Well done on getting through your backlog. Nothing better than painting something up and it looks great and then when you're done you're just like " Why did I wait so long to paint this. that was awesome!"

feels good getting it done hey, I've been doing it for a month so far. I plan to get all the sprues done first then move on to the metals and reaper bones. Its hard not to get distracted though I started printing a dark elf army for warhammer lol

At least you have something to paint, I started painting my son's plastic dinosaurs because I ran out of things to paint 😂

Oh man. "Pile of Shame" is the best description. I am inspired to crack on with mine. Got a full Leviathan box, a Drukhari Combat Patrol, and a Kill Team Starter.

Building is one of my favorite parts of the hobby. Basing and painting not so much because I'm really down on myself because of my lack of skills. But I'm working on changing that and getting more of my back log of miniatures painted. I have some 200 or so minis built and primed but only a few actually painted. Since last year I've definitely painted more in the current year.

My town has a local GW shop and I go in for paints mostly? It's kind of a little ritual, the guy asks me how my Skaven are going... I say 'well, 100 to go..'. But yeah with options like element games and wayland games it makes little sense to buy direct from GW...

Assembly is the worst part of the pile of shame. If I won the lottery, I would hire someone to assemble for me.

I feel your building pain. Nowadays i set myself the rule of assembling 1 units or a building every day. This helped me greatly so far.

I’m getting back into warhammer after 10 years and I am starting small. I’m gonna be playing warcry and splitting a starter box set with a friend so we both don’t a have a load to build and paint but it’s still enough to get us both back into the hobby and feel good about what we accomplished!

My strategy/goal is to build all my boxed minis, maybe also basecoat spray too. And then i have a drawer full of miniatures ready to paint. So i can choose what i want to paint quite spontaneously and its a lower bar to start.

You did an amazing job! I need to stop making excuses and go do something similar.

Excellent rim jobs. I say if you aren't giving stuff away, just slop-chop/flop/plop whatever the F to put some color on plastic in the fastest way possible. You can always go back and tidy things up or completely strip models and start over. I have the opposite problem of you. I'm TOO precise and have a hard time just letting go and painting quickly, but I'm working on it. Switching more to airbrush is helping. I'll probably slap most of my pile over the holidays.

Actually, I tend to feel the pinch in my hip pocket nerve. It is while recovering from that I put the purchase down and wonder where the hell I am going to find the space for them because I don't have a spare room. And so goes the plethora of distractions that lead me to realise that the grey still exists 12 months later. But in a frenzy of construction I now have a bunch of armies built and wondering when they will feel the caress of a brush. Orks are feeling the love first because it's that time of year.

Currently doing this now. No new minis purchased until the pile of shame is gone. Building an 8th Army, of which I have 96 infantry to paint. Then, about 15 vehicles and tanks. I then have roughly 100 or more misc minis from my other armies to assemble and paint. The goal is to have all the minis done by Spring 2024😂

I have sooo much backlog. Probably couple of thousand of euros worth. But I managed to actually motivate myself to buy Cursed City (in August) and actually paint the damn thing. I have 5 more heroes to finish and we are done. Feels so weird actually being productive.

Honestly, if someone is just painting and not playing, who cares how long it takes someone to paint their minis. I just started building armies last September and accumulated over 12000 points across Primaris, Chaos, Ork and World Eaters. All still boxed or NOS. 😁

I know it’s a totally personal thing, but it really gives me anxiety having all that ;( I gave some away to Casey from eBay rescue and the rest I painted. I did kept some for projects I have in mind and wanna save them for it!
