It was so great to walk into the Daggerheart room and see that you were gonna be in our party! 🥰 It was a blast playing with you!
So what you're saying is a party meeting in an inn is a totally normal thing.

@@Karzir1 I mean, perfectly understandable, but CR is not the only reason to be starstruck if you see him. He's also a voice actor, you know =) With a bunch of pretty big and popular roles, and countless lesser ones. I'm sure there are plenty of huge fans of his work without being fans of CR.

I'm not Matt Mercer but if you ever see me eating breakfast 30 feet away, you're welcome to join me. You're a cool dude. You also keep making Daggerheart sound like a really cool, dynamic system, even if it is just in play test. I'm considering buying it when it comes out, so I hope you get an affiliate link for it: seems right that you'd get a cut because you're the one who got me interested haha
You, Ginny Di, AND Pointy Hat all in the same room playtesting the in development Critical Role TTRPG? Oh what I would give to be a fly on the wall of that room! What a cool story!

As a neighbour of ussr famous actor => the world is very small thing quite often. You just don't usually see the amount of it
I'm seeing a trend of newer TTRPGs reducing the amount of rolls and crunch needed to keep things moving while still trying to keep some heroic flair, and knowing that Daggerheart seems to be going in that direction is great news to me. And we're all very happy that you got to meet Matt, too!

One of my favorite things about going to cons is the chance to tell content creators how much I like their work. I bumped into a few this PAX, but never spotted you. Maybe next time!
That shirt design. Now whenever you say "Keep building", Im going to hear it differently.
Please please please post scans of the character sheet! Especially interested in the Play Guide sheet and the weapons/armor sheet as there’s currently no other sources for those posted online.
Love yah bob

“..he’s even cooler in 3D” Love it ❤😂
Looking forward to the channel rebrand XD Bob THE World Builder
Whoa, super cool, Bob!
i think a lot about what would happen if i had a chance encounter with one of the greats of the D&D community, and the conclusion i always reach is that i would recognise them in a heartbeat and then painstakingly watch with hesitation as they leave and i forever lose my chance to say hi ...so the fact you got to say hi yourself and got recognised by the triple M himself (matt motherfuckin mercer) along with everyone you played Daggerheart with is *super* awesome, and was great to hear! i'm happy for you, Bob T. World Builder :)
gratz on you
It's so cool that you got to have those experiences! There's something heartening in hearing that Matt was already aware of you and your channel, because your content is worth recognition and frankly, your takes on ttrpg topics are just... really good! The idea that you, Ginny Di, and Pointy Hat playtested Dagger Heart is wonderful, too. Each of you three make content that does a great job of thinking about, and often questioning, why things are done the way they are in D&D/ttrpg in general, while never forgetting that for all the questions and problems, a lot of people are out here just in love with the idea of it all. So happy you had a wonderful experience at PAX Unplugged, and also happy to see the new merch! That "keep building" shirt is such a cool design.

This is funny, cause I saw you walking around at PAXU but you were chatting with someone. And I was like, if I don't do this I'll regret it, but then I figured you were on the way somewhere. It's easy to geek out over people at cons. Hope you had a good time.
I am super stoked for this game. Awesome fanboy moment, that sounded awesome. Keep building.
The damage reduction mechanic reminds me of the Elden Ring one-shot CR did a while ago. The damage was set and players could use their action points (?) to block and lower the damage, or roll Reflex to dodge it all. If I remember correctly it was also an Initiative-less system. It's neat to see that some of the fun mechanics written for a one-shot get translated into their new system, I was curious if the designers at Darrington will do something with it, and now I am happy to see they did. Hope Matt moves CR into Dagger Heart, I'd love to see more

