i quit my job (and filmed everything)

i quit my job to do youtube full time.
I can't believe i'm making this video. For years this has been my dream, and thanks to every single one of you, I am here! If you have watched my channel, you know that working a 9 to 5 was not for me. So I worked my ass off for years so I could pursue my dream full time. I quit my corporate job at Amazon on June 3rd without having another job and am so so excited to start this next chapter in my life. Thank you for everything.❤️

As a Gen X'er, I am so proud of the younger generations taking control of their futures and not being beholden to the company line. Lynette made sure she could financially do it and that's fantastic. What would be a HUGE help, and this is my opinion only, would be if healthcare wasn't tied to our jobs. The possibilities for citizens without that heavy burden needs to be explored instead of being dismissed as "socialism". Good luck to all of you taking the plunge like Lynette has!!

You're going to be fine. I quit my job 4 years ago with a child. Listen, God is REAL and He was there always have been way before Amazon so your job is not even your source of living. At least you checked your finances, you had time to have fears. I was numb yet never ever been more certain that I can no longer work for the bank. My story is similar to yours, toxic work environment, just learning about my job and how the bank operates challenged me morally and ethically and religiously so I chose my faith. I chose God and my life hasn't been so blessed. From that decision I learned and saw God being God in every aspect in my life. He even opened a door I never imagined, I traveled abroad for the first time, all expenses paid, nice hotels, in and out board rooms mingling with important people in spaces I never ever imagined I would, never even dreamed actually but God is God and you will be where He wants you to be. God is so big He can do anything. If I never quit my job for the reasons I did, I would have never known there are doors God can open we know nothing about. You will be fine. Enjoy your new journey!

The fear of what society might think of you, your friends/family but also the stigma you might feel to carry around has an effect on the decision in staying in your job or not. There are too many people miserable in their job, that it became a new norm. So quitting your job because it affects your mental health feels selfish... It can feel that we can't quit our job, because we are so afraid of our financial state. And then quitting a job, because we didn't "like it" (because you can't ignore the red flags) can feel childish right? I've had to listen to so many conversations where people say "ah, get over it", "be an adult and take on responsibility". BUT honestly, the moment I quit the jobs which didn't align with my values and said NO to situations/people, my life started to change. I started to see and interact with clients and jobs that align with my values, without any red flags.

@@asadb1990 I see the point you’re making and that’s one way to look at it. But speaking from the perspective of my own experience, there are recruiters out there who will help in keeping you within temp jobs only if that’s your preference, you just need to be transparent with them. Let them know you’d like to start interviewing once the contract is coming to an end. Not all companies are looking to expand head count permanently especially for short-term projects. Also, of course any job requires focus and attention, and you’d still need to follow an interest/strength which will allow you to perform naturally. That’s why I mentioned she temp to try different things of interest, which can help broaden her experience and bring clarity to her vision.

@@tanyalasagna_ i get your way. but in my experience even for temp jobs they want highly experienced folks who are desparate for work. and if you lack the desparation to work like a dog, they will end your months long contract in a few weeks. i have been hired a few times in the past where i was let go soon after and excuse was "i lack the urgency and drive". i worked my ass off. but i never ran to finish work early because that just meant more work. as far as recruiters are concerned they have all mostly been a waste of time. they would pitch me for jobs but after interviewing it was clear client wanted someone highly experienced for little pay. and that level experience only came at desparation

Thanks for your transparency. I quit around the same time due to similar reasons. I refuse to continue putting energy into someone else’s dream when I can contribute the same energy into self employment. The stress and anxiety associated with corporate America is ridiculous. Self perseverance, self discovery, positive experiences, self care, and mental health maintenance are key. Congratulations on your new found freedom 💕

Ufff, I FELT this video! I quit my job this past January. I had ten years in, making over $100K, had tenure, health insurance, job security the works but in the end I had to choose myself. Soon after quitting so much of the trauma I had endured in this position came rushing in and I knew after about 1 month of being unemployed I had to seek professional help. Today, I am writing this comment from my AirBnB in Accra, Ghana where I am working as a management consultant with two clients! I am no longer chasing money or titles, I am chasing integrity, purpose and meaningful work. I had to trust that I had what it takes to figure ish out and I did and I am. Proud of you for choosing you! Cheering you on from Accra!
