I sold my Svartpilen 401... Here's why.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I've sold my Svartpilen 401! Here's the reasoning why, what I think long term of the Husqvarna, and what led me to this decision, most of which isn't related specifically to this bike, and instead trying something else in my motorcycling journey going forward.

Just popping in here to say that I watched all your Svartpilen 401 videos while looking for reviews on the bike and tossing up between a 2024 or an older model such as your 2021. I never watched this video, but I did see the title of it while looking at the other svartpilen videos, but ended up at Motohub for my first bike after getting my Ls in the last month and I am now the owner of this fantastic 2021 Svartpilen 401 as seen in the video. I'll do my best not to drop it Kris!

I put a $100 ebay exhaust with the baffle removed and it just makes the bike breath so much better. Sounds substantial too.

I've had my '22 Vit 401 for a year and a half and I'm still very pleased with it. No plans on getting something else but if I did it would be the new 401 or 801. Looking forward to vids on your new Honda. Cheers Kris!

I was very very tempted to keep it, as it's a great machine. But a hard decision had to be made! The new 801 looks great, I can't wait to ride one.

TLDR get a specialized bike if you’re gonna do specialized riding. Good beginner bike.

I never used one to be honest, I just ran the collector delete. I don't think there was any improvement over stock fueling with the delete, but no real issues either. I was thinking about it if I added a slip-on though.

Como la comparas con la triumph speed 400? Estoy valorando comprar la nueva vitpilen 401 o la triumph speed 400 . Cual me recomiendas ? La nueva husq parece que va más equipada pero también es más cara

I thought both were very impressive. The 401 definitely has the edge in tech/rider aids, as well as a bit more adjustability. If you're really pushing the boundaries of what a 400 cc bike can do, I think the 401 will come out ahead there. But between the two I'd personally buy on which I like the looks of most, as I don't think you're losing out on anything vital with the Speed 400, and would still be very happy overall.

If you could do the 23 model brand new for $3,700 before tax and fees today, vs waiting and hunting for a full price 24, what would you go with? I don't have another bike at the moment and this is the decision I'm facing.

If I could get a really good deal on the '23 I'd go that bike, if it's fairly close between them I'd wait for a '24.

I'll probably see if I can organise something in the second half of the year, as things are pretty frantic at the moment, which is having an impact on getting content out. But I hope so. Nothing locked in at this stage however.

It is hard to juggle multiple bikes without a reason for their existence. I have a Duke 200 for weekday commuting, an Aprilia Shiver for fun on the weekend & a Suzuki 250 Bandit for wrenching on (I swear I'll get it back on the road soon. 😅). I have 2 more bikes that don't get any love so they're currently on the chopping block. The Svartpilen 401 has been at the top of my want list for a while now. I just need an excuse to get one & hitting fire trails & gravel roads may be that excuse. I just have to find where any are around Sydney.

Definitely! If the reasons are there, it definitely works, and I'm hoping to do the same eventually when I have a shed, with a bike I can wrench on added to the mix. But I need the shed first!

You're going to love the TA Chris. I've got 7k on mine now. Factor in a re spring and re valve for your rear shock, especially considering your going to be doing a little pillion work. It's the only real fault I've found so far. The rear shock is about as good as a gpx750R rear shock from 1986.

Oh nice! You done any other mods than the suspension? I definitely had that in mind, and trying to figure out what to prioritise first.

@@MotoJournoKris barkbusters, skid plate (modified from my previous bike), White's heated grips, phone mount/charger, Hepco and Becker top box. Front forks are fine Chris. I'm 80kgs and got them working fine with just some preload. But the shock isn't workable. Either re spring and re valve it, or throw in an ohlins mate. The only other addition I have planned is a Veridian cruise control.

@@martythompson6509 Barkbusters and the skid plate were top of my list. I did wonder about replacing the shock, get an external preload adjuster and more adjustability kind of thing to make tweaks between solo and pillion a bit easier. How do you find the top box? Honda seem to have some luggage options but they are on the pricey side of things once you add all the fixings in.

@@MotoJournoKris I'm around 80kgs and have the rear pre load maxxed out solo without top box. So yeah, definitely a harder spring for you. Remote/hydraulic pre load adjuster would be very convenient for you adding and subtracting pillion regularly. Ohlins do one. Around $1500. But surely ohlins will help you out a bit I'd imagine. STX46 model from vague recollection.
