I think its more based on how Dallas performs at the start of the season, because they're just incredible chokers. Madden also doesnt account for coaching, which Dallas is dog shit at.

The one thing madden doesn’t do on simulations is that it doesn’t spike the ball to stop the clock. Drives me nuts

The Bills went from the least Super Bowl wins to the most Super Bowl wins in 1 video, amazing stuff here!! I don't want any specific team to win but it's cool anyway.

I came back to this video because I thought it warranted further analysis. We were given the results of each playoff game for every sim, as well as the seeding (for every sim but one-but I inferred that based on the records given in the MVP results), and that could be used to develop a power ranking of sorts. The simplest way I know of to do that is to look at the total number of playoff games each team won, with ties broken by their number of playoff appearances. I did need to break one more tie, so I used scoring margin per game to do it. Here's that list: 1) Cowboys (48 wins, 30 apps) 2) Bengals (45 wins, 26 apps) 3) Bills (43 wins, 31 apps) 4) 49ers (35 wins, 30 apps) 5) Chiefs (32 wins, 28 apps) 6) Eagles (30 wins, 26 apps) 7) Ravens (25 wins, 28 apps) 8) Panthers (19 wins, 19 apps, +2.6 pts/G) 9) Chargers (19 wins, 19 apps, +1.0 pts/G) 10) Falcons (16 wins, 21 apps) 11) Giants (16 wins, 19 apps) 12) Broncos (12 wins, 9 apps) 13) Packers (9 wins, 20 apps) 14) Jaguars (9 wins, 16 apps) 15) Jets (9 wins, 15 apps) 16) Saints (8 wins, 14 apps) 17) Seahawks (7 wins, 13 apps) 18) Steelers (7 wins, 9 apps) 19) Vikings (6 wins, 9 apps) 20) Dolphins (5 wins, 5 apps) 21) Commanders (5 wins, 4 apps) 22) Lions (3 wins, 10 apps) 23) Texans (3 wins, 3 apps) 24) Titans (1 win, 14 apps) 25) Browns (1 win, 8 apps) 26) Raiders (1 win, 6 apps) 27) Buccaneers (1 win, 5 apps) 28) Rams (1 win, 2 apps) 29) Colts (0 wins, 6 apps) 30) Bears (0 wins, 2 apps) 31) Patriots (0 wins, 1 app) 32) Cardinals (0 wins, 0 apps) Now the astute among you might think that the above list raises some red flags. For instance, how can you say that the Texans belong above the Titans when they play in the same division and the Titans made 11 more appearances in the playoffs? Or that the Broncos are better than the Packers when the Packers likewise made 11 more appearances? Isn't this a pretty small sample size? All of those concerns are warranted, so it's probably worth it to identify a better method to rank the teams. I've now created a point system where every playoff berth is worth 4 points, every divisional round appearance 3 points, every conference championship appearance 7 points, every Super Bowl appearance 14 points, and every Super Bowl win 28 points, each scaled based on how many teams do the same thing (that is, 56 total points are available for the Super Bowl champion, 28 for the conference champion, and so on), then added up each team's points and ranked them. Here is that list: 1) Cowboys: 653 pts 2) Bills: 641 pts 3) Bengals: 492 pts 4) Chiefs: 410 pts 5) 49ers: 403 pts 6) Eagles: 355 pts 7) Ravens: 299 pts 8) Chargers: 275 pts 9) Falcons: 208 pts 10) Panthers: 203 pts 11) Giants: 186 pts 12) Packers: 129 pts 13) Broncos: 124 pts 14) Jaguars: 101 pts 15) Jets: 98 pts 16) Saints: 84 pts 17) Seahawks: 81 pts 18) Steelers: 79 pts 19) Vikings: 76 pts 20) Titans: 59 pts 21) Lions: 53 pts 22) Dolphins: 43 pts 23) Commanders: 39 pts 24) Browns: 35 pts 25) Raiders: 27 pts 26) Texans: 25 pts 27) Colts: 24 pts 28) Buccaneers: 23 pts 29) Rams: 11 pts 30) Bears: 8 pts 31) Patriots: 4 pts 32) Cardinals: 0 pts Honestly, that's not super different from the previous list. There's one more thing we can do, which is create a nested list from 1-14 of playoff teams from each year where the Super Bowl champion is 1, runner-up is 2, conference runner-up that lost to the champion is 3, other conference runner-up is 4, and so on, basing each team's ranking on the team they lost to. Then assign every other team an arbitrary ranking of 23.5 (exactly halfway between 15 and 32), and average each team's ranking across all the sims. Here is that list: 1) Cowboys: 5.7 2) Bills: 6.1 3) 49ers: 7.5 4) Bengals: 8.7 5) Chiefs: 8.8 6) Ravens: 9.3 7) Eagles: 10.2 8) Falcons: 13.1 9) Panthers: 14.1 10) Chargers: 14.2 11) Giants: 14.5 12) Packers: 14.9 13) Jaguars: 15.7 14) Jets: 16.3 15) Saints: 17.0 16) Seahawks: 17.2 17) Titans: 18.4 18) Broncos: 18.9 19) Steelers: 19.0 20) Vikings: 19.2 21) Lions: 19.6 22) Browns: 20.1 23) Dolphins: 20.9 24) Raiders: 21.0 25) Colts: 21.2 26) Commanders: 21.3 27) Buccaneers: 21.5 28) Texans: 21.9 29) Rams: 22.7 30) Bears: 22.8 31) Patriots: 23.0 32) Cardinals: 23.5 I'm also going to take a brief look at each division and see how they stack up against each other in terms of what seed the division winner tends to get, the number of wild card teams they produce, and their overall record in the playoffs. AFC East: winner's seed = 2.0, 0.63 wild card teams, 57-45 (0.559) playoff record North: winner's seed = 2.3, 1.22 wild card teams, 78-66 (0.542) playoff record South: winner's seed = 3.3, 0.22 wild card teams, 13-39 (0.250) playoff record West: winner's seed = 2.4, 0.94 wild card teams, 64-54 (0.542) playoff record NFC East: winner's seed = 1.6, 1.47 wild card teams, 99-71 (0.582) playoff record North: winner's seed = 3.3, 0.28 wild card teams, 18-41 (0.305) playoff record South: winner's seed = 2.5, 0.84 wild card teams, 44-58 (0.431) playoff record West: winner's seed = 2.6, 0.41 wild card teams, 43-42 (0.506) playoff record What did we learn? We learned that Madden is betting heavy on Bryce Young. Panthers as the 9th/10th best team in the league? I get that their division is weak, but I’m not sure why the Panthers are the team Madden sees coming out of it so often.
