Shame that you skipped Super Mystery Dungeon. It's my personal favorite Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Yes, better than Explorers, in my honest opinion.

The bandaid hurt with Arceus since it’s the first and only "mainline" game that can actually be 100% by itself with nice side quests and a nice gameplay loop that actually made me come back to it even after Scarlet and Violet just with how cozy and pleasant Arceus felt. But what hurt the most was seeing Pokemon Ranger not even getting mentioned then dropping into the « please stop making these » tier, even though we didn’t even get another one since the DS (gen 4) and honestly they were such fun adventures I wished another one would release someday (tho it may require new controls)

Battles are lifeless because theres a lack of trainer battles, and the zones feel empty at times, some either lacking pokemon or having like 200 starlys ina zone with no tall grass. gym battles are gone which is one of my fave features. scarlet and violet has many flaws but it sticks to the traditional formula, and for that is superior to arceus

I adored pokemon ranger. Younger me thought it was so different putting in a lot of work to catch them seemed so rewarding. I'm quite sad he didn't even mention them.

There's NO way Pokémon Ranger goes in the same tier as Rumble! Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs have amazing stories and I like drawing circles :) (also they already did stop making them sadge)

@@sams-hx7hm sword shield is pretty bad but arceus is not that much better, if not the same tier. arceus has good catch mechanics and move animation but the story and trainer battles are super lacking. no gym battles just wild pokemon encounters which suck the joy. theres so much reading yet it gives so little in return for the story. just my opinion tho....

It loses so much of the traditional formula, tho i do love the catching mechanics

My feelings about sword and shield compared to sun and moon is id rather have a lot of good story than some god awful genuinely nonsense story. I also like that you have to occasionally try to win fights in sun and moon.

All I had to hear in this video is that his most played game is pokemon unite as that would explain the tier list 💀💀

Pokémon Duel, although not being available anymore due to shutdown servers, was extremely fun when it was available. It was similar to board games like Chess where you have pieces and you’d move them along the different paths on the boards. Using the figures of the Pokémon that made up your team (Mega Latias was always my MVP) you would battle another player with the goal of taking down their Pokémon and capturing their “base.” I was so disappointed when the servers got taken down since it was a game I could easily play with friends whenever and was my Clash Royale (as in mobile game I would constantly play wherever and whenever)

Yaknow, Pokémon conquest has a special place in my heart dew to both the facts that it was my first strategy game I could of gotten, and the ending became that's probably the funniest way ANY game can end. Even inspired me to create a concept for a show if I ever gotten the chance.

Magikarp Jump is peak Pokémon, you make a 90cm Karp jump hundreds of feet high by constantly peer pressuring him

Finally, Pokémon Conquest and Pokepark getting the love and appreciation they deserve. Two fantastic games whose only rival for best spin-off being PMD2. Also, I’m fairly certain that Pokepark is the first time we see Hitmontop’s GOAT idle animation.

As one of those ten puzzle league fans, it really really deserves a playthrough if you're into action puzzle games like puyo puyo and Tetris.

I bought my first pokemon game in Australia in 2001 when I was 12. At the time, the options were red, blue, yellow, gold & silver. I chose yellow because "I want the one with the pikachu on the front." Crystal version was released shortly after and I requested this for Christmas 2001. Crystal version seemed EPIC at the time because it was the first gbc game and the first version giving the option of being a female character. I was a 12-13 year old girl at the time so this was a massive selling point. We were also introduced to mobile phones (cell phones) and pokemon eggs for the first time. I'm 34 years old now, to save you the maths.

@@ChadVigilante JRPGs are like, the least replayable games ever, if you mean post game then sure but in terms of actual replayability I don't think it should be a really important factor in ratings, especially considering pokemon doesn't have difficulty options which IMO is a really important factor for replayability

The trading card game was actually really fun, for a game that was as old as it was they actually captured the original Pokemon idea of gyms and elite four and combined it really well with the Card game to make something enjoyable.

there's some things i hard agree on, like BDSP(oh god help us), SWSH, most things in your top 2 tiers, etc. but please play super mystery dungeon! i might have bias for it being my first mystery dungeon game, but it is so damn good that i can't let u put it in the low tier. same goes with pokemon ranger and pokepark 2, all of them are goated games that i can't let in a low tier either. (yes i will stand by the spin-offs i just like them so much)

It was really fun I agree 100% but I'd have to play it again to know how good it really was. No doubt it was a great one though. For me Crystal and Emerald were peak.

