as a roblox dev, my unpopular opinion is that the Roblox business model is fine. now I shit on roblox for other things, but they don't take too much money imo when you consider that they give you a game engine, a store, visibility, payment processing, servers, assets.. and visibility is the most important of those. It's way easier to make people play a roblox game than make them download a whole game.

Seen so many accounting ?s going on in this thread. As an accountant I will answer them. Yes he can write off the expenses. What this means is they are a dollar for dollar decrease to his revenue over the year. So if he had $1,000 of income and $500 in expenses, such as in game purchases. He has a net of $500 of net income. So this goes on the tax return. Now do not be confused. He still has spent $500 in actual money. The deduction is there to hopefully lower his tax bracket (aka the amount of tax you pay) to save $. So the deduction does not mean it is “free”. You’re still incurring the expense and paying for it. The deduction only deals with tax bracket not actually spending $. So he’s still out $500 in bank account/real money. Moreover, the expenses that are allowed to be deducted have to be necessary and ordinary to the business. So for example, as a video gamer/entertainer he can’t just buy a submarine and call it a business expense. Now if he was in the maritime business and had an ordinary business use for the submarine he could. (The edit is for grammar, and since I’m getting replies on my other comment I am trying to simplify my language used)
