ruined the holiday so having the guarantee that premier inn can give of being generally very good, is very much worth it even if you pay a bit more.

The reason I like Premier Inn when cycling is that they usually allow you to take the bike to your room. I'm pretty sure it's not policy, but if you ask where the cycle parking is, nine times out of ten they'll say 'just take it to the room'

I think these rooms could be good for business travellers. The only thing that I haven't seen in standard Premier Inn rooms that I'd probably use is the fridge. Fridges are really useful, especially in the summer - you can use it to chill drinks or store food safely, especially if you're trying to save money on meals out. I also have meditation that is better chilled and usually resort to making a DIY fridge when I stay in hotels. I actually think all rooms should have one in!

@@Blue.sk13s I only need to keep eye drops cool, so I put them in a cup/glass/mug (whatever's provided in the room) and fill the container with cold water. Then I take a couple of squares of toilet roll, fold them and put on top of the container so that both ends are in the water and the middle is exposed. It's similar to how you keep milk cold when camping, except with a bucket and tea towel. I can't remember the exact science behind why it works, but it does!

@@hd2000 I've stayed in hotels for work, sometimes you don't feel like eating out or have leftovers to keep cool or want to get lunch for the next day (which usually isn't expensable). You also might want to keep drinks cold on a hot day. I agree that it's more useful for leisure travellers, but still useful for everyone.

Hi Tim, greetings from Melbourne Australia. Great channel. Premier Inns are our go to on our UK trips when not staying with family and friends. You know what you are going to get: consistency and value & also very friendly staff. Because our UK trips are planned and booked well in advance you can get great deals (but also flexibility). Might try a Plus room next trip but tbh, the bog standard ones are more than enough. Also the breakfasts…. 😋 sets us up for the day

Hi Tim, just spent a night at The Park Premier Inn in Harrogate. To be honest, the standard room we had was superb , apart from the coffee machine and fancy tea I dont see a lot of difference , oh, and the fridge of course. I have to add that the staff and meals ( meal deal) were excellent . My company had an account with Premier so I used them quite lot when I was working , now Im retired they are still my first choice for a short stay ,city break type of thing.

I travelled across the country for over a year, delivering five-day training sessions, and stayed in hotels paid for by work. I bought myself a mini fridge for just over £100, and it does improve your stay. You can have fresh milk in your tea (instead of powered), meats, salads and cold drinks. The alternative is powered milk, pot noodles things or expensive and timely visits to local restaurants or fast food outlets. It is a pain to carry in and out of the place though. There may also be a safety risk in taking your own mini fridge as it's not PAT tested by the hotel, but I never asked and just did it. I justified this to myself by thinking of all the guests taking their own laptops and devices. They plug them in to charge or use without the hotel PAT testing them.

This step up in PI rooms would certainly make me more likely to choose them over a Holiday Inn Extra say, I do though like full-service hotels and in particular some of the rather quirky old coaching inns like The Bear at Woodstock, price is not always my first consideration either when booking a hotel.

I've spent a lot of time in Premier Inn's over the last 2 years for work, all within about an 8-10 mile radius of each other, and would definitely choose them over other hotel chains when they are available. I can see how the fridge could be handy if staying for a number of nights, as you could buy fresh milk, fruit juice etc from a nearby supermarket but I can't say anything else in that PLUS room would make an difference to me, especially as I'm out at work all day. They seem to have removed that sofa/bed/lounger thing that's normally pushed up against the wall. Not sure what it's for other than a good place to unpack a suitcase and thrown clothes on etc.

Hi Tim, Thanks for the vid, nice to hear your thoughts on premier Inn as I stay in premier inns all the time for work and always go for the "plus" if available as it's usually only about a tenner more than the flex booking (which we have to use in case of last minute changes) There should be some bottled water in the fridge by the way so maybe ask at reception as they probably forgot your room lol They used to have soft and hard pillows, pre-covid but just have the hard ones now unfortunately.

Premier Inn room are not bad to start with. Good clean and same standard no matter where. I was given a Premier Plus room (free upgrade) at Heathrow T4. It was very nice. Fridge was specially appreciated to keep drinks and snacks cold. Sorry I’d take a fridge anyway over a coffee machine. And most would. If they have kids or babies or traveling by yourself. Apart from AC a fridge is probably the best addition to a room. And the Prem T4 had a Costa in the lobby so I could get a better coffee there anyway then I’d make.

We were outraged at first but turns out the hotels were great and the food and drink was excellent value.
