  • @nowayjosehomegym

    @nowayjosehomegym

    4 ай бұрын

    Thanks! I went with the hybrid version because mainly space and pain to load plates. Also the stacked version is heavier and does not rock as the plate loaded version. The PL needs extra space to load plates from the side and I had a tight space to make it work. I do not have a video of how I carry everything downstairs as I had to disassemble mostly everything in my gym to be able to bring it downstairs. The prime ships assembled so had to disassemble and then assemble it back downstairs and it was VERY HEAVY!

    Amazing gym Jose! Very well thought out and executed, great video. Almost everything in your gym is the best on the market. Only things more premium than what you already have would be the Watson dumbbells instead of American Barbell, the Freemotion Genesis dual cable cross instead of the Prime Functional Trainer, and the Rogue lp-2 instead of the Prime single stack. Be careful with the Prime functional trainer and single stack, they are known to break under full load. Check out Sam Sulek's video where the prime functional trainer literally breaks while he is recording a workout video.

  • @nowayjosehomegym

    @nowayjosehomegym

    3 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback! I would probably choose Eleiko EVO instead of Watsons. The free motion and LP2 are too difficult to bring downstairs and I don’t have the ceiling height for an LP2 or CT1s. Didn’t know that they could break, I’ll look that video up! Thanks!

  • @centralparkpiper

    @centralparkpiper

    3 ай бұрын

    Anytime man, you have one of the best setups out there. The Eleiko evos are very nice, I like them as well. Understood about your ceiling height regarding the lp-2, it’s definitely on the taller side and you need almost 9 feet clearance. In reference to prime, definitely check out the video of Sam Sulek doing tricep extensions and the prime functional trainer snaps under load. IMO Prime is heavily overpriced and they use the scarcity sales tactic to make their sales. It’s a very east coast way of doing business. 55 weeks lead time is just laughable. Though I would say that lead time would be more understandable for a premium item like Watson dumbbells. I know a couple people personally who have had issues with equipment from prime. Your gym is amazing though man, very well thought out and implemented

  • @drlincolnlifts

    Comparing specs between the freemotion genesis and prime functional trainer, it appears prime had substantially heavier stacks. Why do you feel the freemotion is superior?

  • @centralparkpiper

    @centralparkpiper

    3 ай бұрын

    @@drlincolnliftsthe stacks on the two are equivalent. The freemotion is a 3 to 1 ratio which makes the maximum weight possible to be 80lbs whereas the prime is a 2:1 ratio which makes the max output around 125lbs. The freemotion is significantly smoother than the prime and feels more robust and premium when using it. The freemotion has a cable travel length that is much longer (I believe 3x longer) which allows for athletic ballistic type movements with the pulley. The freemotion has 25 plates on each stack with a pin system for weight adjustment which is quick and easily used whereas the prime has 12 plates and uses a additional side weight system to further adjust increments, which just feels less premium and is more cumbersome. the freemotion has a wider possible pulley to pulley potential at 122in compared to primes 119 and the freemotion takes up a much smaller footprint. The freemotion uses a thicker 7 gage steel for many of its components. Honestly The freemotion just feels more premium, when you’ve used both the difference is pretty significant.

  • @drlincolnlifts

    @drlincolnlifts

    3 ай бұрын

    @@centralparkpiper Thank you for this detailed response! It was the difference between the "felt resistance" that caught me up and made me think the Prime would be the better choice. I have used an earlier version of the Freemotion with a single stack, and I agree, it has a very smooth feel and is a great machine. For typical uses, the 80 lb per side maximum should be plenty, but I could see stronger athletes "maxing out" the machine for heavy rows or presses.

    Hi Mr. NoWayJose: Those Watson plates are super nice. Watson is in the UK, and it must have cost a fortune to deal with overseas shipping, domestic shipping, and U.S. and UK customs. Do you allow your friends, and family to work out in your unbelievable gym? I started a garage gym with sixty for my friends/family. We have custom made Excalibur 304 stainless steel welded equipment. Not a lot of people can afford to join a gym, and do not have the upfront money for a garage/basement gym. What equipment are your thinking about getting next? I hope to see more of your KZread videos. Take Care.

    @@nowayjosehomegym Hi NoWayJose: Thanks for replying. Sorry for the late response. I have been in the process of buying, and moving. Prime Fitness is a good company, and unfortunately there is a long wait time for the purchase of their equipment. If I remember correctly, Prime Fitness bought out Strive Equipment known for their Target Loading machine weights. Watson Stainless Steel Dumbbells are super nice, and as you said, super expensive. I remember seeing a gym in the UK, featured on KZread, having Watson dumbbells from 1kg to 100kg, in 1kg increments. You mentioned a storage solution for those. If you are getting Watson Stainless Steel Dumbbells, and have a lot of extra money. I would recommend, and suggest a fully welded Excalibur Fitness Three-two tier 3/8 inch 304 high polish stainless steel, with double saddle dumbbell racks, to fit your 31 pairs of Watson dumbbells. Larry Sullivan of Excalibur Fitness custom fabricated for me, and my friends, a pair of two-tier free standing (top tier is not welded to the bottom tier) dumbbell racks, with extra gussets. We paid about seven thousand around 2005. Larry Sullivan delivered more equipment to us (Spokane/San Francisco) in 2011. He replied, if he had to make the same custom-made racks, it would easily cost over eleven thousand. It is now 2024, and stainless-steel prices have skyrocketed. It would be advisable, to get double, or possibly triple saddles to fit dumbbells over 100 pounds. I work as a fitness instructor, and I have never seen double saddled dumbbells racks. Cybex, Icarian/Precor, Flex/Star Trac, Nautilus/StairMaster, Hammer Strength/Life Fitness, Body Masters, and other companies, does not have any double saddle dumbbell racks in their listings. Plus, it is not safe having a long heavy dumbbell hanging off a single saddle. Larry Sullivan is the owner of Excalibur Fitness in Spokane, Washington. Excalibur Fitness was written in an article in Muscle & Fitness in 1986. Larry Sullivan was foreman of Icarian, during their early years in the 80's. He often worked overtime designing/fabricating new equipment, and eventually given a small percentage of Icarian, from the owners of Briles, and Johnson. Early generation of Icarian before Precor, were in all of the World, PowerHouse, and Gold's gyms. Those old school/heavy duty exercise equipment took decades of abuse. Larry Sullivan also fabricates stainless steel gates/balconies, which highlights his artistic side. The Watson Stainless Steel dumbbells would look phenomenal with the Excalibur Stainless Steel dumbbell racks. Sorry for the long reply. Take Care.
