i like the implication that the only reason you don't use the predictor in speedruns is that you don't like it and not that it's illegal in the glitchless category (not that hats% is a submittable category but still)

I randomly got the living hat for the first time recently during a perfection save, decided to make it a hat perfection save too and now the only RNG hat I'm missing is the mushroom cap!

It's wild how you got two mushroom hats at the same time.

Fun fact : 3 months ago when i started playing stardew seriously i was progressing the mines on day 6. Something to remember is that i did not know how rare the living hat was. I had one of those spiral floors in the mines then got to the middle after a 1 hour struggle (ingame) cuz of annoying monters. After i got at the middle i broke all of the crates and some weeds then got the living hat. In the frustration of « not getting anything good OR RARE » , i simply trashed a the living hat for more inventory space… (i realized a couple of days later while watching a random stardew video that this was the rarest item in the whole game) Update: wut 100 likes?!

yeah my first day playing I got the living hat on day 1. didn't know it was the rarest item in the game since I got it so easily. I ended up deleting that file the same day bc I wanted to start over (don't remember why). What a shame.

i got the garbage hat on one of my first saves. didn't realize it was rare at all, i was just like "AWESOME I LOVE THIS THING" and wore it like a trophy

If you didn’t know you can smash the attack button while using special hammer attack and attack a bunch of times. That hammer probably had better burst than the galaxy sword using that bug lol

I’ve never had trouble getting the trash hat, hell one run I wound up with four in the first year

At 13 weeds a second, you have a roughly 50/50 chance of getting the hat in 89 minutes and a 90% chance of getting the hat in 5 hours. You can calculate this by taking the chance of not getting a hat (99,999/100,000) and raising it to the power of 13 to get the chance of not getting the hat on any given second. Raising it to the power 13x where x is the number of seconds tells you your chances of not getting the hat in that many seconds. For a value of 17,712 seconds, the chance of not getting the hat drops below 10%.

I had never realized the living hat was rare because I got it by accident during summer year 1 of my first ever play through by breaking a random fiber lmao I even almost trashed it!

I'm trying to collect all the hats in my main perfection save and still haven't found the trash hat. Of course found it in the first week when I started a different save 😅

I finally got the living hat!! 500 runs and 25 hours. Glad that's done.

I've been attempting to get every hat on my perfection file, and I'm so mad about the RNG hats. It's been check trash, sythe, kill tiger slimes, repeat for literally MONTHS.
