I Reveal My £10,000 Trackday Bike Build with Ruroc

I Reveal My £10,000 Trackday Bike Build with Ruroc. The journey comes to an end. My first track day bike build was such a fun project to undertake. I had no idea where it would take me, from choosing a GSX-R 750 to getting carbon fairings for it. I ventured up to Knockhill Racing circuit to test out my finished bike.

Well, I'd say you've not forgotten how to ride at all,,,,just a tad quicker than I was, but remember the track was about 3 miles longer back in the 90s, just ask yer dad!!!😂😂 Admire your honesty when it came to the bike build!! Keep up the good work mate , cheers! 👍
A 750 smoking 1000cc bikes! Love it!
TMac great job, more please, keep builds within reasonable track-day punter budget, comparing standard bike to track modified with what the improvements mean for track riding, you are on a winner. 😊
You made me laugh ! And the bike’s amazing!! Keep up the amazing work Taylor
Great result ! Bike looks awesome👏 can’t wait till the next one . Would have been nice to see a final rundown list of what everything cost

@@tmac77 I hate to be that guy! But it has to be said imho! I was honestly looking forward to this build series due to you being a professional racer so I thought you would know what you are doing and what you are talking about when it comes to upgrades. You called it the £10k build but you didn’t tell us what the parts and labour cost you! I can’t believe that bike cost or is worth £10k is it? Also you didn’t do anything build wise I know you addressed that and I understand you are a busy guy (love the fact you are running a moto3 team and I cheer your boys on every weekend Ogden is looking better every week!) I would of liked to of seen you get more hands on. Maybe I missed an episode or two correct me if I’m wrong! I’m currently doing a build series on my channel at present and i have had setbacks along the way but it’s coming along and I hope to be done this week! My budget has gone way out of control but I hope I can get it done for around the £10k mark. You said you are going to do more builds on your channel if you do please show us more of the actual work that goes into it and maybe even do it yourself! Just a thought! by the way epic riding hats off to you for that side of things! If you fancy giving me some track tuition I’d be more than happy to put our builds up against each other! You’d have to do the lap time on both bikes though as there is no way I’m getting anywhere near you I’ve never even been on track yet!
Very nice Taylor, great series and result. Poor riders at Knockhill must've wondered what was going on...... 'ah, Taylor Mac' ! - still proper fast !
That's a great finished job by all involved. It was good seeing you hit your marker every time coming into and out of the last turn leading onto the start finish straight. I bet the rest on track were thinking who the hell is that guy passing everybody , the gigs up haha. :}
I can't believe you've struggled to get parts for what is essentially the most common go to trackday bike - but it does look fantastic so well done. Carbon fairings are a little extravagant but maybe the trackday warrior would prefer to get spare levers/clip ons and spare rearsets...
This could be a great series if you like. Building low budget track bikes and the issues you can run into. Would love too see you build some other bikes and process at the end
You speak as if you failed to make this project happen because it went different than you planned, but, I'd say you accurately showcased the pitfalls that one can fall into when building a bike. Fairing kits even if not race spec often need modification, researching the bike to see if parts are available, budgeting extra time for inevitable delays & setbacks, and looking over the bike to identify parts you may or may not be able to fix within your skillset. You did well to set realistic expectations for anyone attempting a build for the first time.
How about a vintage race bike or even a sidecar outfit. Loving the whole nine yards of what your doing.
Have you thought about entering the No Limits endurance race on the bike with a couple of ex racers for a laugh? Mad mark as crew chief would be interesting
Great bike build and video. And so lovely of the trackday organisers to allow you into The novice group with your lack of recent track riding and all. 😂😂
Absolutely loved this bike build Taylor. Shows how tricky it can be when you have an older bike. Great stuff. 👍

Cracking looking bike Taylor well done . It sounds great and you can still get along a bit.👍
Your Gixxer build came out so epic! You are one of my favorite youtubers and I am so happy that I found you. Keep up the amazing content.
Triumph 765rs build next please, either retaining the handlebars (for broken old men like me) or with a moto2 style bodywork kit.
Just a great series. You showed all the pitfalls and built s great bike. Maybe revisit this one after you have done another few and just add anything extra you think it needs. A real pleasure watching your lines at Knockhill. Great stuff.
Jeez you know that track 🔥TMac! Loved the whole thing from start to finish. Keep it coming 😎
Wow you really out did yourself on this build Taylor. Excellent job!
lol the old apple don’t fall far from the tree. Mad Mark said get some grease on them brakes lad!😂 Wingin it like a chicken.
this is great didnt know i was going run in to so many bike racer following you you do great job helping keep up good work 😀
Excellent contents and still a stunning rider. You have definitely rode that circuit a few times and made it look like a high speed video game. You won't make a MP later on in life cus your too honest! Well done and keep up the hard work
Really enjoyed the whole build and so what if it didn't quite go to plan, or budget. Loved your banter mate and the honesty about it going a bit tits up 😂😂

