I Said This, You Heard That | CLAY SCROGGINS & KATHLEEN EDELMAN

For years people have tried to predict or understand behavior in an attempt to strengthen communication. One of the best keys to better communication is to understand the four temperaments. In this message, Clay Scroggins and Kathleen Edelman walk through four temperaments and show how understanding them will lead you to better communication.

I believe it was Smalley and Trent who illustrated these quad-personality types into 4 distinct animals. It went like this... Michelangelo wasn’t a “lion” type personality, otherwise he would’ve knocked out the Sistine Chapel in six months, and had 3 more lined up. No, instead he was a meticulous beaver type mentality. The “otter” personality type doesn’t mind placing the dirty clothes in the hamper, but it’s going to be a fun challenge throwing them under his leg or behind his back. Finally, the “golden retriever” might not know how to solve a particular problem, but usually he knows someone, who knows somebody, who knows someone else that knows how to solve that problem. Don’t ask me which animal types fall into which categories. A further note, they pointed out how that Christ illustrated all four of these personality types. The one I remember is of the lion, quoting the scripture that Jesus like flint, set his face to the cross.

@@NorthPointAtlanta The life coach in this video is not the first person to match these colors to the four temperaments, contrary to what she says. Hippocrates gave them colors - red, white, black, and yellow. Jung gave them the four colors we know them as now - red, green, blue, and yellow. The personality theory known as True Colors was coined by Lowry in 1978 - long before Edelman.

The amount of times this gentleman says “umm”, almost made this impossible to watch. Still, the content is excellent and worth pushing past it.
