Funny Story by Emily Henry was definitely a hit this month. Funny too as I LOL several times and my husband said “can’t wait to hear about your book”.

I loved Funny Story, I didn’t want it to end.

I've read 16 books in April and had 1 dnf - overall really pleased with my choices. 😍

Thanks for the wrap up! I read She's Not Sorry by Mary Kubica. I gave it three stars. It wasn't bad but I did predict one plot twist. Also I felt like she had ideas for two different thrillers and put them in one.

The issue is, I mostly read horror, thriller and southern gothic - I’m not a chicklit girl at all! Do you have any recs that maybe bridge the gap between the two? I think you would like Mad Honey. It’s kind of like little fires everywhere and stuff like that. Family drama with a mystery and a moral dilemma.

I've read 13 things in April but 6 of them were required readings for uni (short stories mostly). Out of the 7 of my own choosing, I had one 1-star (What Feasts At Night, wouldn't recommend! Pretty disappointing since What Moves The Dead was 4 stars for me last year), two 2-star, three 3-star, and one 5-star. Overall, April was rather disappointing month for me but outofshapeworthlessloser was a memoir that I would be thinking about for a very long time, it was amazing and definitely my favourite read of the month (maybe of the year? How to Say Babylon, another memoir I've read this year, might be a very close second). It made me cry like three times and I don't cry reading books easily. So yeah.

I was so excited for the new A. Jimenez book, and it was good, but I read it at the worst possible time. Coming out of two really heavy themed books (like Jennette's memoire) I really needed a cute, fun Nd easy going romance which this definitely wasn't. I barely made it through and got myself into a reading slump 🥲 but will for sure try to pick it up again when I'm in a better state cuz I know I will love it more the next time !

I love your channel so much, I'm from Washington state too and I don't know why that makes your channel cooler lol ❤but for me it does ;)

Reese’s book club books are always around a 3 star read for me.

Re: Funny Story - HARD SAME. Like, Book Lovers is still my favorite FAVE (#teamNora5Eva) but Funny Story is probably going to edge out Beach Read for second place.

I loved Big Swiss and went on a deep dive trying to find similar books after finishing it. Pure Cosmos Club by Matthew Binder was one I really enjoyed. It has that same quirky, funny, outrageous vibe to it. You should check it out!

I only read 7 this month but I did the tandem read of Empire of Storms & Tower of Dawn and that was like 1100 pages so I don't feel too bad about it lol Also, not sure if you've read it or not, but a weird literary fiction book I recommend is Ripe by Sarah Rose Etter

I am quite picky about what I rate 5 stars and nothing had been hitting that mark yet for me. BUT ALAS!!! I had TWO in April! They were House of Salt and Sorrows and The Will of the Many. I think there is a chance you’d like the former.

My favorites in April were Kill for Me, Kill for You by Cavanagh (yowza) and Has Anyone Seen Charlotte Salter? by French (kept me guessing. .and guessing. .) So many great ones coming in May!
