I do have a mat under my sink but it's there to keep you from slipping and to cushion your feet while doing dishes. It's the same kind my mom uses as a hairdresser at her job.

@@mauratyson9580 Maybe, but sinks are typically built into cabinets (which usually go all the way down to the floor) and it would logically be impossible for the average person to put a rug literally under the sink.

My head cannon for this family is that they were all foster kids at some point. Akira aged out first and is roughly 25-26 and when Miko aged out he took her in and she's now 20. Darling just recently aged out and is 18. I figure they were foster siblings with the same family so Akira sees them as his siblings while Miko sees him as her prince.

I never ever realised why every renovation I did of this house never pleased me for long; I never had a great floorplan. Deli's floor plan is just ELEVATED. It's genius. And can we also talk about how gorgeous Deli looks in today's video with the glowy skin, off the shoulder top and cute bun? Slay!! :)

I incorporated Mt. Komorebi furnitures when I renovated this as I feel like both Miko and Akira are originally from Mt. Komorebi then moved to the city. My headcanon is: Darling is Miko's ward because Miko is a social worker and Darling is still a teen.

My parents used to have “easy wash” rugs by the stove and sink as cushioning for standing there for a while but now they’ve got really nice rubber stress impact mats there instead (they wipe up with Lysol so easily). My mom has issues with her ankles and knees and it helps her stand in front of the stove top or sink if she’s there for awhile. Also keeps her feet warm on the cold tile. And I agree, Darling being a teen is a little odd, but I figured Miko is just a little older, that they went to high school together or were foster siblings or something and Miko graduated and aged up first?

I can't speak to Australia or the rest of the world, but in the US it's not uncommon to have a mat in front of the sink and/or in front of the stove/oven. Rugs are less common. The purpose is to protect the floor from spills and splashes, but also to give you a bit of cushion under your feet while you're standing there for awhile. Because they can catch spills it can reduce the risk of falling as well. They're usually washable in some way, either with soap and a rag, in the washer, in the sink, etc.

rug under a sink is a very good thing - all the water drops from dishwashing or food cleaning processes are absorbing by the rug so you dont have to step on wet floor, just need to machine wash them once in a while and have a spare one in this case, also its more comfy to stand on a rug than on a cold floor.

In the USA it's common to have kitchen rugs (which are generally padded) in front of the sink and sometimes the stove. They wipe down easily and make it more comfortable to stand there for a longer period.

This is such a cool representation of what shared homes are truly like. The older furniture upstairs, the one flatmate who furnished the main rooms and made it feel like a home, the ikea style furniture!!! I went to a party once in a 6 bedroom townhouse, a friend and all of her roommates lived in, and they had like their whole downstairs living area covered in music equipment and a stage and the top living area was for movies and tv! It was the coolest thing! At the party they played live music. So fun, but I don’t know how I would live amongst the chaos!!! This build reminds me of that. Awesome build Deli, I love your style and love the haircut!! 💝

hi deli! so, here in brazil is pretty common to have rugs under the sink/stove. all the people that i visited to this day had one, and it's actually to keep the dirty that could fall on the ground in the rugs, so it's easier to clean later (that's what my mom said). it's so common that even when i moved to another house, it had already one. even in the bathroom!!! I always find so fun to see the diferences in another places :) love all your builds and your hair it's looking stunning!!

We keep a rug in front of our sink. It's great if any water spills... helps prevent slipping. The right mats can also give cushion when you're standing there washing up. They're small enough to toss in the washer when they get messy. At least amongst the people I know, sink rugs are very common but I have personally never seen one in front of a stove IRL.

It's interesting to me to see how other people redesign spaces after I've redone them. When I renovated this apartment I flipped it upside down so that the bedrooms were on the bottom and the living space was up top. I did it because I didn't think it was fair that one bedroom got such a big balcony to itself. But now I see there are other ways to make it a shared space. 💜

I ate really horrible in uni but to be fair I think that’s an American uni thing bc they would just have the grossest food or it was extremely unhealthy in the cafeteria. Ah good times 😂 When you are done building this you should create families and or makeover the original onesie. You can package it up with your newcrest you are rebuilding lol.

You look stunning with your hair half up half down! Makes me want to cut my hair to that length again though I won’t wear it near as beautifully as you do, Deli! Sending loves to you, Bowser and James!❤
