    Awesome dude! Love a lot of the points you made. I went X-H2s with the X-H2 as a second body and am loving the 40MP for portraits and landscape, with the X-H2s for almost everything else. Stoked to see your journey with both cameras!!

    Thanks! I thought about getting an H2 but with the X-T5 a little cheaper I thought I would give a try. Honestly so far, im a little on the fence about it. The pixel shift really isnt too impressive over taking multiple exposures and stitching. The 40MP looks pretty good with my 16-55 but I dont really think some of the older lenses are helping it much, as I cant tell much of a difference. Ill give it a couple weeks, but I may be returning/selling it and putting the funds toward another X-H2s I just really love that camera in everyway.

    What would you recommend for candid toddler shooting? The XT5, XH2 or XH2s? I have the XT4 and I enjoy the small form, but Autofocus can sometimes still be an issue. Although I do make it work and get some fantastic images - I tested the XT5 autofocus and in store in looked wayyy stickier than the XT4- and thought to myself this might be good enough. And maybe the additional 40mb sensor will give me even more cropping room (though I only crop alittle bit if i need to.) But then again some people say that the 40mb isn;t that much more impressive, but that Autofocus in the XH2sis! Please help!

    @@Jgheiler Honestly for toddler shooting, the play is any body you can afford plus investment into the f1.4 lenses. The XF18mm f1.4 is great indoors, the XF23mm f1.4 is a great walkaround lens, the XF33mm f1.4 is a great "normal lens", and the XF56mm f1.2 R WR is the best portait lens out of many systems. Using the 18/23/33 indoors at 1.4 on the X-T4/X-H2/X-H2S will yield incredible results. With the 18/23/33 in hand and a body, I'd personally pick the X-H2 because it's just the best mix of everything. And the EVF is amazing and I find the 40MP very useful for cropping (don't listen to the haters haha).

    I’ll hold on to my X-T4 that’s a solid built camera. I also feel like it’s the best of both worlds. Some XH features in an XT body. Plus it has the battery grip which helps with balancing and handling some of the F1.4 primes and zoom lenses.

    For shooting above-head, like over the fence that you mentioned on your video ...maybe a helpful workaround, which I learned using the X-Pro3 (but only handheld, not on a tripod): Firstly ensure to have in the menu enabled the "Displays Autorotate" = ON If the tilt screen on XT5 goes up to 90 degrees - but in the "wrong" direction for shooting overhead - just flip the camera upside-down in order to have this 90 degree screen visible ....Not sure if this is working with XT5 scree , but theoretically it should be and yes It's definitely not a perfect solution since not so easy to find the shutter button: now at the bottom of the camera and at such awkward handling position, but better than not shooting at all, or shooting blind ...for me it was working just fine with the Xpro3 in the very rare occasions this was required

  • @MilesChatterji

    Yeah I agree, but in certain circumstances, such as needing full height of the tripod, without putting some kind of contraption in the hot shoe or mounting it in a cage, its hard to get the camera upside down, or even on the right side since the screen only tilts that way instead of to the left. That makes vertical panoramas even harder than they should be sometimes especially if you need full height on a tripod. Honestly it still works which is the important part, but I have a hard time being a fan of it. Even handheld at low angles vertically, my hand blocks the entire upper part of the screen making it hard to be quickly discreet or do hip firing while seeing the screen. In reality I would prefer an X-Pro screen on an X-T I think it would look great, and I wouldnt get face smudges all over the screen haha.

    Hi Miles, Congratulations for the new gear! 🎉 I always have 2 X-T2’ with me for street photography. One with a 18-55 and the other with a 85mm. For Astro I even work with 4 gears to capture as much as possible in one night! 😂

    Thanks! Astro is great fun, I have some telescopes and tracking mounts I use occasionally. Look for a few upcoming videos of the X-T5 in real world situations. After using it for 2 days I'm still kind of skeptical if I want to keep it or return/sell and put the money toward another X-H2s. So far the only biggest difference is the resolution, and other than the physical size of the photos, I cant really see too much more detail over the 26mp sensors. Perhaps because the pixels are now so small it doesn't even matter. I will continue with it and continue to report my findings in videos.

    This is why I’ve not used an X-T since the X-T2 and I love Fuji. X-T2 was robust and solid. I bought an X-T3 (tried 3 eventually) and all had hollow/tinny feeling dials. That’s a nope for me. Canon is my main body and I have X-E1 & 2 but am considering an X-T4 for travel/size.