I understand having never played duel, but before it died it was an incredible game, I hope the community or nintendo brings it back one day

To be fair, Puzzle League wasn't really a Pokemon game; it's Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack with a Pokemon coat of paint.

I did like SM and USUM, more so than my ‘home region’ (X/Y), but I understand the sluggish pace and obsessive handholding is a drag. I don’t know, I just find Alola charming and I like the various stupid sh*t that you don’t need to mess with to finish the game, like Poké Pelago and Pokémon Refresh. Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra do have very good stories, but it doesn’t remove the reminder in the background that I’m playing Sword and Shield and that fact makes me want to vomit. I would say ORAS are the best 3D era remakes, mostly because the other remakes it has to compare against are either Pokémon GO at home or an incompetent train wreck. I should really get to finishing my copies of White 1 or Black 2, Platinum and HeartGold (although my HG is a fake copy bc Voltorb flip doesn’t work and the cartridge is def lower quality), since I’m biased toward the 3DS era of games despite how lukewarm they were. I respect your opinion, I just have my own opinion about the 3DS games and I enjoy them despite the flaws

I feel XY had a ton of potential, but they just left them incomplete for whatever reason (probably trying to get SM out for the 20th anniversary. I enjoyed the story of SM, but it definitely crowds the player too much, and that's why I've never really replayed it) XY is actually my favorite game to replay, because it always feels like I'm finding something new they could have built on for a potential Z version. Legends was fun. Isn't much of a game to replay either, but I love the changing formula and the story. Volo was so cool! Masters is actually better than it has any right to be for a gacha mobile game with its storytelling. Still has the usual gacha pitfalls of too many limited units, but overall, it's a pretty fun game the devs are always making improvements to. Unova was top-tier, and Sky is my favorite Pokémon game! Good taste there 😁

For all the crap that pokemon sun and moon gets, can we at least all agree that the pokemon designs are, in generally, really darn good? Easily some of the best across all generations, imo.

Personally, i liked USUM and SV Everyone has their opinions, and i do respect yours. My top 3 would be 1. USUM 2. ORAS 3. SV Black and White where the first pokemon games i played, and its #4 in top 5 for me. But i genuinely loved USUM and SV to the point where i have a good 500 hours in USUM and almost 100 in SV now. And i garenteed have 700 in ORAS easily

As a fan of pokemon shuffle I'd say is a good candy crush like game that is both difficult and doesn't hold your hand with the puzzles

Pokken was underrated... if it wasn't for it being a console exclusive on a console the FGC didn't own, if Nintendo wasn't insistent on using its own hardware and its strict control over tournaments, and if they ACTUALLY advertised for the release it would have done so much better. I like Pokemon AND fighting games; a core audience for that game if there ever was one... and I had no idea it existed until after the fact. I mean FFS they had the people who make Tekken develop it and it was so much fun to play... there's no excuse why it didn't blow up.

I just got my switch last year. While I have been a pokemon fan for almost a decade now, I didn't get my first pokemon game until last year. I got Pokemon Sword and I thought it was a pretty good pokemon game. Now I want to get a new game, which one should I go for?

Pokemon Quest is definitely a good game, you should give a try. Also, Pokemon Duel was a good one too but unfortunately it was discontinued.

For me, HG and SS are excellent remakes! Beautiful towns, sweet music, fun challenges like beating Red in a mountain or exploring Kanto. The best part? The following pokemon! Not only the sprites are cute but it's really useful! Your friend can find accessories and golden leaves sometimes. Also, they got so many reactions; whistling, looking at the sea, scratching the ground, dancing, hughing you etc. It's adorable 🥰 Mystery dungeon of time and darkness is really fun. I have the time version, it's a great adventure with likable characters and cool villains. It's great to explore the region, finding treasures and being friend with everyone. One of the best games in the franchise.

What is impressive about red and blue (and yellow) is that those games are 510KB. The whole ass game is just over half a Megabyte (or just under if you are like me and think that powers of 2 rule)... A proper RPG with an open World in that ammount of size is incredible. Also, before people knew what meta meant, we had some cool ass battles with our individual flavours of Pokemon lineups. Some wicked battles were had. Then we realized that psychic Pokemon were basically broken in the late game and the fun was over. You just couldn't compete. Horrible tier list btw. Not so much the placement of the games but because you don't actually talk about most of them which gets irritating.

bruh why couldn't he explain sun and moon. ik it's pretty weaksauce from the others but s&m and ultra s&m shouldn't be grouped together because normal sun and moon is weak but ultra is fine. ultra has so many more things added and sure it has so much dialogue but getting past it is a good game the special mechanic of petting and taking care of your pokemon is an awesome idea! and so many other things like the random pokemon you can pet, the new spin on gyms, the islands, etc. i guess he couldn't actually think of a good reason to put it higher because of the normal sun and moon but i do believe ultra is just fine not bad at all but not godly epic at least it isn't a baren wasteland like arceus.

