I SPENT $6000 TO MOD MY CUMMINS-SWAPPED SQUAREBODY CHEVY AND NOW IT MAKES 1,350 FT-LBS OF TORQUE!!!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In episode 239 of Mike Finnegan’s Garage we finally Dyno-test my Cummins 12 Valve diesel-swapped Chevy Square Body ramp truck. The guys from Power Driven Diesel are back to upgrade the compound turbo system and swap my stock head for a ported unit. We also installed a better set of injectors and a custom p-pump. We did the work in one day inside of my garage and then drove 20 minutes to Mo’s Speed Shop in Dallas, Georgia to find out how much power the truck makes.
Thanks for watching and give the Power Driven guys a follow because they have awesome content on their channel: / @pddofficial
And you can support this channel by purchasing my merch at www.FSMgarage.com
Thanks!

Todd and Will know their stuff about diesels. It takes a lot of load to get the turbos to really make boost so you can add fuel to make power. I'm already subscribed to Power Driven Diesel. They are fun to watch and learn from.
Mike, It's always fun seeing you strive to go faster, but even more fun when you find people that want to make you go faster. Been subscribed to PDD for a couple of years now, and they are always doing interesting things. A great learning channel. Thanks for sharing, and good luck.
Cool upgrade for the old Ramp Truck. Jeff does a great job as does everyone at MO’s Speed shop. It’s my go-to place for performance work and tuning.
The ATF/acetone mixture does work well, particularly in the rust belt. My preferred mixture is Type F, 50/50, well shaken in a spray bottle. I'm not exactly stingy with it, either.

I've been using the acetone/atf mix for years now and it does work really well. Like you said, the more the better. They also would've had better results if they had let it sit longer as well. It takes time for the mixture to seep into the threads

There becomes a point to where you can longer control smoke most people don’t reach a a power level where that’s a problem in the pulling community it’s mainly due to being limited to a certain size turbo with drag racing it’s not as much of a issue because you can use nitrous to clean it up also big fuel is usually cheaper than big air

you seen high hp trucks that have hella nitrous and well over 150 psi of boost, its easy to clean up smoke then, less hp setups smoke more, smaller setups dont spool chargers good, and you gotta have big injectors, look at pdd's race truck, its 1350cc of fuel and a bunch of nitrous with 3 intercoolers, and 220 lbs of boost.

If you ever start that cooking show, you should call it 'Fatter With Finnegan'.
Ed's Red Bore Cleaner works great for cleaning rifles and works well on wood stocks and loosens bolts etc. equal parts of K-1 Kersoene, Mineral Spirits Paint Thinner, Acetone and ATF you can also add some lanolin as well. If you buy all the componets in Qt. cans you will have 4-Qts. and refill the containers and give 1. Qt to 3 friends. 1 Qt. will last a while.
Mike, love the content have been watching for years on road kill and your channel. Now subscribed to PDD so we can hopefully get you the triple turbo setup.
They will build it, if you sign up! Cool video Mike..... peaces ✌️
The valve lapping compound for Phillips and torx fasteners is legit. Not sure about Allen’s. I would use a tub of it a year pulling fuel panels on jets.
Use a tight fitting Torx in place of the Allen wrench to remove the head studs. They are much harder than Allen wrenches are, and won't round over like those do, and also won't distort the Allen socket in the head stud. They work so much better that I don't use Allen wrenches anymore.
Snap-on tools are expensive, but for hand tools, they are worth it. They will save you money in the long term. Not rounding off so many fasteners and not breaking nearly as often as others means you can do jobs faster. If you can get a few extra cars done every month, you'll quickly pay for the difference in price.

3:15 Mike, I’ve used 50/50 mix on that atf/acetone recently. Works well, especially if you’re frustrated and leave the offending hardware overnight.
Gramps always told me, sonny if it ain't broke don't fix it!! I never listened
Such a good day with the boys and power driven diesel know there stuff...also know your trying for power when your piping clamps have springs attached to hold them closed
Ive used atf/acetone mix and its atleast comparable to pb blaster. Definitely really good for the cost. Especially if your using used atf.
A straight extension won’t affect the torque reading, but something that changes the length of the wrench like a Crows foot certainly will.
The acetone and ATF works best if you use the synthetic ATF bc it will creep through every crack even better
You know those injectors must be good because around 43:30 they were looking at each other, wondering how much they should be saying about how they work. They wanted to tell Finn, but also there were trade secrets floatin' about Lmao. Good stuff.

I just bought that same Snap-on Techangle torque wrench because of this video. Thanks Finnegan for helping add to my debt
Get a penetrant called kroil, its basically acetone and atf but their own proprietary blend, hands down the best penetrant money can buy, we use it to take apart steam turbines that have been running for 10-20 years and nothing else even comes close

I love how in the diesel truck blowing up video. How dude driving, in the heat of the moment puts his helmet visor down. But you can see, as soon as he pushes that button on the steering wheel. Is when the magic happens. By that I mean, the engine disappeared.
Acetone / ATF is my go to living in the rust belt it’s proven itself to me time and time again.
Mike, you need to get hold of Derek @ Vice grip garage, and have him send you his hood saver for square bodys. He is prototyping them to sell. Helps with the dreaded hood crease .
Pure entertainment! Bring it on Mike!
I have a 84 chevy K10 square body, witg the original 6.2L diesel, I love it so dearly.
Did a long extension torque test once. Had all the mechanics donate long extensions and we made an extension at least 10 feet long. Using 3/8" drive for maximum flex. Used a Snap On torque wrench set to 35 ftlbs and used it on Yamaha ATV lug nuts. The only difference we found between extensions and no extension was that the extension flexed a lot, meaning you had to turn the wrench an additional half turn or more with a ten foot extension to take up the flex, but the on and off torque accuracy was pretty close. Close enough that the mega extension basically made no difference. We did not try this test on really high torque values. I'd imagine those would show some variability using a ten foot extension.
@boostaddict_

The myth around extensions affecting torque comes from impacts. On an impact it dampens the blows from the hammers and limits torque. Doesn't affect ratchets at all.
@somethingelse2740
Жыл бұрын
@@boostaddict_ Fair enough, but the reason we did our test was that a few of the guys said you shouldn't use extensions with torque wrenches. So maybe the myth varies a bit from person to person?
@boostaddict_

@@somethingelse2740 Probably. Impacts lose torque, constant torque like a ratchet or torque wrench won't.
Acetone + ATF absolutely works for rusted parts got to put it in airtight container to store it or acetone will evaporate.

Try a 50/50 mix of WD-40 and trans fluid. I used old trans fluid with the WD-40 and it works really good. Can use some heat on the bolts first then spray it on. Let it soak for a little while.

The reason Nord Locks work is because the outer serrations dig into each surface and the ramps on the inner faces are angled higher than the pitch of the bolt. Basically they require the bolt to stretch in order for them to rotate relative to one another.
Thank you for not smoking, Mr Finnegan. You're the man.
One tip I'd like to give you. The bottle you put the penetrant in you should take the dipper tube off, when the acetone changes temperature it can potentially empty the bottle. We use those MEK and I have had one empty itself on my cart while I was not at work. Lessons leart hart way Lol. You'll have to tip the bottle to use it, but the mess will far less.
The video of the of the cam bouncing off of the railing is insane!
