Makes me want to try wind surfing, have surfed almost 60 years and now a prone and knee long distance paddleboard. Turning 75 next month and wow, I think of so many water sports I'd love to do. Maybe in the next life. For you young people, if You think it ,do it .

The oldest beginner we had last year was 73. If you want to try it just go for it. Sure the high speed planing is cool, but there's also a lot of fun just cruising along on a large board with a small sail.

Мне 68 и я участвовал в соревнованиях, гонки на вингляйдере 1983 -84 году. Вот это были "умные гонки"! Нужен был очень большой опыт в парусном спорте, что бы выигрывать. Сейчас всё упростилось, многое зависит от везения. Может я не прав?

I started windsurfing in Florida at age 9. Since then, spent 8 summers in the Gorge, 5 trips to Hatteras, a minimum of 12 sessions per year. Started wind-foiling at age 42, approaching 50 and loving the heck out of windsurfing!

yeah, looked kinda scetchy. And also the crazy fast approaching speeds of the front runners going back and meeting slower competitors head on. Imagine the carnage if 2 competitors crash into oneanother... good that they wear helmets.

Hello Nico. I even got into your video. But not about that. I would like to say to your audience that it’s possible to participate and even finish the race without being totally out of breath. Last year I took 100% “pro stuff” like “Isonic, Vapor and Chopper”. That was so hard for me, that I had to take pause twice in a race. This year I took totally opposite stuff. Pure Free ride board, G10 fin and no cam sails. As a result I had much more fun this year compared with previous. I am taking into consideration that wind strength this year and previous was different, but this year I was in Gruissan 3 days before start and got some nice gusts on the water. So I was able to compare what is happening in long distance with “pro” or “free” stuff. What is all this about. You are bit scearing off your viewers from to take a part in this magnificent event named “DefiWind”. Off course, to be in top 100 costs something, but if you want just to finish and become a part of “something great” you can do it in a easy way too. This was my third time in DefiWind and hope to go again. Video is great.

I don’t get it. Why don’t you use a seat harness. More power to hold down the sail, far less stress on your back.

Question about the speed. You mentioned (Video 13:35 min) that your time was 34:58 min to finish the 40 km race. That is an average of 37 knt, or 68 km/h. Is that correct? It seems to be little bit too high. 😀
