I Spent $100 on The Best Dead Steam Games

Ойындар

Today Rye Games spends over $100 on some of Steam's weirdest, oldest, most broken dead games. These games were suggested by you guys and the majority are older FPS games, but there's also War of rights, a civil sim & OBEY which is a game I can't fully explain. These games weren't necessarily survival games, or puzzle games or even MMO's but they all had one thing in common and that's a small community. If you encounter any of the people included in this video please be respectful.

the solution is to stop buying games like Battlefield because they are installments. The entire point of their franchise is for you to continually buy the next installment, just like Madden or Nba2k. Those types of developers/franchises will rarely let fans run the game.

@@johnbigelson7471 DH is very out dated as far as graphics and player movement there are many negatives about the game but where it shines is the vast amount of content and unique game play quirks. If you have an interest in comparisons with Hell Let Loose I've made some here. Taking a look at Hell Let Loose it seems to have some kind of cosmetic dress up system and XP grind to unlock stuff. in RO Darkest Hour you wear the uniform of your class appropriate to the time period and location the battle takes place along with weapons correct for that battle and role you pick. HLL seems to have only 3 factions, DH has British, Americans, Germans, Polish, Russia, and a few more along with sub factions like playing as the Volkssturm, with limited ammunition and crudely built guns. DH has many more vehicles and types of them from jeeps to open top tank destroyers, vehicles have component damage like engine fires, tracks turret rings and sight telescopes can be taken out. DH has more complex hit models for players. guns can be shot out of your hand, non lethal hits to the head knock off helmets, shots to the legs cause you to drop to prone and takes a bit of time before you can run. DH has hundreds of maps HLL looks like it has 7. sorry for the long post, try the game out, check for peek player hours. its not the best game ever but nothing modern has the amount of map variety and content.

@@johnbigelson7471 More realistic vehicles; armor angling and range actually matters. Some vehicles get smoke, white phosphorous, or canister shells. Way more kinds of vehicles, like dozens. Bazookas and panzershreks can be reloaded by teammates; pretty cool to be an actual AT team like that scene in Band of Brothers where they kill the Stug. Squad leaders can use radiomen as mobile radios. You can brace your gun on things to stop weapon sway, which makes the game more about positioning and intelligence, and less about raw physical FPS skill. Maybe I just suck at HLL, but there seems like way less walking and more fighting/fun. I prefer the way old graphics too; I find HLL -too- detailed, it's hard to see things to me.

I was (and still am) so sad about BC2 servers being shutdown. Such a let down from EA. There were still people playing when they close it, it's not like the game died, but still went ahead and closed it because it got too old to their liking, and they want people to buy their newer games I guess. But BC2 is where I met a lot of my friends that remain to this day, this is what I built my youtube and twitch channel around, it litterally made me who I am today. I'm glad there is at least Project Rome. I've been so bummed out by BC2 servers being gone that I didn't even look into it yet, but the urge to play is coming back and I'll definitely be checking it out. Have over 10k hours in BC2 and I've enjoyed every single minute. I am happy to see BC2 being mentioned, but it also saddens me that is now considered a dead game. I ran into this video on my feed (as I have been on a World War II kick again) and saw you playing Darkest Hour. That mod was some of the most fun I had back in 2010-2014 despite playing on an awful WiFi connection. When the maps were packed, there was a lot of memorable moments of chaotic play. The tank combat was the best part and I got a lot of thrills out of the combined arms aspect of the game. Hopefully the community continues to thrive and I think I should play it again for old times sake. Excellent job on the video and thank you for making this!

There's a weird sense of art that I get from watching what you do. Like watching a play or being in a museum. There are so many things in the world that are beloved by communities of people that not everyone will ever see or experience. Thank you for shedding light on how endearing games of the past were for so many people. Words don't do much justice to how much I enjoying watching and how much I appreciate you taking time out of your life to make something to share with the world around you.

I used to play war trigger. Still play it every once in a while. It was huge back when it was red crucible 2. The reason it died so quick was the pay to win aspect and how easy it was to spawn camp and just use infinite claymores around every corner. You can alt look in the game so you can be completely behind a wall and kill people by strafing left and right. It used to be very pay to win as premium guns had very fast ttk’s. But there was a huge wave of cheaters around the 2018 era before it rebranded to war trigger 2 and 3. Thanks for checking out one of the games i used to play growing up! I hope the new version coming out can bring back some nastalgia

@@jehianezra4452 it was 100% pay to win. You couldnt buy premium guns without using real money. And the premium guns had a way faster time to kill than what you unlocked. Guns like the ppsh and mini gun were insanely overpowered

BFBC2 was the first online game I played online. I even remember the date (23 Mar 2010). I ranked around #2 or usually around the top 5 during each match. But playing this game was long ago. Seeing it for the very first time in so many years in this video was quite nice and brought back many memories ! ! ! If I had known then how to have saved my gameplay, I would have uploaded it to my old KZread account but I had no previous experience with that. In 2013, I had joined the Army and was later wounded in action about a decade ago. Thanks Rye for the video ! ! ! 🤗🤗

You should continue this kind of series when possible. I first started playing PC games in 2002 and have so many fond memories of playing MOHAA, COD, Battlefield 1942, CS, Unreal Tournament, and the list goes on. Like you said, it would be nice to restore some of these games with bug fixes and improvements and big influencers like you could host a game for everything to hop on or simply create a couple of servers for a few weeks for people to try out some of these old gems.

There was this game on the Microsoft store a long time ago, around 2015 or 16 (when i started playing i think it came out before then) from what I can remember, it was a fps shooter game and it was sorta like call of duty and other r6 mixed together but just a lot worse, It was called "Modern Combat 5: Blackout" I just remember being younger and having gotten my first ever computer and that was one of the first games I ever played. I think it'd be cool to see a video on it considering I've never heard anyone ever talk about it. Kinda felt like I was the only one who played it. Much love and I enjoy watching these a lot keep it up!
