I thought that when someone is arrested for a crime, any crime at all, they were supposed to be charged and taken before a "COURT OF LAW" comprising of a judge and jury to be tried! I did not know that when someone is arrested, they were taken from the Police station by the Police, and paraded through the streets, before the public and journalists, and made to implicate themselves, by speaking out all that should have been given in evidence, before a duly constituted "COURT OF LAW" long before a trial is done? Is this how the legal and judicial system operate in Africa? This shit is frightening!

This is how media trial of criminals happens in Nigeria, and when they get to court, they can’t even secure conviction due to insufficient evidence after the crime scene must have been compromised. A suspect ideally has a right to remain silent and has right to a lawyer who will argue their case in court to protect the presumption of innocence until proven ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ that she indeed committed premeditated murder. Criminal justice system in Nigeria is a joke!

This is wrong, it is within the preview of journalists to interview a culprit in a celebrated case. She is entitled to say no comment and she would like to speak with the guidance of her lawyer. Even during the court process journalist are entitled to ask questions, she can send out a family spokesperson to speak for her or her lawyer. It just depends. If it was the Police asking her questions then that would be absurd and primitive.

Murder is a crime that can't be justified in anyway. Even if he chooses to live in a hut, it's nobody's business. We have a society where people hail rich men that wear a poor man's cloth, they call it simple life, then suddenly some people will judge you for not squandering your wealth, it's all nonsense....My business about this is that nobody deserves to be murdered. It's disgraceful justifying murder for any reason. It's very disgraceful.

It is good that women are discussing this heinous crime committed by a 21 years old university woman. And it was a crime based on a premeditated murder, and greed. And nothing reminiscent of love in the woman’s dictionary, except money and sex. Whatever the lack of self control of the deceased, he does not deserve to die in such a gruesome way. Abandon to decay in a hotel room like a street animal without ownership, and lacking sense of sympathy and consideration for human life. What a shame and possibly a betrayal of the highest level. This is a lesson for thoughts to men that some women in Nigeria are as violent as arm robbers and kidnappers. You should not entrust your personal security and life on a woman who is not your wife. Possibly the woman should be having a steady boyfriend and a university lecturers for exams favors, as the case in Nigeria. May his departed soul Rest In Peace.

We have seen serial killers kill and rob prostitutes then get paraded, it would be insensitive to be telling women generally to stop selling their body for money right under such a video. Any criminal minded woman would lie about rape, this is purely murder and not self defence. He probably was stabbed in his sleep, because she doesn't have a big chance to overpower him. Withdrawing his money after killing him confirms that it's premeditated murder. She was even reluctant in using the word rape in her interview. Let's not promote the killing of men ignorantly. Some women are now realising all they need to do to kill a man and steal his money is lie about rape, and that will have a huge negative impact on the society. If she was raped at any point, the right option she had was to walk away and report him to the police, she avoided that, because the aim was to know his pin, kill him and steal his money. As a woman she has the privilege of lying about rape to gain sympathy, and that's disturbing

She didn't strangle him, but stabbed him twice in the neck and once in the stomach with a knife. This was an overkill to make sure he was dead. There was no struggle because she has no bruises, it has been reported Michael Ataga was an amateur boxer, he would have fought for his life even in a drunken or drug-induced stupor and caused some damage to her if the story she said was plausible. My theory was that he was either sleeping on the bed or knocked out by a roofie when she slit his throat twice and stabbed him in the stomach and watching him bleed to death before she made away with his ATM. Another angle is that the courier that brought the drugs is an accomplice and they both tortured him until he gave them his PIN.

We would want to ask young girls and boys where they get money for their I phones but won't ask our politicians where they get money to own television stations. At the end of the day, kids want to grow up to be like those they look up to, but unfortunately those they want to grow up to be like are all criminals who steal money meant for the public. My brother am not blaming anyone in this sad unfortunate scenario. I am only addressing the criminality that is now our culture and the hypocrisy of the plurality of those of us within this criminality driven nation. Check this out; our governors would steal billions meant for human and infrastructural developments, denying our society our own Bill Gstes, our own Mark Zuckerberg, our own Steve Jobs etc, for lack of human and talent developments, tens of thousands would die because these governors, these senators, these presidents and other high ranking officials in governments steal our money and there's no outrage from anyone, no one calls them criminals. But yet a hungry man, woman or child steals a loaf of bread and is stoned to death. A young graduate engages in fraud may be out hopelessness and helplessness and likely a victim, and he is chased around and condemned. And who is doing the condemning, the journalists doing the condemning are in most cases employed in newspapers, in television stations and radio stations owned by these people who stole and steal our money to build them. This girl sadly allegedly killed one person and that's sad and that's unfortunate. These other set of criminals are responsible for the deaths and demise of tens of millions and I see no outrage. Rather we sit in comfortable chairs in television stations, in radio stations which are spoils of criminality, in crucifixion of the young girl. My beef is with the hypocrisy.

