I Quit My Job as a Formula 1 Engineer - Here's why
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I'll tell you why I didn't make a huge mistake...
In November I quit my job as a Formula 1 engineer.
After nearly 11 years as a trackside performance engineer and a vehicle dynamics engineer, I decided it was time to take a break.
Welcome to my new Formula 1 page - where I'm going to be sharing my insight into the world of Formula 1 with all of you.
This channel is a blank canvass - I'd like to help explain how I got my job, what kind of jobs there are in F1, and answer any questions YOU might have. Think of this as my Formula 1 documentary about my life and experiences.
Please feel free to leave any questions below - I'll do my best to reply to all of them, or even make a video reply!
I also create and stream gaming content as well - be sure to follow me on Twitch and my other socials! I do F1 analysis, Q/A, race debriefs and watch-alongs live on twitch as well!

HAAS are looking for a race engineer. Not sure if the money is enough to put up with Gunther Steiner's rants though.

But also, I think he knows he can go back anytime with his decade old experience. If this doesn't work out, he has something to fall back on, so it's a win-win situation.

Good for you man, I've been watching formula 1 for about a decade and to see people like you switch from such a beautiful job to a real passion inspires me. Keep it up mate.
The reason people are mad at you is because it would have been their dream as well (some maybe just for the money or just to hate). They are right to be mad, when they see someone who has their dream job just disregard it, in their eyes at least. But you have the freedom to do what you want, afterall you know what's best for you and not others. Best of luck in your channel man I hope you do great.

💯 agree. I empathize with Brrrrake because he took a chance and went for it. I moved to Japan, took a risk and 4 and half years later still here. Wasn’t easy, still isn’t because I stand out and Japan has a rather outdated society but I made the choice and love it. Got a lot of flack from my mom’s friends and my family for being here, but also got a lot of support from my friends and low and behold, my mom. Her words to me and this goes to Brrrake as well. “Do whatever you want in life as long as it’s legal, have a plan and go for it. Even though you’re an adult and not everyone will agree with your decisions, it’s your life and your choice and no one can/should force/coerce you out of it.”
I think it's great that we have someone like you to give us this insight
This smart, hard working man gets the luxury to have 2 jobs he's passionate about. I've never worked in f1 so I wont judge his life choices, but imo it's never a mistake to follow your guts.
Thank you for your service at a great team! Good luck
Man, I want to be involved in F1 its such a cool sport I wanted to be a driver but im in my mid 14. Now I think its more sensible to be a mechanic or an engineer so Im wondering, what do you need to be an engineer in F1?

I was wondering about this. Glad to have your insight!
Amazing, someone who actually knows what's going on, subscribed instantly, thank you for your time.
Bro you need to play f1 game and show us how to properly setup the car and also point out if something isn't working as expected.
Aye at the end of the day you sound confident, happy and trustworthy in yourself to go as far as you want with streaming/videos and that's all you need as a mindset to get where you wanna be and you already know this cause you got to the top of the top in terms of racing, so with some trial and error I know you'll adjust and do great! New chapter in life means fear but also feat, and maybe fuck 😂😂 good luck bro!

There's a channel by the name of Kyle.Engineers that has a similar story (content, F1 engineer, return to content). Didn't think I'd come across another channel of someone that left F1. Very cool stuff with both stories!

U got it bro!
Hey, some people quit working at Apple and NASA to persue youtube
Personally would love to be in your previous position, I only really came to know of formula 1 when I was 18 in 2018 but ever since I found out about it its been one of my biggest dreams to be involved in it somehow, preferable a driver but I am WAY too old already to be starting a brand new racing career (22 now), and I know that in order to be working in f1 you have go be pretty prestigious at your job since formula one is the pinnacle of racing sports.
Legend tah for sharing.
You should do what you love.
proud of you 🤙
The way he chose what truly made him happy and what completes him is something other people can’t seem to understand. He worked a decade in F1. He lived the dream that none of us would never come close too. I applaud him for being in F1 and for making the huge leap into content creation. Saw the same thing as someone switching from a six figure job to pretty much managing a boba tea shop cause she loved boba tea. She even said that she loves it and she’s not as stressed or full of anxiety anymore. People do things to make them happy and that is what matters the most to them.

I made a video on this! Check it out
I've always wanted to be an engineer, especially within aerospace and aeronautics however how good is the pay in formula 1 as an engineer compared to other workplaces in the field? I will be working with something I'm passionate about and will travel a lot which is a nice benefit but is it worth it if the pay isn't as good as other places?
I doubt you’ll see this, but I’m currently studying engineering at uni and like a lot of people say, being a trackside engineer is my dream job. Is there any advice you can give or even tips to getting myself into it once I’ve graduated. I would love a chat
Is there any jobs I should be looking for to eventually end up as a person developing the cars right out of college or should I go for the job in f1 strait out of college? I currently live in Texas btw
I was expecting this video to be a “I was wrong, someone please hire me”
Made me happy, 10 years is no joke.
