She definitely is. There's no way an ordinary person goes from not running to running 45-70 miles a week. There are elite runners that don't do more than 70 miles a week. That being said, her time was 3:30, not 3 hrs, and 3 hrs is a FAR cry from 3:30.

The whole thing is staged for views and likes. Anyone who has ever ran a marathon will tell you that you don't go from couch potato to marathon runner in ten weeks with under 8 minute mile pace. Its not just strength and mental toughness. The bones and joints need time to strengthen before the body can push that hard and it takes time - lots of time. The only thing a rookie will accomplish doing this is a stress fracture and shin splints.

@@Scurvywormstudios Unless you have good fitness there's zero chance the average person (even above average person) could even walk 26.2 miles let alone run it. The people that do a marathon with zero training are usually already in ok shape and sometimes in phenomenal shape. Just because they didn't specifically train for endurance running doesn't mean that a lot of their prior training can't carry over. Most of the people in my small work group couldn't even run for a solid mile until they trained for few weeks. These weren't overweight people either, but they were pretty average levels of fitness. After 6 months or so they could easily do 10k races and probably at that point some of them may have been able to do a marathon on a whim. Even then that's unlikely.

As some who sucks at running, i can tell you without a doubt us beginners physically can’t run 5 miles without mainly walking, while we could injure ourselves we definitely aren’t signing up for a marathon lol, the only reason i could see for needing a disclaimer about her being an athlete is to not give people unrealistic expectations and the risk of overworking yourself.

It's ok friend. You're in your own journey. Don't ever compare yourself to others, you need to simply complete against yourself. In other words: this week your goal is to run a mile in under 10. Next week your goal is to run a mile in under 9 mins 55 seconds. Or to run 1 and a half miles and don't time yourself, just try to go further. Competing against other people before you've even gotten started is a great way to feel defeated and give up. You got this Try to enjoy it.

Everyone who is saying why is she crying.... i GET why shes crying and im no nowhere near fit (18 min a mile), but when you push yourself to do something that your mind and body might be telling you otherwise, its hard but so rewarding. Try loosing 30 lbs or try having at least a personal training 3 days a week for a month. You only get a small taste of what shes having. So i APPLAUD her. Challenging your own self is hard cause you are your own supporter and critic at the same time.

I can kind of understand why Michelle is crying when she finished. She did this for herself, to prove to herself that she can do it. Today I took a notion to go walk up this mountain that we have where i live. Me, my dad and my dog went up and even though its quite small compared to a marathon, I was proud of myself for making it and for not complaining. Some of the hills and inclines were absolutely killing me but i pushed till I got to the top and it was so worth it

ThatRedFoxy I think especially as an athlete you can understand, I've cried on deck after dropping time at a meet (I'm a swimmer) and after she did so well and prove d to herself that she could do it its completely understandable