    Any experience about rolling shutter XT5 vs XT4 when shooting in ES {on Stills) ? On XT5..it should be worst/ more visible than on XT5 but would be great to get an indication in which extend ! (Smaller or rather bigger differences)

  • @MilesChatterji

    @MilesChatterji

    For stills I couldnt notice any difference. Ive never been able to see much rolling shutter on any of my cameras unless there is motion either on the camera (panning) or the subject. And most of my moving shots are with cars as subjects in which ive not noticed and rolling shutter unless there are some bars, say from a bridge in the background or something. Im not the best person to ask outside of that as I dont ever really do sports or anything where you might see a ball bat or racket or something appear as if its bending from the rolling shutter, but I would imagine that kind of thing would be worse on the XT5 despite the slightly faster readout speeds, it still has a lot more pixels to process even if they are smaller pixels than before. Hope that helps a little bit!

    The 40 megapixel sensor is an overkill imo, it will fill up the hard drives really quickly. I'd rather have a 26MP stacked sensor instead with a better readout speed for silent shooting and a better dynamic range.

    Well, I wouldnt say over kill, but reducing the size of the pixels to fit the same surface area should increase detail and overall physical dimensions of the picture, but from what I can tell its very negligible when compared to my H2s, so really ill give it a couple weeks and see how different lenses look as not all of them can render sharpness to pixels that small. But I may consider dual X-H2s's if this doesnt work out much.

    I'm really torn between the three new bodies. I love my X-T4 and always said if they could just improve the eye AF, I'd be done. The X-T5 seems to be that (with a couple other bonuses - size, resolution, etc.), but I love the idea of the XH grip too. Dangit. I guess it's a good problem to have. I'm not surprised as far as what you said about the build quality - I kinda figured that in order to keep the same price point, something had to give.

  • @MilesChatterji

    Yeah keep checking for new videos, I have one in the edit queue right now that I have to add a few things to first Then ill do some street stuff and another landscape vid to really make my mind up and share the findings. So far the biggest difference is AF and resolution. But in all honesty other than the photos being larger in size or scaling in LR and Photoshop, I don't really see that much more detail out of the 40 MP sensor. Pixel shift is also a pain really like a sit and hope it looks okay later scenario for landscapes, I've had one look great and one look terrible, so it needs more testing. I can see it working well for most people but in all honesty unless something happens soon that makes me really fall in love with it, I may be returning/selling it and putting the money toward another X-H2s.

    @@MilesChatterji I think part of the magic of the XT and smaller bodies is when you pair them up with the compact primes - 35/2, 23/2 etc. With the 1.4 lenses and the zooms, that’s when I want a larger grip. I use all of the above so maybe the 2S makes the most sense especially as my only body.

    I don't think so, I already have an H2s. The H2 is basically the same as X-T5 when it comes to photos, I don't care much about the video on this camera as it is powerful enough to vlog basic photo outings. The real issue is that most of fuji lenses are having trouble rendering sharpness to pixels that are that small. So I don't see a lot of extra detail when compared to the H2s 26mp. Other than the physical dimensions of the photo that comes out of it, I don't really see much extra detail which is what I was hoping for, for street and landscape. So if I return it I will probably put the money toward another X-H2s, and just run those for several years.

    I mean, the screen design is FAR more consequential than whether this or that dial sounds hollow. Who cares? In my experience the 3-way tilt screen is WAY better for stills, and particularly for street and event photography, than the flippy one. I’m glad Fuji listened to many of its users and brought back the old design.

  • @MilesChatterji

    @MilesChatterji

    I feel the same about the screen, who cares as long as it works. I just touched on the dials because this is youtube and people care or lose their minds over any minor change. They do feel a lot different and the entire top of the camera feels a bit like a toy, and that they could easily break or wear to the point that they spin without being touched compared to the older models not only do they sound hollow they feel it too. I dont mind the screen really. I do find it limiting to viewing angles when composing a shot but its not the big of a deal. My biggest thing is that its always exposed, again not a huge deal, but smudges from your face get annoying after a long day, and some more clumsy people are now more prone to scratching and breaking it. I use the view finder most of the time and use the screen just for reviewing photos. So I wouldnt be bothered if there wasnt a screen at all, I may actually prefer it. We went years on film cameras without screens. My personal preference not that it matters much, would be the x-pro screen. I can use it to review and then flip it out of harms way and use the viewfinder.