It would have been boring without the dramas 😂 thank you 😁
Bike looks mint, so fast and super smooth on track..
The Gixer 750 is the perfect track day bike imo. I loved mine, fast but easy to live with, and you can thrash them without instantly getting out of your depth like you can on a 1000 (unless you’re say a former Stock 1000 champion)
Great project! Very interesting to follow along :) Now that you left out the quickshifter for the sake of this being a budget build, what do you think about up-shifting without using the clutch vs quickshifter?
Making light work of some of them fancy expensive red sports bikes on track there kid
Loved the video! Would like in the future to see you going deeper into a track conversion and the technical aspect. Maybe changing from the stock ECU into implementing telemetry, dashboard, quickshifter, making the harness, pherhaps some engine modification? Looking forward to the next build!

Was fun to watch...all the best.
Enjoyed this, nice bike. Sounds nice as well.
Taylor - literally as you've been doing this I've been doing the same with a K7 750 to a similar budget. And yes I needed help from specialists and, err, overspent, too! Decat, Ktech front and rear, lighter wheels, new callipers/lines, track tyres...all similar or the same. Yours is lighter, mine makes a little more power...we should run them against each other and see which mods achieve most and where? Love your stuff mate!
Wicked video series keep em coming.. could of watched the onboard for ages

Looking good. Track/race-fairings NEVER fit right out of the box. There's always something that isn't quite right, there are exceptions, but the "rule" is to expect some cutting, drilling and such - and that's when it's "pretty good fit". Some "make your own fixings and fittings" can also help when things aren't lining up - like a spacer to allow a gap between fairing and bolt hole, or a small bracket that "translates" the hole for the screw or bolt on the bike to a place where the fairing has a place for a hole. Fitting a rear suspension unit isn't in itself hard. You do need some way to lift the rear off the bike off the ground without using the switng-arm, so either an ABBA stand or some sort or jack/support under the foot-pegs [assumes solid pegs, typical road-pegs will just move out of the way]. I would also have thought that at least replacing the oil on the front forks (or did I miss that) would be a good thing to do on a track-bike. Obviously "beginner level", forks will probably not need cartridges or some modifications, but fresh oil and a clean-out of any accumulated crud would be a good thing. New seals never hurt anyone either... :) Again, not really hard things to do, but requires supporting the bike without the forks - ABBA stand or front stand that goes in the steering stem (or whatever it's called) [Or a couple of sturdy bits of a wood screwed into an upside down T - carefully pushed in under the stem - no idea who would do this sort of thing ;) My excuse: Needs must, need to fix bike today, can't get a stand in time...]
Very sweet machine you finished up with. 👊
Good series bike looked great but you forgot to .ention how it felt and where the areas you think its better perhaps in another episode
Really enjoyed the series but I was hoping that you would incrementally add parts and show the performance difference compared to a stock lap set, like; here's how much difference good suspension makes, here's the difference between slicks and road tyre times etc. Appreciate you're super busy though :)

I was thinking the same. Does the fancy body work actually do anything other than keep the sponsor happy? How does the weight loss affect the bike? How easy is it to setup the expensive suspension? I think you have to accept the fact that building the bike is not your forte, but actually determining what works & what doesn't probably is
Awesome Video taylor 😎 Your honesty on here is refreshing 🙌🏻 Oh…..& you can still pedal a bike eh😎 🏴
I was hoping for something a bit more detailed than this. Mine is a K6, and I managed to do more for a lot less; race dash, TC, better brakes and still get 135 rwhp. I still enjoy the vids tho.
Very interesting to be honest. You managed to pick the day of the year that it didnt rain at Knockhill as well 😂
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
Taylor your videos are great 😅 "me converting my van" "me making a track bike" - both projects yeeeaaahhh I didn't have the time or skills. I can tell you that it is so nice to see that even someone who has raced his whole life is as useless at these projects as your average Joe (still haven't finished my van!)
be great to see your parts list for the clipons and the rearsets
I want to see you tear through the advanced group on that bike at Donnington, Oulton etc
Nice series! I subscribed for this series. Wanted some impression/comparision/review for before and after. Was it any good? :)

How about an adventure bike, that you then ride to some of the European GP rounds.
Loved the bike build, really interesting, future ones could be around a Cafe Racer or classic bike? Or favourite bikes in Movies such as the Ducati sport in Tron Legacy, Ducati GPZ 900 from Top Gun Triumph TR6 from the great escape?