Sir Bob has indeed received his knighthood at PAX convention by Matt Mercer. Congratulations!!! That must have been an awesome moment. But honestly? I think you totally deserve it to be recognized by someone like him. Your show is absolutely high quality, so why should you be invisible.
IDK where you're from Bob but I couldn't help but think during the video, "that's so Midwest Nice." when you were sitting at the table, thinking about not interrupting his day, etc. You're Midwest nice Bob. Big thumbs up.
I was so glad just now when you said he recognized you lol it's good that he keeps up with the rest of the yt community and that's u! you're the dnd yt community!
Oh I totally would have fan-boyyed at that point. That's so cool! Kudos. You earned the recognition. Your channel is great.
That’s really amazing to have had that chance encounter. Being recognized by Matt should give you a good boost of self confidence; it’s about as real in terms of praise for the value and quality of your work as you’re ever going to get. Congrats!
SO COOL!!! My head would have literally exploded if I saw Matt sit at a neighboring table. It would also have exploded if I got a DM invite from Spenser to play DH. And it would have exploded 10x over if I had a chance to play with so many cool people. You must have some huge save bonuses. Congrats! Can't wait to hear more about Daggerheart!
Dude you are the coolest guy ever! So dang deserving of all of this amazing stuff that comes your way! I felt so immersed in your description of meeting Matthew Mercer xD so real and honest in your reaction. I'd cry xD no lie
SO glad “don’t meet your heroes” does not apply here! Thanks for sharing this sweet tale, Bob THE World Builder!
Bob very cool, great to see you had such an excellent time. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like you had a blast! Good for you. I don't think you realize how much of an impact that you have had on a great many people. I have been playing and DMing D&D and other TTRPGs since 1983 and I still learn new and better ways to have fun at the gaming table by watching your videos, so never sell yourself short. Your videos do make a difference for a great many DMs and players.
So freaking jealous of your amazing fortune to not only meet al of these wonderful people, but to be invited to play with them! And it is no less than you deserve, being one of said wonderful people: Bob THE World Builder!
So glad you are getting the recognition you deserve Bob! Must have been a great experience.
A great balance of respecting Matt’s space, yet wanting to acknowledge all the pleasure he has brought to us all. So on brand that he wanted to do the same.
I want that Daggerheart video. I also want a video about your experience playing Deathbringer. Basically, I just want more Bob (the) World Builder videos.
Years ago we went to a Star Wars Celebration in Indianapolis and while we saw Carrie Fisher, the dancer who played Oola and an actor who was in Indiana Jones Last Crusade and Star Wars one of the highlights was hanging out with some well known cosplayers at [redacted] restaurant. So fun!
I did much the same to you at the Dungeon Dudes & Ginny D presentation and you were so gracious to this dorky fanboy - thanks 😊
Man that's super exciting! I can't wait to give it a try! Signed my group up for the BETA Test, fingers crossed!

It will. In about one hour it is pretty much already 20% there. I got really curious though, if the video was sponsored. There was no disclosure on that and, honestly, I have been getting confused about the channel's drive to promote and inform about RPG in general and, particularly, those that are small and independent. This falls somewhere in between. And between this and that video a while ago about the skateboarding stoner mages, I can't really figure out Bob's process.

@@BobWorldBuilder While the world you were playing in was too whimsical for my table, I'd love to hear more about the initiative and damage reduction systems and how Dagger Heart might be used in a more grounded world setting. Say a bronze age Greek mythological world setting as just an example. So deeper into the interaction between different weapons and armor types. Also I'd like to know how the action dice the GM collects actually translates into the cool stuff monsters can do. This was pretty vague.
Have you tried Dragonbane? I think you'd love it!

That's a lovely moment and glad you had a great experience. Have always got the impression Matt has a generous awareness of discussions around the TTRPG community (he used to post a fair bit on Reddit back in the day IIRC), so it actually doesn't feel like too much of a surprise to know that thoughtful, popular YT content finds its way to him and he appreciates it enough to remember the people involved. No doubt he's a super busy guy, but he's also a massive enthusiast like the rest of us.
What a cool story! I love that you "D&D Influencers" are all fans and supporters of each other -- it's like a little Avengers movie every time you "cross over". If anyone in the TTRPG space has earned the right to be a little arrogant and aloof, it's Matt Mercer -- but by all accounts, he's managed to remain very down to earth and approachable. Impressive!
Daggerheart combat looks fun! I feel like the system creates more narrative opportunities in combat and makes it less like math since The DM can save actions up to create suspense.
What a lovely and wholesome story. Loved it. Also makes me hyped to try out Daggerheart. Absolutely a system I will get once it's released :)

Great question! We didn't have much interaction with NPCs besides trying to scare off some humanoid enemies, for which a number of PCs used specific character features. I'm not certain how it works outside of combat, but I think it would be rolling 2d12 and using the Presence ability for interactions like that. There is no list of skills currently.
