The Stocker, my old stomping ground. $ 1 drinks Wednesday and Saturday nights 😂 I worked on the old Canberra Hotel as a youngster helping my father. He was renovating it when it was sold. Had to remove all the new fittings that was just installed. Family still have some retro chairs from the hotel. The tallest building in the world was supposed to go in its place. 🍻🍻

Love your videos BUT,the reason verandahs were removed from Brisbane pubs is that trucks and buses kept hitting them. Trams were fine, they didn't tend to make diversions and scare the hell out of the house maids but deisel buses and trucks seemed to have a mission to demolish pub verandahs.

Remember the suburb Broadway? Anyway there was a classic hotel there still in its original form - gone to rubble very, very recently. So very sad but typical of Brisbane and its lack of respect for our past and its architecture! This is so reminiscent of Joh days - this hotel sld NEVER have been demolished! This was a classic piece of architecture and the fact that its gone is just another example of the disrespect that Brisnane continues to show towards its history! All of Brisbane's classic architecture has gone the same way - down the drain! Very upsetting indeed! Jill Dixon