That is such a good idea!!
your braking is miles harder then anyone else , # still got it !!
Very cool Taylor. Curious to know your time at Knockhill against the rest. My K7 is still running stock pipes because of dB control but most of the required bits - renthal 50mm bars, bonamici rearsets, Active quick twist, CRC fairing. The rest has been suspension setup, dunlop GP212s (now testing a Metzeler k2/k3 combo) and good to run middle of the semi-pro group for someone who returned to trackdays after 12 years ;-)
thoroughly enjoyed it. I challenge you to build a trackday bike for half that budget, £5000. For someone like myself, who'll never have enough for an expensive bike.. Bike of choice for me would be a Suzuki again, but this time, an SV650S. It is good for all sizes of riders but can accommodate lankier folks and isnt too scary for a first trackday bike.
This guy looks pretty quick, he should try his hand at club racing
Awesome 👌 can ya build a steet triple 765rs next please 👍🏻
Nice one Taylor.👍👍

Would of beeb cool to get your thoughts on the upgrades? Next think you should do a older 1000cc enter into a raxe weekend and see who you get on 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
every bike build has it nightmare problems as someone who has been building bikes for years 1st was rd cofin tank I put 200 top end on 125 insurance purposes it went like a turbo had been installed needless to say it didn't handle or stop and also built street fighters b4 they were called that it just made sense to get rid of them seats on CB 900 and zeds and put renthals so ya could manhandle them but you are super lucky and all the advise and help you should defo do builds but I hope not all race bikes really try and do a Spondon framed cbx 1000 or kwak 1300 6 cylinders and get it on track you are very lucky use it I have taken 3yrs doing a1991 tenere 660 everything as been a problem all I've got 2 do is manually bend header pipes strip carbs tune it all up and pray it will pass m.o.t all done in my front room without any help so be thankful ov your oppatunity
I rebuilt a 2002 R1,,, nothing comes cheap in bikeworld

Bike looks mint to be fair. Want to do my bike up for me 😂😂😂
Awesome and great fun following you on this project. I call FAKE AI generated on track action though, Scots know that Knockhill only gets eight minutes of sunshine a year. I grew up 8 miles from there 🤣 How about a small displacement like a CBR400 track bike for under £2500?
How about a paddock scooter next , one to carry wheels , tow a trailer and hoon in the paddock 😂
Hey Taylor I would be awesome to have your honest opinion on the final product… How do you feel about the bike performance? Giving a chance would you have chosen something else for a track bike? Only asking as I’m deciding if I should convert mine GSXR750 to track only or I should get something a bit more focused as a R6
what did you think though was she handling ok? looked amazing. sounded great. fair play.
Put an IRC universal blipper on it it will be dope my bro

Hi Taylor, can you do a feature with Hector Barbera on your Eurosport BSB slot please? He's been racing in BSB a while now but we don't know anything about what he does in the UK. Love the KZread channel! 👍
Nice, though for the next one what about a Kawasaki Ninja 400? Also add some footage of working on the bike too.
I would have done the QS before the powder-coating and something else, I can't remember now.
What you actually have is the perfect Moto2 practice bike! Are you thinking what I'M thinking...........???
Quite odd that it is always sunny at Knockhill AKA Costa del sol.
On the down side, a slow speed drop that damaged the bodywork could make a repair impossibly expensive or even impossible. Where is the bike going now?
I think we all wanted to know what the bike was like? How did it handle, did it feel like a moped after what you're used to riding, etc....
Next build should be F900R BMW and test it all year at BSB nicking couper man's pize money lol

i was the 666 like ! hell yea!!! Love from Scotland Taylor I live 30mins from knockhill
As you're an expert now, let's pick something a bit more challenging... How about a Yamaha Niken race bike? How hard can it be? :-D
I'm a bit late to the party, but an RGV250 for the next bike build!
Anyone know what this bike was on the noise test?? Got a 750 and holding back on a full system due to the 102 db test on tracks?
🔥🔥🔥
What did the bike feel like before and after?
The bike looks fantastic. Incredibly modern.
I enjoyed all that but in the first episode you said you were going to ride the before and after bike on the same track so we could see how much difference it made. What happened to that idea?
Looks mint. Did you start looking at other men slightly differently after riding it?
You could do a up to date Yamaha RD350LC...
What sort of chain breaker did you use to split the chain. 😉

Motion Pro makes incredible parts. A lot of pro teams use their products.
Why no clear video shot of the helmet you were wearing?.... I wouldn't trust a Ruroc on the track also. Might fall apart when you take it out of the box because their Q.A. is top notch 👌 lol
Possibly the perfect track bike unless your use to 200 odd hp, what was the red light on dash 😱
Next build should be something with lots of chrome lots of seventies custom paint and three wheels………
Why didn’t you end by telling us how the bike felt?
Noiyce bike btw🇦🇺
