Matt, have you thought about combining low dosage oral minoxidil with topical at Night? Could be a good option so you stay low on oral one but still gets benefits. The heart pain in chest could be because of higher dosage as you mentioned, but it can also be because to split the tablet when you are not supposed to do so. Say if you use loniten 2.5mg tablet there is a split mark so you can divide it into 1.25mg. But if you split it even more into 0.625mg you could actually get more sides than taking one pill of 1.25mg. Since the pill from 0.625 mg is not supossed to be split (it has no mark in the pill) so the realease and absoprtion of minoxidil could be at a much faster rate than if you took 1.25mg. So in theory faster absorption could mean higher peak of concentration in blood. Hope it makes sense, just trying to help.

  • @stevo3405

3 weeks ago I switched from topical minoxidil to oral @ 1.25mg coupled with finasteride. I used topical minoxidil for 5 years after a 1200 graft FUE transplant. I wasn't bald but thinning and it was accelerating. I haven't noticed a big change yet switching to Oral minox/finasteride but I'm patient. My hair was holding on but the topical was so greasy that I called my Doctor who performed the FUE and he prescribed the oral minox/finasteride combo. For two years, I've also used Revian Red LED laser light therapy every day for 10 mins. Every Saturday, I also derma roll for 10 minutes using 1.50 mm. Yes, one could say I'm committed but the results are there: I still have a nearly full head of hair and three bald brothers who can't believe how much hair I have. Consistency and addressing it head on (pun intended) is key if you're beginning to thin. So far, I haven't noticed any side effects.

I’ve been on 0.625 mg for 3 weeks and I’ve had that sharp pain but it’s not really hindering. It happens the exact way you explained. Prior to taking OM I had my heart checked and it’s fine. I think a lot of my symptoms can be heart burn related because the pain can go away with a burp. Nothing really suggests that at this dose that I’m in any real danger, the body can take 4-6 weeks to adjust to a new medication so we’ll see. Nice video!

Hi Matt, thanks for sharing your experience. Why do you say 'you wont apply topical Finestride on your transplanted hair'? My Doctor has prescribed me a topical solution which is Minoxidil + Finasteride. He suggested me to apply it on the entire scalp, which obviously includes area with transplanted hair. I was earlier recommended topical Minoxidil after my transplant, but when I went for my 7 month post transplant follow-up check-up, Doctor said that I am shedding too much hair so he bumped up from just Minoxidil to Minoxidil+FInestried topical solution. He said to monitor for couple of months. If hair shedding doesnt stop, he most likely will recommend oral Minoxidil.

My HT surgeon doesn't recommend using oral minox. He is a big supporter of topical (and topical finasteride) but not oral. I trust him, his work is outstanding and you made a video about him btw. Sadly, I can't use any of the meds, finasteride gives me sides (low libido, depression) and topical minox makes my face swell. All I'm left with is natural stuff. But, to be honest with you, I'm 1.5 months in taking a supplement my doctor gave me and being a pescatarian. I'm also 1.5 months in after my HT. Can't talk about my hair yet cuz there's nothing to talk about at this stage but I can tell you that what you've ben describing about your beard I've noticed too. Shinier, fuller and stronger. I never had patchy beard (missing hair), it's just that some hairs were weaker while some were stronger, darker. I've always used a 3 guard on my trimmer. You could see the skin. Now, the coverage is much better, even at 3 guard it looks way fuller. I'd probably have to go to 2 to achieve the same looking beard as before.

I also had 0 shedding from oral minoxidil, so I'm not sure it was specifically because of your previous shed. I've also had 2 hair transplants and I'm a few months into OM so we're in a similar position. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it. Would be good to hear about your experience with RU58841 as well, I did experience some chest tightness from RU so I was especially wary of taking that alongside oral minoxidil.

100% agree. I just don't understand how someone can switch from a super safe drug (finasteride) to 2 super unsafe drugs : - RU58841 (abandoned research chemical...) some cases of heart failure. - oral minoxidil (not enough data on long term use for hairloss + pretty high side effects profile directly on your heart). Considering that heart failure is THE disease of the 21 centuries alongside cancer... well... I would never get on oral minoxidil when we are already prone to heart failure in the future.

Yea Matt stick to the 1.25 more doesn't make faster or Denser results .what I Guage that good results is better with less is the hypertrycosis .that is your sign that your a good responder . A stronger dose will just increase new growth in areas of your body you don't want .To concentrate on getting it where you want is if your using a topical as well the old inside out approach, before applying the topical version I rub some tretinoin and than apply the topical version .since you already have the pills I found that putting a 5 MG pill into a alfatradial I like better .it's faster drying. Much better carrier and a stacking solution

Taking this orally will significantly decrease collagen production. You avoid this applying it topically because very little goes systemic. I had no issues with heart pain but noticed the skin on my face looked much worse. It may have been in my mind but I researched after my skin began to look worse and medical journals confirmed it does decrease collagen production. Hi Matt. Thanks for the useful information! I've been a finasteride user for 10+ years, never had any side effects. But after a long time I had to switch to oral minoxidil too, because of scalp irritation. Now taking 2,5 mg a day. No sides, maybe a little extra facial hair... You know, everyone should decide for themselves what they put in their bodies. We like hair on our head so we take the little risk of using those meds. And for some people... jeez, they put crap in their bodies all day long (including alcohol, drugs, tobacco, fats,...) But they're ohw so afraid for something like low doses of minoxidil...come on guys, it's not radioactive. 😁 Live a little. Just exercise regularly, eat clean and save hair! Ps: I'm 41yo, alive and kicking! 💪

I have been taking 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil for about 6 months and my hair is better I haven't had any extra hair growing on my body my leg hair is a little longer and my arm hair is a little longer I can see new hairs growing on my head smaller hairs becoming terminal hairs I am totally an advocate for oral minoxidil I had zero side effects at 2.5 mg starting out at 1.25 mg for a month I don't think that I would be able to continue to put stuff on the top of my head every day for the next 25 years but I can probably take a pill everyday and again I've been totally happy after my two hair transplants with the oral minoxidil. Desynchronization after a hair transplant is really a subject that is not addressed enough here in these forums and it gets people worried about their transplant when it becomes thin and they have to wait for hair cycles for it to thicken back up I did not hear of this until recently and I've been researching relatively thoroughly so it's easy to miss but an important part of the process

Been taking 2.5mg oral minoxidil for 2 months Positive side effects Hair on my scalp and beard have been slowly filling in Negative side effects Hair growth on my back and I’ve never really noticed before taking oral minoxidil Chest tightening/pain maybe 2-3 times a month Eyes are getting dark circles around them And the skin is becoming more thin and wrinkles are starting to form. I thought it was my skin care regime so I stopped a month ago but still continues to worsen Stopping oral minoxidil

This is interesting. 2.5mg..... Matt said this was considered a high dose. But other people on are saying that's a low dose ?!? So confused. After two days of 2.5mg oral my heart rate went up by 30 BPM, so I'm stopping. Too many scary sides with this oral shit... not worth the risk.
