There's something heartening in hearing that Matt was already aware of you and your channel, because your content is worth recognition and frankly, your takes on ttrpg topics are just... really good! The idea that you, Ginny Di, and Pointy Hat playtested Dagger Heart is wonderful, too. Each of you three make content that does a great job of thinking about, and often questioning, why things are done the way they are in D&D/ttrpg in general, while never forgetting that for all the questions and problems, a lot of people are out here just in love with the idea of it all. So happy you had a wonderful experience at PAX Unplugged, and also happy to see the new merch! That "keep building" shirt is such a cool design.

The damage reduction mechanic reminds me of the Elden Ring one-shot CR did a while ago. The damage was set and players could use their action points (?) to block and lower the damage, or roll Reflex to dodge it all. If I remember correctly it was also an Initiative-less system. It's neat to see that some of the fun mechanics written for a one-shot get translated into their new system, I was curious if the designers at Darrington will do something with it, and now I am happy to see they did. Hope Matt moves CR into Dagger Heart, I'd love to see more

It will. In about one hour it is pretty much already 20% there. I got really curious though, if the video was sponsored. There was no disclosure on that and, honestly, I have been getting confused about the channel's drive to promote and inform about RPG in general and, particularly, those that are small and independent. This falls somewhere in between. And between this and that video a while ago about the skateboarding stoner mages, I can't really figure out Bob's process.

@@BobWorldBuilder While the world you were playing in was too whimsical for my table, I'd love to hear more about the initiative and damage reduction systems and how Dagger Heart might be used in a more grounded world setting. Say a bronze age Greek mythological world setting as just an example. So deeper into the interaction between different weapons and armor types. Also I'd like to know how the action dice the GM collects actually translates into the cool stuff monsters can do. This was pretty vague.

What a cool story! I love that you "D&D Influencers" are all fans and supporters of each other -- it's like a little Avengers movie every time you "cross over". If anyone in the TTRPG space has earned the right to be a little arrogant and aloof, it's Matt Mercer -- but by all accounts, he's managed to remain very down to earth and approachable. Impressive!

Daggerheart combat looks fun! I feel like the system creates more narrative opportunities in combat and makes it less like math since The DM can save actions up to create suspense.

What a lovely and wholesome story. Loved it. Also makes me hyped to try out Daggerheart. Absolutely a system I will get once it's released :)

You deserve all of this, you're one of the best, humble and honest rpg youtuber. One question about Daggerheart, does it really feel like a replacement for DnD in the scope of strategic fight or will you see it as a "lighter" system game like Candela Obscura ?

Meeting Matt is obviously incredibly cool, having him *recognize you* infinitely more so, but I turned into a puddle from the secondhand glee of the table you got for Daggerheart. Are you *$#@%ing* kidding me dude. What was your life that weekend?

Great question! We didn't have much interaction with NPCs besides trying to scare off some humanoid enemies, for which a number of PCs used specific character features. I'm not certain how it works outside of combat, but I think it would be rolling 2d12 and using the Presence ability for interactions like that. There is no list of skills currently.

When 2 legends meet. I think it's awesome you had such a wonderful time. Dagger Heart differentiating itself from D&D so drastically is a great call. I love the idea for armor as a resource.