Materialism has plagued every corner of this country. Young people are not content with what they have. They want instant gratification by any means necessary. You go to any university and you'll find girls romantically involved with one or two men at a time. This girl is a product of her environment. To some degree she's a victim. Upbringing is key please. Family structure in our society has been destroyed. Dysfunctional family is the bedrock of moral decadence. As a Christian person, the Bible says "train your child in the way he/she go, and when he/she is old, he/she will not depart from it". So, which way should we train them that when they are old, they will not depart from it? Obviously it is the way of the Lord, which is completely absent in our society. And if the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Until we return to our maker, who authored marriage and family in the garden, no amount of analysis on social or other media will provide any solution to the current situation.

Nigerian’s need to look upon themselves. The attitude of people wanting to acquire things that they don’t have or they can not afford is simply the life styles of most Nigerian’s . The attitude of I am better off than you because I live a certain lifestyle is a problem to most Nigerian’s. Now to this girl, the act of the life style she was leaving is what she could not afford influenced by the environment that she attaches herself to and greediness. Up bring has nothing to do with her action. She is and adult and could make a decision between what is right and wrong. She chose a lifestyle of prostitution, she chose a lifestyle of earning fast money by prostitution and supporting her self, she chose a lifestyle of smoking substances in other get high. All these were her personal decisions as an adult. Her parents probably didn’t know or aware of her behaviors. As children grow and develops they get to the point that their thinking becomes concrete. At age twenty one she was of that age to know that her life style of prostitution and earning fast money was wrong. How ever, she chose that life style. Now to the dead man, he is claimed to be a billionaire and married. He chose to be unfaithful to his wife that he married and promised to love. If I may say I not empathetic towards him people would say I am not a human. That’s fine because standing out and calling a spade a spade takes a courage. When people are wrong you must have the courage to tell them the whole truth especially when they may not be willing to hear and accept the truth. This man behavior was totally unacceptable. The wife may have known, his family may have known, his friends may have known and they did not have the courage to talk to him, confronted him about his life style outside his marriage for the sake that he is a billionaire. Taken away the title of a billionaire he was a human being with severe mental health problems. He was living and behaving like any human who has deviated from what is normal and decent lifestyle to the one he should have lived . So, there was no difference between him and a poor person down the street who also endorses prostitution and substances used. If his friends and families were to put aside the billionaire title and gave him a tough love that he needed, he probably would be alive today. It’s called “intervention “.

Circumstances regardless, she has no business whatsoever to take the life of that man. She has turned a woman into a widow, innocent children to orphans. It's a pity that horrible things like this happen in Nigeria because we live in a society where killers have no victims. Just like other killers of innocent people nothing will happen to her, at the end of the day it's only a few years jail sentence and later she will be released to walk the same streets a free person. In jail, she will receive good medical care, eat good food, gym, freedom, frequent visitations by family and friends, have access to communication, in other words smartphones, tablets, etc. That is the country we live in.

As much as this is going to sound ridiculous to Nigerians l think this is also the case of the lack of leadership in Nigeria. Just imagine the president, buhari, saying most of what the ladies are saying, that would automatically be the mindset of most Nigerians. But unfortunately the leaders are so disconnected from the citizens and so clueless. Leadership is about words of hope, of counsel, grace, upliftment, encouragement, unity etc. The energy filters down either you know it or not, accept it or not.lf the so called leaders are so disconnected from the citizens why would the citizens not be disconnected from reality? It's only a very strong mind that would still say don't mind the lack of leadership in our country l or this family is going to be a family and be led properly...The words that JF Kennedy said decades ago still resounds in most Americans mind till this day, remain the watch word of most Americans believe till today. Just a word by a leader. A leader is meant, suppose to gather his people, carry along his people, when you leave them out to dry you are no longer a leader. May his soul rest in peace.
