Today I decided to share an update on how my journey is going regarding selling low end sports cards primarily football cards on the live streaming sales platform, Whatnot! I’ll provide some insight into what it’s actually like selling on whatnot and how you can do by showing actual prices that I’ve received during the livestreams I host! I plan on posting an update every 3 months hopefully and maybe in the future even every single week if possible. I will also be live for the 4th Whatnot Card Show and will be running plenty of 1$ 10 second sudden death auctions during the stream! I hope to see you there and I hope to be joined by you during the 5th Whatnot card show as a vendor!

As someone who looking to start a WN stream this video is very helpful. I just need to pull the trigger and get my first show going not sure why I’m so scared/nervous to start. I was told the first few shows you lose money but that the cost of building your following on WN. Anyway keep it up and love the break down.

I figured that there had to be people out there that were in that same boat! Honestly I wish I would’ve started way earlier when I was first approved to start selling around 2 years back! The progress I would’ve seen now would’ve been amazing. Even 4 months in you’ll end up taking losses especially if you don’t have many ways to source inventory that are super good, but in the long run you’ll build something and there are always different avenues other than just the auctions you run like buy it now section items! I have posted a video on the same topic going through stuff it just sadly I had larger sticky notes so it’s a bit rougher to see the cards but I kinda say what each of them are for the most part, kinda shows the progress potentially. Make sure you subscribe to the channel so I can continue to put out content you might enjoy and you’ll be able to see it :) let me know if you have any suggestions of videos regarding this because I have never really found anyone going into the behind the scenes stuff into complete details :)

@@ruffasportscards Already sub awhile back. Another quick question, do you pre-prep your show? Numbered out your auctions so you know what to run?

I get a general idea of the number of auctions I have in my boxes to run; typically I’ll get an idea that I need to fill 2 two row boxes and that’ll plenty stock me up for the entirety of the streams that I host. I kinda get a game plan now with knowing what cards I’ll run in lots and what cards I’ll run as singles, pretty much just knowing that I want at least 200 auctions each week (number I’ve found to like) and being able to go over that into the 300s if wanted

i absolutely love the transparency with how much you made after fees, as well as how little some cards go for when you have a smaller following or are just starting.

I’ve always been looking for someone that makes this exact type of content, just so it might’ve push me to start selling on the whatnot platform faster, so I figured there had to be more people looking to watch these type of videos or people who would like to watch them but don’t even know it yet :) I’m super glad you enjoyed the video I appreciate your support and I hope you decide to subscribe to join us on our journey here

i think id rather start at 2 dollars and not sell as sell for 1 dollar. you can always run the unsold ones at next show.

Hopefully you decide to subscribe if you haven’t already :) Honestly I’ve found that the times you can’t get 2$ the first go around are ones that I’ve seen sell for 3$ if you start at 1$, for me it’s 80 cents and the amount of times cards go for higher amounts or the people it automatically brings in will already pay for itself :)

Thanks for doing this Video - I'm one of many that want to go onto whatnot, but am afraid of starting. I have an Android Phone and all their prep stuff on Whatnot is for using IPhones. Does anyone use Android Phones and works on Whatnot? Do you also need a Tablet to work on Whatnot? Please help me understand on what equipment i would need to sell Sports cards on Whatnot? Thanks for any help you can give me. Barry

Im not too positive but I think you’d be able to access all of the extra information like the videos and all of that on a laptop potentially. You don’t need a tablet from what I know, but I do also have an iPhone so I’m not too sure. From what I do all that I need is a Phone, a Laptop (to print out labels) and then a printer to print out the labels (also any sort of packaging material or anything like that you might need.

Make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already :) I’m sorry I couldn’t answer many of your questions, but typically the whatnot support staff and team are really great at giving answers to anything you can think of especially those types of questions

Great vid! Out of curiosity, maybe I missed it in your videos, but what is your cost average per card? I FB messaged you about a possible lot.

It really just depends; like in this one i did a lot of auctions with multiple cards in the order so it’ll drive up the total costs associated with running a bigger show like this, but when talking per card it really just ranges from being in the cents to being where I paid multiple dollars for the cards. I would guess an average of around 70 cents just because I buy bulk lots of stuff and get the price to be around 20 cents or so depending on the lot and all that, and then sometimes I’ll pay up depending on the cards, but I have no idea what the exact number for cost per card. Make sure that you subscribe so you can enjoy more videos I put out in the future. I’ll try to do some videos about my cost per card and all that nitty gritty information but for now I just know it’s sunk cost.