Pokemon go is amazing and spectacular. So 2016 wasn't all that bad. I still play pokemon Go 7 years after it's release

I am 28 years old. have no nostalgia for sun and moon. they are better games than Sword and Shield. it's really no contest. it's funny how the only thing you bothered to mention is the games opening, while the Sword and shield you claim it's only problem is the tree. really shows a failure on your part to actually give a legitimate critique of either game. and yet you claim this list is here to "set the record straight". While it's toned down in USUM, you can clearly tell based on dialogue cues that Lusamine intentionally dresses Lillie up to look like Nihilego and emotionally abused both of her children because of her grief of her losing her husband Mohn (the Poke Pelago guy) to a research accident. Just the whole story of the Aether family, the payoff of the Nihilego plot, and the Type: Null and Gladion plot with him saving it from cryogenic death make the whole mashing through 6 hours of text every playthrough worth it for me. Damn I wrote a whole essay.

@@marbuki5602 ironically I think the best way to play Gen 7 is to be doing something else (like watching TV) while you play through the 2 hour long intro bit and Trainer's School, and to only play for like 2-3 hours at a time to not get burned out of playing it after like the 2nd island. Enjoy!

@@JDLong006 also, the character arcs not only make SENSE, but are pushed throygh actually meaningful moments , like Gladion, who throughout his ENTIRE LIFE has wanted nothing but to help Lillie after running away, being cold and sometimes condescending (though never super disrespectful), now HAS to save her from their mom...and can’t even beat GUZMA, making him realize how wrong he was this whole time by basically telling him that everything he believed in was NOT enough. OR the parallele between Lillie not being able to help Nebbie from the bird pokemon at the beginning of the game, to her having to face the almost exact same situation and overcoming it handily, portraying the growth she went through during the whole game. The story is just SO well told, and these are only 2 examples of it and I could still go on and on about it, and while it is totally understandable for people to no care about the story, it sucks that so little people actually give it the praises it deserves FOR A POKEMON GAME

Super mystery dungeon enjoyers rise up

Dear god, every single compared to other games that came out during its time would be f or e tier, there are so many better games you can spend playing there’s a reason only adults play the Pokémon games anymore, the kids won’t get attached because they don’t have the nostalgia to it. The only games that I could see being better is legends and scarlet/violet. Subnautica being made back in 2014 and the early access was so good and was made by a group almost going banckrupt, they needed money so they released the early access not even knowing if it would get attention, compare that to the “finished” x and y and well, there’s one I would never return to. The only Pokémon games I actually finished were Legends Arceus and Scarlet/violet for a reason but I would still play other games that came out. The switch has been out for how many years and Pokémon legends and scarlet/violet look so behind, but still manage to be the best mainline Pokémon games. Now the some of the spins off, on the other hand seem like way better games compared to the mainline games, wish I had them though. The only reason I acknowledge Pokémon is the music because they make some gooood music, even their mobile game, masters ex has some good tunes, like damn, good stuff. But this is gameplay wise and the mainline games are boring.

Calling Gates to Infinity a bad game should be considered a war crime.

Black/white 2 will always be my favorite, gen 5 had some of the best side content, had phenomenal music, character design and story and it introduced Volarona my beloved lol. Also correct me if im wrong but pokemon white/black and white/black 2 is the only time a mainline game got a proper sequel that continued the story. We either get new games or remakes/remasters the slightly build upon the story like gen four and gen seven.

I would argue about how you say the original gen 1 games have few features. Yes if you play it on an emulator on a computer, this might seem confusing to you. But honestly, the original gameboy screen simply didn't have the real estate necessary fpr more features. Moreso they crammed as much as they possibly could into that gameboy cartridge. There was literally no more room for features. It was the best it could possibly be in its day. So I would rate it higher. And also, I never played them as a kid. I'm playing them as an adult and enjoying myself immensely. I hope the newer games don't slam me in the face with complexity, or I'll get bored very fast.

pokemon ranger is totally a great spin off, so much fun. ill defend it to my grave. that shit goes hard.
