I Read 85 Completed Series And These Are The Top 10 Endings! (As of 2023)

Ойын-сауық

Hi everyone! Today's video is my top 10 best series with the best endings. Or, to be more precise, this video is to discuss the top 10 (or top 12) final books in a series I've ever read as of 2023. I have deliberated not making this video because most of the books listed belong to the series I mentioned in my updated top 15 completed fantasy series video. Still, I received many demands to display my favorite final books in a series. So here it is. My list consists of 11 fantasy books and 1 non-SFF book. There is no ranking to them. They are my absolute favorite final installment I've ever read. Let me know your favorite ending or final book in a series you have read!

    What you say about Jade Legacy elevating the entire series is so interesting. I haven't finished the trilogy yet but this is how I feel about book 3 of Lev Grossmans magicians trilogy. It really shows the authors consideration for the trilogy as one connected part rather than three disconnected but related pieces. Such a skill.

    Yeah! I mean, I already love Jade City and Jade War. But Jade Legacy was something truly special. I love it so much when the last book of a trilogy or series can elevate the previous books in the series. As you said, it makes them really a connected sequential series rather than treating them like separate installments. 🙂

    I’ve been reading Licanius for about a month. Currently at ~20% of The Light of All that Falls as I’m equally excited / engaged and at the same time frustrated by the execution. So far I think the complexity of the plot is not matched by the character development (except as you said maybe Caeden). And all those info dumps about the past sometimes seem so confusing that I’ve felt the need for a Wiki (an aid I need when Reading Malazan for example). But I’ll power through and I expect a satisfying conclusion

  • @PetrikLeo

    @PetrikLeo

    8 ай бұрын

    It can definitely get confusing. There are so many details to remember, and when it can diminish your experience when you don't remember the details of what the characters or narrative are referring to. That's why I recommend reading them close to each other. You're right that a wiki would be super helpful though! 😁

  • @Patrick-mf1xg

    I'm reading The Light of All That Falls right now and I'm loving it, so many elements are coming together even at the halfway point. I love Caeden but I also think that Davian, Asha, and Wirr are all well written and have interesting storylines. I think that these other main characters and their viewpoints are all deep and well developed, it's just that Caeden is so beautifully conflicted that it's hard for anyone's story to be as compelling as his. I really have to start reading Ken Liu. Would you say that The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories is the best entry point? Also, The Broken Binding has a pretty substantial Black Friday sale right now...do you have one or two recommendations? :) Thanks as always for an amazing video, Petrik!

    Thank you so much! And hey, I agree with you so much on The Light of All That Falls and Licanius trilogy. I loved Davian, Asha, and Wirr. Sure, they're not as amazing as Caeden, but no way the series would become one of my favorites if it only has Caeden driving the narrative forward. You totally have to read Ken Liu's books! And yeah, you can't go wrong with trying out The Paper Menagerie. So many amazing short stories there. But if you want the epic fantasy books, read The Dandelion Dynasty! For Black Friday sale from Broken Binding, my only recommendation is Radiant Emperor duology and also War Arts Saga. Note, I haven't read War Arts yet, but Radiant Emperor is great, imo! :)

    The Will of the Many by James Islington will turn into something more complex and well-structured. And I'm not finished with it yet, but I feel like The Sun Eater will join the rank! :)

    Stumbled on this by accident. Have to say there are a lot of good choices there. Without trying to be controversial I'm a little disappointed that the Wheel of Time didn't show up. Was it the author's death prior to finish (and Anderson's completion of it) that caused that?

  • @PetrikLeo

    Not controversial at all. It's simply because I haven't finished reading Wheel of Time. I'm about to start reading Winter's Heart next month or in January! 😅 I'll get to A Memory of Light eventually!!

    I have bought the audio books of the Jade series, since you have been so excited about them. Unfortunatly, we do apparently not have the same taste. This series has really been the most boring fantasy I have ever listened to. I have given up in the midst of the second book. Henceforth, I will be more cautious with your recommendations.
